Sorry to hear that bro...that bodes ill for me, I was small pooled that day as well and I'm also OOS. Hope that I don't get that letter!

ok so i was complete in early september because my grad program needed to send a letter to them and thats when it got there. i haven't heard anything from MCOW but I know they reject pretty early. Anyone else getting the silent treatment from here? I am basically just waiting for the rejection letter to come in the mail.

Been complete since early august, small pooled in August... nothing since then.

i know only 1 person (from the posts in this thread) who got small pooled on 9/29 and received interview invite....any1 else from this small pooled date with an interview...? any idea when those invites go out?

So, I just got my first email from any school. "small pool". I would have been excited if they didn't start out the email with "this is not an invitation to interview"

hope i get in.

small pooled today...mediocre MCAT very good GPA and lots of ECs...good luck everyone...i hope i get an interview!

does anyone have stats about the percentage of small pool that get interviews and percentage of small pool that actually get in?

I am at Marquette, and we just had the Director of Admissions from MCW come in to talk about the application process.

Their very first interviews begin tomorrow. I will paraphrase what he said, and I just want to say that this is from memory and my own personal paraphrasing. All interviews are done every other Friday. Apparently interview invitations are sent out on Thursdays, 2 weeks before the interview date.

The small pool is ranked on the basis of "strength of credentials" and date of completion. Last year, the pool had approximately 1700 students. 600 were given interviews. The interview invitations are sent out to batches of students using the ranking system. They move on down the line. If you are interviewing for a spot in the class, you are told that. If spots are running low, you are told that. Finally, if you are interviewing for an alternate spot, you are told that.

Looks like 1/3.

For those that just received the small pool email, do you mind sharing when you were complete?

I sent my LORs in on 10/3. I think their website says that I am complete on 10/8.

I am kinda pissed at my profs for taking 4 months! to write the letters. I was done with the secondary by Sept. 1st.

They are a private school, but they get some support from the state (the WI residents get a discounted tuition).

MCW is a private school... no state support directly to the school but the state of Wisconsin does pay $5000 of a Wisconsin students annual tuition...

I got my smaller pool email on 9/3 as well. I am a reapplicant with stats of 3.71/29N. Last year I got the smaller pool email on 10/8 and got an invite to interview in january. I interviews first week of feb and made 3rd quarter of the waiting list. i can only hope that being over a month ahead this year helps me a ton. i think that if you have made the smaller pool at this point, you have a good chance at getting an interview.

"small pooled" on 9/3; received rejection letter on 10/27. would have loved to gone to mcw. btw, they have a very friendly and competent admissions staff and their director, michael istwan, is very honest and straight-forward. 👍

I was small pooled, but did not get the email for some reason (not even in my gmail spam folder!!!!) Not sure when I was small pooled, but complete 9/8.

OOS. Good GPA/MCAT average ECs.

I was complete in late july. I have heard nothing since then. No small pool, big pool, any pool. Expect a rejection? Hmmmm😕

Last year, I was complete July/August and did not hear from MCW until sometime in the spring where my rejection letter came.

This year, I was complete early September and got small pooled at the end of September. Haven't heard since.

Dang, small pooled too. Stupid extra grad school letter that didnt make it on time. Is anyone getting off of the small pool list?

There have been a couple that got off the small pool in late october. Nothing since then...

For those wondering about the small pool...it has already been said before, but the small pool is a good thing. MCW keeps a very strict score on everyone based partly on date of completion and they simply move down the list when handing out interviews. Remember, they only have two interview days a month, so if you're not in November's list, then just wait a little longer for the rest of December's list to start coming out. Hang in there, most of you on the small pool (assuming you also have decent stats) will probably be interviewed. Good luck!

Complete 7/31/08, Small-pool email on 9/3/08
36T, 3.5, non-traditional; in-state vs. out-of-state debatable as I lived and worked in Wisconsin from February 2008 - August 2008

Small-pooled on 9/3. Just got my interview invite today for 12/8.

Complete 8/3/08; Small pool 9/3/08.

3.73GPA, 37S, decent ECs. And no news as of today.

I called them today to check on my app. Like some said before, they interview two days out of each month and apparently in December, because of the holiday, they only have one interview day (according to the admissions person on the phone with me).

This isn't true. Only about a third of the people in the small pool will be interviewed. And they only place people into the small pool if they have competitive stats and who may be offered an interview in the future.

anyone with any stats on how many acceptances are granted in relation to the number of interviews?

I have been complete at MCW since about September 17th, and I hadn't heard from them since about anything. I decided to call today, assuming they'd tell me I'm on hold, but it turns out I should have gotten the small pool e-mail a couple of weeks ago. I check my spam filters all the time and doubt it would have slipped by me, but either way, this was a relief! I know it's not an interview, but it's still one step closer...

Good luck to everyone else! If you haven't heard from them for a long time, it might be worth a call. They were really nice over the phone.

WOOHOO Just got accepted... E-mail at 7:06 am from Michael Istwan..

got accepted friday as well. was in the library when i read the email so i wanted to shout but i couldnt. 2nd time applicant, 29N 3.71 with lots of EC and research. it took me awhile longer than others with higher MCAT's, but man, do i appreciate it that much more this time around.

i talked with someone who is on the residency interview staff at MCW for tips on the interview (since the interview is a lot more important at MCW than other schools), and she gave me a lot of tips. if you have an interview and would like some tips, send me a PM and ill try to get back to you (don't check this site that often though)

good luck to all! it certainly feels good when it all pays off. keep working at it!!

YAY 👍

I was small pooled on 9/3 (complete 7/14) and I received an interview invite yesterday. The invite was for 12/5 and when I realized that I would need to reschedule a final to make it I called to see if there were any other open dates. The admissions office said that the only other date that they could offer me was January 23rd but then cautioned me that I would probably be interviewing for a spot on the waitlist.

I'm suprised they'll be filling their class so early. Are they a school known for their strong waitlist movement?

In the past, they have been known for pretty good waitlist movement, but the past two years, there was no movement at all. CRAZY!!!
