Hello! I am currently working on my first cycle application to 2 different programs and have some questions, would love some advice, just to feel like I'm submitting the best application that I can. Here is some info about me:
I'm a non-traditional student (a 32 year old mother of 2) who has...
Seeing that a lot of PT schools are admissions on a rolling basis, how early would you guys think early is? I'm planning on taking the GRE in mid-July, but I would like to maximize my time to study for the exam, so I'm considering pushing it to August.
What do you guys think?
Also, side...
So I have a list about 10 schools (which I plan on narrowing down more to apply to) but none of them require the GRE. I have taken practice GREs and I have no done stellar so I'm unsure if I should even take it because I would only send in my GRE scores if I did well
I just took my first practice test for the GRE and got a 140 and 142 :/
I have a big book to study and brush up and will take more practice ones before taking the real one in about 2 months, think I will be able to do much better to get those scores up to ideally 155-160 on each?
First time poster here. Graduated with a DDS in 2017 and am currently serving in the military with 4 years of commitment. During school I didn't feel like I got enough exposure to pursue any specific residency but now that I've been practicing for about a year I'm interested in Ortho. My GPA is...
I finally have my GRE scores and can make decisions about where to apply, but I have a significant disparity between my GPA and GRE scores. My cumulative GPA is a 3.5, my pre-req GPA is a 3.8 and last 60 GPA is about a 3.67. However, my GRE scores are a 162Q and 162V.
Are schools likely to...
My advisor recently told me a student of hers had to take the test last minute because a school requested it. The student wasn't applying for humanities or engineering grad programs.
Has this at all been the experience of anybody whose been through the cycle?
I've been browsing through the schools listed on the VMCAS descriptor page, and I see most schools ask for just the GRE. I assume this means the general test. Are there any schools out there that ask specifically for the GRE biology subject test?
Are there any accredited vet schools that don't require the GRE? I was going to wait another year to apply, but I'm second guessing myself and want to apply now. However, I don't have adequate time to prepare for the GRE and don't want to take it and bomb it in case schools I apply to in the...
MOD NOTE: We are now going to have one thread for all of the inquiries for competitiveness, what are my chances, do I have a shot, can I get into ABC University, etc. Most of the other SDN forums have found success with having one thread, so we are going to adopt that going forward.

I am currently in search of good Masters program. I have already applied to University of Michigan's molecular and integrative physiology program and Boston Universities MAMS program, and I was wondering if anyone could give me further guidance in term of what programs to apply to! Thank You!
I recently took the GRE and scored 156Q and 156V. The graduate school masters program that I intend to apply to (University of Michigan), states that the minimum competitive GRE score is 160 Quantitative and 155 Verbal. Should I consider retaking the test, or apply with the score I currently...
In the process of submitting an update with the following
1. Fall Grades
2. Publication
3. New Volunteering hours
4. GRE score??
Before the cycle started I took the GRE in case I didn't secure any acceptances and needed to apply to some SMPs.
Is it worth submitting my GRE Score to medical...
Hello! I am an undergrad student in my senior year right now and need different opinions on the next step I should take before applying to med school. My cGPA is 3.6 and my sGPA is around a 3.3-3.4. I have yet to take the GRE or MCAT. I am planning on taking the GRE general exam late this...
Hi, so I used to be a pre-med student. Change of hearts happened, now I am applying to grad schools. By the time I made this decision, it was pretty late. I have submitted my full applications to all the schools I wanted to apply to on time. However, I need to take the GRE later on. You see...
So, I am cramming for the GRE and taking it for the first time. My first application deadline is 12/1, for Harvard, but the other deadlines are mostly in Jan. If I don't do well, and retake the GRE, I can include the new score in my Jan applications, but what about for Harvard?
Would it be...
Hi there,
I am applying to Clinical Psychology PhD programs and a handful of my applications require GRE scores to be uploaded in PDF version. However, I took it three times to improve my quant score and I only want to report my scores from exam 1 and exam 3. I have stellar verbal and writing...
The NIH OxCam page states that GRE OR MCAT is required--but is there any preference? I will not be able to take the MCAT in time for the application so I will have to take the GRE, and so I'm curious if this is looked down upon at all.
I will be applying track 3 (i.e., doing the full PhD at...
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone would recommend some websites that offer free (great) practice exams and studying material for the GRE/GMAT? I would love to put down some cash to actually buy the books but I'm currently on a budget strain and that isn't an option for me at the moment.
Thank...
Hello!
Five years ago, during my undergrad, I was academically disqualified from my university's nursing program. It was my first and only semester. I continued my studies and received a health administration degree, but I still want to provide patient care. My overall GPA is a 3.1 and my...
Considering applying to graduate school? Don't let the GRE be a deterrent. Let's face it, standardized tests can be daunting. But if you follow these steps, you can break it down to be much more manageable. First things to ask yourself are:
How long has it been since you were in school?
Do you...
Hey guys,
So I will be applying to several OT programs in the next month or so. The dilemma I'm having is on whether or not to retake the GRE. I took it last week and didn't score as high as I expected. My questions is, should I just use my current scores and submit my applications early as I...
I'm using Magoosh to study for the GRE, and while I do great with the easy and medium questions, I struggle with a lot of the "hard" or "very hard" questions. I've heard that the math practice problems on Magoosh tend to be harder than what's actually on the test. Is this true?
Hopefully this helps people. Accurate with information from the first week of September 2017. If new information is not available, it remains from the prior update in April 2017.
Hello all,
I am about 3 years out of undergrad (read: especially concerned about being 6 years out of gen chem, 5 years out of orgo) where I majored in pre-vet. I'm currently obtaining my masters in marine biology, but I've recently started to feel that I won't be able to practice medicine the...
Sorry, but this is basically gonna be a "Chance Me" thread, and in particular I'm interested in learning the GRE scores of students who have been accepted to top schools like Columbia or Duke.
Stats:
Binghamton University
cGPA: ~3.6
Pre-Req GPA: ~3.6-3.75
GRE: 167V 157Q Haven't gotten writing...
Hello all!
I was wondering about the GRE scores. I know a lot of people on these forums say that if you do not meet the minimum stated, they wont look at your application. I emailed long beach asking them and they said its a recommendation to look competitive and not a requirement.
So my...
Okay, so I have a question regarding the Standardized Test score section of the SOPHAS. Im applying to Masters programs in Epidemiology in several schools.
Anyway, I took the GRE recently and did excellent in the verbal and essay section, however, my math was HORRIBLE. Im taking it again in 2...
Hello,
I'm applying for Winter 2018 and Summer 2018 enrollment for University of St. Augustine, San Marcos. I took my GRE today, and I'm not happy with my score. I am definitely retaking the test next month for a higher score, but these are my stats as we speak:
Pre-Requisite GPA: 3.63...
Hi all!
I am taking the GRE in 2 weeks and am starting to really stress over it. Geometry is just not my thing and never will be! My dream school is UIC and I know they are incredibly competitive. On their website it states that applicants with less than ideal GRE scores may still qualify "if...
Hey everyone! I'm in the midst of looking at PA schools to apply to this cycle, but would love some guidance on specific schools that I may be competitive for. I just graduated this May.
Stats:
Cum. GPA: 3.78
Science GPA: 3.64
Public health major, but I've taken all prerequisites with either an...
I just took the GRE yesterday, and I think I did pretty well on verbal (166) and quant (162), but I'm worried I bombed the AWA section. I was typing until time ran out... I finished my essays, but I barely looked over them, and I feel like my argument essay was kind of weak.
My main concern is...
Can anyone recommend a good source for studying for the math portion of the GRE? I have only take Elementary Algebra and Intro to Statistics in College and I did well in those classes. In high school I did not do well in math.
Hi, this is my first post. I created an account because I honestly have no idea if I should take the MCAT. I have no doubt in my mind that I could handle med school, but I have an interesting situation that I think might hold me back.
I never thought about being a doctor until a couple years...
Hello Everyone!
I am currently wanting to apply to OT school and I have everything I need but my GPA isn't good and my GRE score is below minimum. I have my bachelors in Psychology.
GPA: 2.4 GRE:280
I have taken the GRE twice and only went up 2 points. I took a course and got extra help for it...
LONG STORY SHORT, my GPA probably ain't gonna cut it (3.25 cGPA, 3. 2 sGPa). I still have a year to bring it to a 3.38 cgpa and 3.29 sGPa before I graduate and apply, but I still don't know if i'll make the cut, thus, im planning on post-graduation plans on the very likely chance that I end up...

Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to start a new thread in regards to finding out the different stats of those who were accepted into CSUDH most recently between the years 2014-2017. I plan on applying this August for the 2018 Spring Cohort. Overall, stats have been rising every year and I wanted to...
