The status page says complete and gives a date for when the letters were received once they process your app.

Could some complete people give us a timeline of when you submitted your secondary/requested your LoRs and how long it took to have your status page updated to anything beyond "Thx for $100!"?

I'm complete, you can look at my mdapps to see the timeline (I marked all the dates, I think).

I have the same timeline as LET... submitted 7/10, letter service sent LORs on 7/10, and the complete message came up on 7/22. Not super fast, but better than some other schools. *cough* Louisville *cough*

Submitted 7/10, LORs sent same day via interfolio, complete 7/17 and currently under review

Congrats on the interview!

Does anybody still have this as their LOR message?

"In order to view your received evaluations your secondary application must first be processed by the Admissions Office."

I checked this morning and had that message and just logged back in to copy exactly what it said and it now says complete:

"Your Secondary Application was completed on 08/05/2008 and is currently under review."

I submitted and paid my fee on 7/8/08 but my mcat didn't come out until about 7/18 so maybe that is why it took so long.

I still have that message... and I submitted on 7/10!?!

SchoolSucks... did you have that message until today?

Thanks you guys; I appreciate it. I do not know what message I had, i never checked my status. this was just random. and i was finished with everything and under review 7/18ish.

PS: I checked their MSAR numbers, and they interview like 1,400 applicants....so do not despair! GOOD:luck:LUCK, i really hope you guys get an interview. we could pick a similar date and check out NYC

So, maybe I should've researched this before I submitted my primary, but for NYMC LOR's, I have one from physics, one from biology, one from a SF neurosurgeon, and one from my Tanzanian AIDS education program executive director. Point being, with my major being biochemistry, i don't have a letter from my major, and my school does not do a committee letter, should i not submit my secondary, because I don't think at this point, I could confidently ask for a letter from a prof in my major.... aw man...😕

Tanzanian AIDS education program? Man, how am I supposed to compete?

haha. yea. i dont know... just kidding! but it was an AMAZING experience. I miss Tanzania so much. but, apparently, it won't help me with my secondary, bc I dont have a letter from my department.

its so mem.

Dude I graduated 5 years ago... do I need one? I sure hope not. Many of them may be dead by now haha

My assumption is that if you have a bio type or chem type major you can get a letter of rec from a prof in that dept and not necessarily from a prof who specifically taught a biochem course? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

submit it! I dont think they will care, a bunch of these rules are just ******ed. If they ask, just explain your situation, and everything should be okay.

For example, I do not have a non science teacher, seeing as I took all my GE classes years ago, and the last one i took recently I did CR/NCR and passed with a C- lol. No effin way I am getting a letter from that class. Point being, many schools require a letter from a non science teacher, so I emailed them and they told me no biggie, just explain my sitation and the admissions committee will take it into account, and they will tell you if its okay. So far no one has asked, but if they do, I will just send them a email explaining.

So basically they vary from 7-14 days to process LoRs from people? Guess I can wait a few more days before I go neurotic. Thanks guys!

I just got the message that I'm complete and under review, and I submitted the supplemental and LORs on 7/15. They say it takes 3-4 weeks to process.

I'm also now complete and I submitted everything on the 8th, but got my MCAT on the 15th.

I am FINALLY complete and under review! I submitted as soon as I got the email on 7/10. My LORs were submitted via VirtualEvals on 7/17.

did you get an email?

I was contacted by NYMC because they had a question about my secondary.

I've tried calling back EVERYDAY since they called... yet no response. Anyone else been called with a questions about their secondary?

Actually I didn't get a 'complete' email. I found out by logging into the status website and seeing that my status was changed (and my LORs were listed).

whew, thanks for clearing that up 🙂

Got an email today that one of my letters wasn't on official letterhead (uploaded through interfolio) so I will be having the prof mail it in I guess.

oh boy, what a ridiculous requirement, how are we supposed to know what kind of letterhead our confidential recs are written on and what does it matter! Were you previously marked complete on the website before receiving this email?

no wasn't complete because I just took the MCAT and scores come out in a few weeks (Sept 9)... but the website has the letter they said needs resubmitted listed as received so who knows.

I submitted my secondary app on 7/13, but the status page still doesn't show that my secondary was processed... it's been almost a month!! 😕

I was in nearly the same situation. I submitted 7/10, sent my LORs 7/17, and wasn't processed until 8/6. They don't process your application until it's under review. I'm sure you'll be hearing something soon. Good luck!

Chad, do you know for sure that they don't process the app until its under review? or is that just speculation.

yay i got my first interview with NYMC today

it's good to know that my letters of recs are decent enough for an interview!!

i dont have a letter from a professor in my major...i have 2 from research prof, one from orgo and one from physician...all compiled into a committee letter...since i have committee letter, the requirement for that 1 letter from your major can be neglected, correct?
otherwise how r u suppose to fix this problem...my committee has already sent out the letter to all schools.

Congrats! I hope to get an interview with them (again) !

my status FINALLY changed to under review!

I submitted 7/31 and was complete on 8/15.

I DID NOT get a complete e-mail.

So I submitted my LORs via Interfolio on 7/29 as well as the supplemental app the same day but it still says:

In order to view your received evaluations your secondary application must first be processed by the Admissions Office.

Should I be calling them since it seems someone who submitted on 7/31 is already complete?

The experiences I've had so far calling admissions offices have been largely unpleasant. They seem to assume I'm stupid and must have made some stupid mistake and that's why my application isn't complete yet (and not once has it been my fault...all 3 times (3 diff. schools) it was a glitch on their end🙁)

I would def stay on top of things. I was "afraid" of calling another school too many times last cycle and kept getting presumptuous responses. I wondered why my status never changed. So I called them one final time.....turns out the staff member forgot to add my letters that had been sitting for weeks. That was Nov. 30!! (Don't worry. It was not NYMC) Just say you are calling to confirm that your letters were received.

Also, I am a re-applicant to NYMC. So, they may have just updated a pre-existing file under my name. Perhaps this is why I was complete quicker.

The four letters that were sent from my school to NYMC does not include a letter from my major...will I run into problems?

anyone have any luck getting ahold of people for hosting interview stays?
i've emailed two people thus far and no response.

congrats to everyone getting interviews!
i was just verified yesterday so, i want to get the NYMC secondary out by today. but i had a few questions. i emailed [email protected], but they haven't replied.

For "Evaluator Title", does it mean what position does the professor hold at the University?
Secondly, for credit hours earned, my school runs on a quarter system. Should the credit hour be in semester or quarter format?
And lastly, my one of my course title is too long to fit into the provided space, is it acceptable that I abbreviated the course title?

Thanks so much guys!

🙂 gluck

1. i wrote professor's title. like mine was assistant professor, etc.
2. i don't know
3. i had to abbreviate, but i'm sure they can figure it out.

I submitted my secondary on August 1st but have yet to be "processed." I just emailed them about processing time and got a reply within 15 minutes:

"It takes 4-8 weeks for an application to be processed. Please check your status online."

congrats to everyone getting interviews!

Hey,

Check NYMC website for their preferance on quarter hours. If they don't have anything listed give them a call. Also, I think your abbreviation should be find. You could also post your abbreviation here to see if we can figure it out.
