Interviewed at this school two cycles in a row, still no A. Now this year, not even a secondary! Makes me nervous I must have messed up my last interview really bad :( It's crazy how bad I want to go here...

Is Davis normally slower than the other UCs? I’ve gotten secondaries from everyone else but Davis so far and I’m not sure why.

UC Davis is known for being pretty selective about who they send secondaries to

For those who have interviewed here already or in past cycles, do the MMI interviewers ask multiple questions or are the questions in the prompts?

I'm an IS Davis alum and I still haven't gotten a secondary :( just the AMCAS primary received acknowledgement email. A bit nervous bc like all of my activities while attending the school were catered to many of their goals but someone told me they have tons of diff committees reviewing apps and they can be very slow and go in weird orders

This school puts a lot of emphasis on helping people in rural places. Furthermore, it is truly holistic because it doesn't focus too much on numbers. There is a good chance that they skip you if you still don't have their secondary after two months of applying.

I didnt event get the acknowledgement from UCD that they got my primary lol and when I emailed I just got a generic email back.

has anyone who never automatically received a secondary received one yet ?
I think people with certain zip codes/activities/MCAT scores automatically get the secondary while others need manual verification before secondary—just my take.

From speaking with previous applicants UC Davis may take awhile to send you a secondary (like November) and still offer you an II. I would just stay patient and prewrite if you’re interested in the school.

this is very much not true lol, Davis is notorious for sending out secondaries late. last cycle for people verified in early June there were still secondaries being received mid September and onward. i think anyone who doesn't have a secondary yet shouldn't panic until like november - someone on this thread attended a webinar where one of the adcoms said they review very slowly and in different orders with many committees and send secondaries until late in the year

this is interesting, I got my secondary within hours of my app being verified (mid-August), not boasting, but I don't know if they read my application before sending me the secondary

i do live in a rather rural area of nor-cal so maybe that played a factor?

I'm going to keep this comment in mind for my sanity (even if it's not applicable) for Charles Drew and Meharry bc I was verified in late June and still silence from both of them lol

Yes, certain zip code immediately get secondary.

Idek if the zip code thing is true either. I know many individuals (myself included) who have zip codes in the Greater Sacramento area and rural NorCal who have not received secondaries yet. I don’t really think they have automatic secondaries given how much they are known for screening

would you persume that they actually read the application before sending secondaries?

I just realized 2/5 my LORs were not uploaded to AMCAS prior to secondary submission. Am I screwed?
The secondary email said to make sure they're all in prior to secondary submission 😭

should be fine, probably j means you were actually complete at the school a couple days after you submitted the secondary. i think they j write that to make you make sure everything is complete.

Thank you! and after calming down, I think so too

tell me why i pre-wrote davis first

Congratulations! May I ask, do you have ties to Northern/central Cali? Enjoy this moment!
Yeah, I have lived in Sacramento for 5 years. Without doxing myself, I have direct ties to UC Davis and to service in the community here. Still though, I deeply doubted getting a II from them

You seem like a good mission fit- wouldn’t be surprised if you got the A! Again, congrats!

Really well! I feel like I set myself up well for an acceptance, but I won’t know until mid October. I feel like I connected with their mission and alignment.

When is your interview?
Nice! I am sure you did great, the wait is the worst part. My interview is 9/13, and I am stressing. How was the stress level of the interview, especially the part with the dean? Any tips on interview prep?

I’m going to say medium stress all around. The panel and check in was nice and enjoyable and I learned a lot during it. Don’t stress about it too much, the MMI flew by so quick. I don’t want to provide any tips for interview prep to break the agreement I signed, but I think the information they provide is sufficient to get an understanding of the prompts/ information.

Good luck, hope to see you there!

So just finished my interview. I think it went well? who really knows? Anyone have advice about sending thank you notes? They seemed like they didnt really value them when asked. SInce the raters only shared their first names I cant really reach out to them. Did anyone who interview with them send thank you letters, if so, to who?

Pretty sure you answered your own question.

I never got a response acknowledging that mine were sent/distributed. Imo you could skip sending it.
