I like those numbers a lot more than their 'accepted' averages. 😀 I think they tend to take the bulk of the class off the waitlist, so patience will be the key with Sinai.

Has anyone else's picture been stretched or squished weirdly on the "Review" page? This isn't how it will be viewed, is it? 🙁

is anyone else having problems with paragraphs all lumping together into one big paragraph for the essay? I have two paragraphs but it wont let me seperate them out! ugh...

I'm 2 for 2: squashed picture (looks like my reflection in a funhouse mirror) AND no paragraph breaks in my essays. I'm letting the picture thing ride, since it seems to be happening to everyone else, but I emailed them a reformatted version of my essay to make it easier to read.

Now it's time for prayer, incantations, voodoo--whatever works. I REALLY want this school.

wish i had some. too bad its not easier to judge how you stand in the scope of things

the photo thing happens bc your photo is not exactly 300 by 300 pixels

does sinai email you when you are complete, or do you have to call during the set hours to find that out?

they do send you an e-mail for the secondary app being completed. but that doesn't mean that they have received the letters (albeit most likely they did if you have submitted). if you want to know, you have to call them up on either monday or wednesday from 2-4p (i think) to check whether they have received the letters. i LOVE sinai, but i don't understand why they don't just have a status check online- pretty ghetto. and inefficient.

My school took forever sending out my committee letter--it was just uploaded to Virtual Evals yesterday. About how long does is take for Sinai to mark you complete after your LORs are sent?

Yeah...Sinai's not the online one with no status check (AECOM comes to mind), but to their credit they are super nice when you call! And yes the status check times are M/W 2-4 EST.

Interview Invite!!!!!!

What is the best way to get to the interview in terms of cab, subway, shuttle?
Also where would the students stay? I know absolutely nothing about NYC...

Thanks!
and
No Idea... I never called them, but I submit my secondary on the 7/29, and my letters must have been received at least two weeks later...

They didn't call me or e-mail me when I was complete. I just called them a couple hours ago to check and they said I was complete. So I'm not sure if that's what everyone has to do, or if it was just me.

Hurray! My first post-secondary interview invite! 😀 I don't even know when I was complete because Mount Sinai doesn't have a status page, and I didn't call to check 😛 It's true what they say, you can never predict when an interview is going to come.

congrats! you can stay with a med student host in aron hall and sleep over on the couch before the interview. aron is across from the school -it's a 5 minute walk at most. the easiest way is to take a cab from the airport to aron (50 east 98th st). they charged around $35 w/ tip, hopefully it's still around that. if you want to try the subway, it's $2 each way and you can look up the trains on www.hopstop.com 🙂

yeah, thats what everyone has to do, ugh! but at least the lady who answers sounds nice

the interview date was assigned... do you think i should call to try to get it over with earlier?

i'm not sure when it was 'completed' because i never got an email confirmation or anything; the LOR was done through Virtual Evals, though, so i can't imagine that it was much later than when they received the packet.

I've taken those buses before. They tend to be late at times and not extremely comfortable. Give plenty of time in case something happens. good luck!!

Oh dear. Give yourself PLENTY of time if you're taking fung wah. They break down a lot and they're generally really sketchy. You might want to invest in greyhound 😛

now i just have to look up directions for the subway in nyc.

Just take the #6 local to 96th St. This will leave you at 96th and Lexington Ave. (locally known as Lex). Walk 2 blocks east to Madison Ave., and 2 blocks north to 98th St.

actually chinatown buses like fungwah or luckystar are very punctual. buses like megabus, greyhound, boltbus are not. they tend to leave 10-20 min after the scheduled time. also the chinatown buses have 30 minutes shorter ride than the other buses. but i do agree that they are quite uncomfortable when the buses are full. 😀

sweet, thanks for the directions 🙂 the metro is waaay more complicated than the T, haha

i always take Fung Wah, and i haven't had any problems with them, except when i'm traveling around thanksgiving (ugh, the wait..)

since the interview is at 8 in the morning, i'm leaving the day before, after work, and staying with a student host. hopefully that should give me plenty of time in the morning to get ready for the interview!

Oh how I miss the T! The NYC subway looks more complicated but its not that bad. If you understand the T you can become a subway master.

haha the T is totally weird for someone who took the NYC subway practically all their life.

Definitely! My first time in Boston I was completely shocked by one subway station where when I exited the T car (haha T car!) and I had to cross the tracks in front of the train to get to the "platform". That's just crazy!

yeah!!

does anyone know what days of the week MSSM interviews on? and has anyone sent an "im going to be in the area..." email?

Did they tell anyone else that it will take 6-7 weeks to hear back from when you were complete?

i just called for some clarification. they keep all files open till march, so she said it can be very quickly or take a while

so far i've seen applicants here M-F 🙂 don't give up hope

I sent one of those emails when I was invited to AECOM on 8/25. I didn't get any response and haven't received an invite to interview. 🙁

well, i sent an email to MSSM last night and got a response back this morning basically saying they'll make a note in my file but until the committee decides to interview me theres nothing that can be done. 😎
