hey everyone,
like others i have a decision dilemma at the moment and only a few days to decide. i was all set to go to jefferson and was getting super pumped but then i got pulled off the dartmouth waitlist the other day and the choice is killing me.

both have their strengths so any constructive comments on either institution would be greatly appreciated. particularly from current students, in part to get a sense if attending an ivy is worth living out in hanover vs philly. i'm currently interested in neuro but know that can change, and while i do have a background and interest in research, clinical practice is my primary career objective. i'm just trying to get a sense of which is the best career move.

thanks!

average scores of whichever is cheaper, whichever makes you happy and which location you want

Dartmouth for sure. Also, did you get your financial aid package from Dartmouth? They are usually VERY generous.

Well, Dartmouth is way out in the boonies, whereas Jefferson is smack-dab in the middle of an awesome city. Hanover and the surrounding area are beautiful though, and you'd be in a smaller class that likely has a more cohesive feel to it. If you can get a good aid package from Dartmouth and don't mind being hours from civilization, seems like a good deal. Also, more people know what Dartmouth is outside the medical community, which certainly doesn't hurt.

Jefferson hospital system > Dartmouth hospital system

besides the reputation, why for sure?? if there is a blatant advantage to having that reputation then i would consider.
can anyone elaborate about what specifics of dartmouth (besides being an ivy) make it better? i am a fan of the small class and on doctoring program but i feel being in a large city such as a philly w/ a diverse patient base has advantages as well

not too worried about financial aid, it'll cost a fortune no matter where i go, haha. and i know i'll work my tail off at both but just trying to see which would have the best opportunities for landing an awesome residency

thanks.

24 hours for me to decide and still conflicted, any other input?

i think right now my main conflict is the better hospital at Jeff paired w/ urban exposure versus the small personalized environment and reputation at Dartmouth. any factors that you think are most important in this decision or would pull you either way?

Go to dartmouth so I (sigh, or someone else) can get off the jeff wait list! But in all honesty, dartmouth likely has far more than just it's reputation going for it.
