I got a page full of jumbled letters & numbers that looked like a massive puzzle to solve! Wonder why u guys got a legit email & mine was coded somehow. Anybody else get something weird?

Mine was jumbled up on my computer, but on my phone and ipad it was a typical email (yes i am currently sitting here with all three electronics lol #OCD). I guess they still need to work out some kinks 😳
 
So I have gmail and when I got the very strange message of numbers and symbols, if you scroll all the way down to the bottom it says [message clipped] and you can click "view entire message" once you do that it opens up the actual email and it is a link to the MUCOM admissions portal. When you go to click on the link to the portal, it doesn't work. That is because it includes the period in the hyperlink. So delete the period and you will have access. Here is the link 🙂

I have gmail, and it did the same thing. When I made the email a separate tab, it looked normal & had my log in info.

Ok switched to my other iPhone app for email & it worked. Signed into the portal to check my status. Still says no letters received but I have verification they were sent weeks ago thru Interfolio. Trying to be patient & not bombard admissions since they're trying hard to get this thing up & running. Just hate getting excited to have a portal but then everything's not accurate.

Yeahh in the same situation. Sent my letters via virtualevals back in early July. Give them time. I'm sure they're swamped right now.

I had the same reaction because my letters aren't up yet. But someone earlier in this thread said they talked to someone in admissions and they were working on uploading letters to their site this week. Hopefully that'll be done soon! 🙂 👍

EDIT: After checking, that person was you LateBloomer. So I guess you already know that 😳 lol

Hey guys,

I need a little help. I submitted my secondary application on 8/8 as a word doc. I recently received the e-mail with access to the applicant portal. It says they have not received my supplemental app. However, there is a supplemental application with all the same info as the word doc but the essay lengths say 1250 characters. My essays in the word doc were significantly longer than 1250 character (3,000 characters). Any advice? I've tried calling admissions a couple times now with no success.

Any info is greatly appreciated

I think it's fine. Don't worry about it. Also I got an email with those jumbled codes but when I clicked on message clipped in the gmail, I got my login info 🙂

Try emailing Kelly Early. She's been especially helpful & quick to respond. You should be fine; I submitted mine 8/11 and it shows up as received.
 
they havent got my letters yet apparently, have they gotten anyone eleses letters?
 
Kelly said they are working on uploading all of the letters into the portal. Just heard back from her .
 
So I got a call back from them after getting a voicemail and they said they're working on all the bug fixes now and will try to have them done today. On a side note, I found it absolutely hilarious that the guy in the voicemail self identified the school as "Moo-com"
 
So I tried to log in this morning to see if my portal was updated, and now it takes me to a completely different website, & I can't log in. Did this happen to anyone else?
 
When did you send in your letters, if you don't mind me asking?

I submitted mine on the 2nd and still nothing 🙁 Assuming the interview invites will start in September at this rate...

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions from studentdoctor.com:

- Regarding supplemental applications, a second round of invitations went out today. We personally screen all AACOMAS applications before inviting a candidate to complete a supplemental application; this pre-screen is for minimum qualifications for admission.

- Regarding our new admissions portal, we are the first paperless admissions process in the osteopathic medical school world. Even with extensive testing, we are encountering a couple bugs, which we are working quickly to fix. The portal, which is available if you are invited to complete a supplemental application, can be accessed at apply-mu-com.marian.edu. In advance, thank you for your patience and understanding.

- Regarding recommendations, we require three--one from an advisor or committee member, a science faculty member, and a physician (DO or MD). If you do not have an advisor or committee, please submit a second science faculty recommendation, preferably from a hard science with a lab.

- Regarding interviews, they will start in October and run on Friday afternoons and all day on Saturdays.

got a secondary today, applied primary about 3 weeks ago. letters sent and fees paid. good luck to everyone! hopefully MOOOOO COM shows us some love!

.In Interfolio, it says "Applicants MUST list letters being provided to MU-COM by Interfolio." Does this mean that we have to email them to let them know or attach a separate document stating what kind of LoRs are being sent?.

Did they give you log in infor for the portal? If so log in and look at your status. It will tell you if they have processed/received your secondary app yet.

Sent my letters through Interfolio 8/1 and still not listed as received in portal. just wanna know I'm complete so I can quit checking 100 times a day lol. really want an interview here.

would it be a bad idea to hold off sending my secondary in October?. I would like to hear from other schools first so I can possibly save some $$ on this secondary.
 
For those who have been screened for secondary, will a 24 (9,9,6) make the cut?

Also, could you please share the secondary prompts.

Did you just send your letters through Interfolio and nothing else? Like notifying the schools the list of your letters?

If you get screened, it wont be because of that.

I'm not really sure what this means. It's my first time seeing a message like this.

I remember seeing that message on Interfolio but I assumed it wasn't really necessary since no other schools ask for that. Did anyone else that uses Interfolio actually send a separate message to the school to notify them? Plus I did email Kelly a week afterward and that was when she told me they were still trying to get the computer system up and running. I guess I'll just email her again.

I apologize if this was addressed earlier but I couldn't find the answer. As far as the question about shadowing experiences on the secondary: did you guys just list your experiences in bullet form or did you write it out in paragraph form? It says describe so I assumed paragraph but i thought it would be clearer if I wrote in bullet format...thanks

I sent mine letters a little before you did and still not received.
 
Do we need to email them or anything to tell them the letters for our file are available now through virtual evals/interfolio? Or do they just do random checks to download letters?

Any new contact with MU-COM regarding letters getting uploaded...since that seems to be the thing so many folks are waiting to see as received in the portal...

Still waiting for my letters to get uploaded as well (sent on 8/6). If I had to venture a guess, I would say everything is just running way behind schedule. Working out system bugs and "setting up shop" is something that I can't imagine doing without a few hiccups here and there.

Also....I called admissions a week or so back to confirm that they received my letter packet and was told that they just haven't gotten around to downloading them as of yet. Since that point, I haven't heard anything.

Either way, hope this helps.

After receiving the "supplemental received, awaiting letters of recommendation" e-mail, I wrote Mrs. Early back saying "I understand how busy you must be, I just wanted to inform you my letters were sent via VirtualEval back in early July..." When the portal went online, everything showed received. Can't hurt to just inform them how and when your letters were sent.
 
Weighing in...
I also am complete up to the point of my letters being uploaded (sent over two weeks ago); so I called. It appears we are all in the same boat and Ms. Early said not to worry. Her advice was to give it until Monday of next week to check back and if then they weren't posted maybe give them a call or shoot them an e-mail again.
 
I did email Kelly again and she said they're still loading letters into the system.
 
Just checked the portal. I'm complete. Yay!! Now just need an interview invite and I'll be ecstatic!
