Is that a thing? An unofficial waitlist? For the people who were waitlisted second batch does your waitlist show on CYMS? I was first batch and it doesn't show.

I'm not sure if it's a official "thing" but for CUSM I was waitlisted early on and then accepted late March so hopefully UCR is doing something similar with the first batch of WLs where they will start moving people off even before 4/30 *fingers crossed*

does anyone see riverside on their CYMS?
I was second batch and I don’t see it either! Although- based on last years WL it’s unclear whether the batches are actually correlated to priority or not. I’m curious when we’ll start to hear back! Previous years seemed to hear back as early as a week which is so nerve wracking
Any March interviewees hear back yet???

I worded that bad, I meant do u need to have a least 1 acceptance to see the tool. I googled it and yeah that’s the case. I can’t see my CYMS cus I got 0 As, just hella WLs.

Did a lot of people get on the WL?
Does anyone know if they regularly pull off waitlist? Or is there a date they start pulling from there?

Can anyone give me tips on how to stand out as a UCR med school applicant? I'm open to having my personal statement read for those who got interviewed. This is literally my dream school. I'm strongly community-driven and an IE native and UCR undergrad, but my cGPA is low at 3.2. I plan to do great on the MCAT, aiming for at least 510. I do have an academic warning. I have also been reading up on getting an HPAC letter, but will that harm my application? Has anyone here gotten an HPAC letter or one from UCR when applying to med school? What are y'all thoughts on that?
Not to be an ass or anything, but everyone "plans" todo well on the MCAT. Elaborate on your academic warning; was this for poor performance or disciplinary action?
lmao u right bout the mcat part. the warning was the fact that i collaborated on a psychology study guide using a google doc when the professor said not to.

I attended UCR's open house this past weekend and they claimed that they are MCAT-blind. From what I understand, they have a strong preference for applicants who are service/community-oriented and from diverse backgrounds. They didn't say anything about IE-natives, but it's well known that they have a bias toward them haha
If you're mission fit, you'll probably have a good shot!
The academic warning will likely harm your application (general advice), but as far as I know, if you demonstrate growth and maturity, it's not completely over 🙂

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but disciplinary actions like this are usually application killers, especially if they're on your record. From what I've seen, usually premeds like this take a few years off to do other things and then reapply years later, talking about what they've learned from their experience, or they go Caribbean.
I don’t know how true the mcat blind part is. They definitely weigh in your mcat score. And if push came to shove they will choose an applicant with a higher mcat score than you with a similar background or “distance traveled”.

I strongly disagree with this....everyone has made a mistake in life yes. But if the person shows growth and a clear progression, I don't see this as detrimental. Your story and your why for medicine is what will make or break your application. I personally have taken the MCAT 3 times and have had mixed scores across (all low 500s) and even did worse on my third attempt compared to my second. I thought I was done but I had 3 interviews this cycle and all of them have been As (MD). Show growth and share your story...that's it imo
Did you guys see the new ucr msar report looks like they are expanding the class size by 6 this year. Hopefully this gives us more hope wl ppl 😭

Number one piece of advice. Apply broadly. Even if your heart is set on UCR, it’s important to recognize the opportunity cost of not gaining admission and having to reapply the following cycle. It is well worth applying to more programs than you initially anticipate, as many qualified applicants miss out on admission simply because they limited themselves to only a few schools.
In the meantime, focus on diversifying your application through meaningful and unique experiences. Seek out letters of recommendation from mentors who know you well and can genuinely speak to your character and potential. Remember, a strong MCAT score is only part of the equation. Engage in activities you are passionate about, pursue what excites you, and enjoy the journey along the way.
