Are acceptances actually just slow to come out this year or is it more likely those accepted are not on SDN/admit/etc?

I think they must be slow what are the odds there are so few people on these forums this year as compared to like every year prior
Cycletrack is an imperfect metric, of course, but it looks like they already had their single big wave in December

Which would mean they're early, and the rest is just the long slow tail

Fully aware this is not an analysis likely to make anyone's day brighter (including myself)

In past years have they only done one big wave? I just assumed (and hoped) they would do a couple big waves

Yeah previous year threads show a massive amount commenting with A around the very end of January. they did start earlier this year with some getting in early December, then early January, some in february last week but there was no where near as much reporting as previous year threads. Maybe just reporting bias or prolly didn’t start releasing a lot yet, except for some of the earlier month interviewees.

damn not me being an early september interviewer 🤣but makes sense, hopefully they start releasing more

are they late this year or doing things differently? other years they had this massive one date or week of acceptance usually in late january, but seems like this year they had so far these little mini releases but seems pretty relatively quiet and its late february. anyone know anything

The 10+ posts immediately above are discussing exactly this

i have a feeling they haven’t released that many yet considering there are only 13 people in the GroupMe chat. Figured more people would join if they had been accepted.
But then it goes back to whether or not a lot of people are being accepted and are just not active on any type of social media. There could be heavy reporting (or lack thereof) bias this year.

That’s true of course there is really no way to know. But I find it very unlikely being that most premeds who make it to this stage know about sdn

But it seems unlikely that they haven’t gotten to at least Jan interviewees yet, given that it’s already March. Does this mean we are on hold by this point?🤔

What is going on with this school? Why are there barely any results out and what does that mean for people interviewing later on?

I think this year is weird since they decided to send out acceptances early. It looked like there was one big A wave last year and some small waves in May. But I'm losing my mind rn. I keep seeing applicants get As 3 weeks after their interviews at other schools and here I am waiting since October...

August interview here 🥲

I can’t even imagine this. So many Aug-Oct interviewees who haven’t heard back , Downstate atleast have the decency to just place people on WLs

Does anyone know when November/December interviews are supposed to hear back?

Hi all, I know there is a lot of confusion regarding admissions timelines here. After looking at Downstate’s website and info etc., it seems like they operate their wait list differently than other schools in the sense that instead of putting people on the waitlist in a rolling fashion, they create one waitlist in April and then acceptances from the waitlist can happen from April and on. Is this true? I am wondering because I interviewed in February so I am obviously not anticipating hearing back soon but also want to submit an update letter to strengthen my application. However, there are still some things in the works now and think the update letter would be even stronger content-wise by the end of the month. Given this weird timeline, do you think it’s safe to wait on that?

I don't think they're done sending As

They need to send ~200 acceptances (first-year class size) by March 15th if they abide by the AAMC traffic rules, but I am not sure how strict AAMC is with this. I do not think they have sent this many acceptances yet, as the numbers from here, the groupme, cycletrack, etc., do not add up to 200. Also, I doubt that there is a significant reporting bias. I expect some more acceptances before March 15th to reach their first-year class size number, so not a lot of them. And, based on the last two years, it seems like they just put everyone on the waitlist after the March 15th date. With waitlist->acceptances starting in early April to summer. But, yea, it is really unpredictable...

Based on their virtual chat spreadsheet I see ~five hundred and fifty( I can’t type numbers on SDN) people interviewed so far. This does not include who has future dates but I still feel like this is low as MSAR have a little over a thousand people interviewing last year.

Wow I thought they interview close to one thousand. They can’t be this far behind when it’s already March??

Someone on this feed said 13 people in the GroupMe, on cycletrack it seems like it is 17 people, and I do not use Admit so I don't know how many acceptances were reported there.

When you compare it to last years cycle track the total amount of accepted is pretty similar, so idk how many more waves they're going to have.
