Has anyone came back from interviewing here? How was your experience?

try the interview feedback, it gives you the questions interviewers ask and how they felt about the atmostphere, students there etc. good luck on your interview, i hope i get one soon

To the person who posted the new interview feedback: thanks!

If you read this, do you mind sharing more about the experience? How far can a conversational interview go? I mean, do you just chat about anything? Did it seem like he was evaluating you on any particular points or kept bringing up anything?

Sorry to bombard with questions 😛

Anyone receive an invite that was complete after 9/9? My status hasn't changed for a month and I'm tempted to call.

If interviewing after 10/15, how many days after the interview does NYMC usually notify you of an acceptance, a rejection or a waitlist?

I'm not sure if someone else already mentioned this, but at my interview there a few weeks ago, they told us that they're not going to start sending acceptances until December.

Give them some time, if you weren't complete until 9/9 then it hasn't even been a month. The school receives like 8000+ application and if you look at mdapps you will see that most people are running slighty over a month from completion to interview invitation.

I have been complete since 8/15 and still have nothing 🙁

Check the invite thread to see a correlation between complete and invite dates. Some people are being invited after being complete for 3 wks, others much longer.

What else is there to know? (not to be mean). They basically just said that first acceptances will be heard in December - via e-mail. If you get a piece of paper in the mail, and u don't have an e-mail = rejection

Gotcha. I guess I was just hoping someone would tell me that person heard wrong, and they will be sending word out sooner. Guess not!

Just received the interview invite this morning. Whoohoo! That's #3 for me, but it's not scheduled until 1/26, so I have a ton of time to sweat over it. Best of luck to those still waiting!

Your Secondary Application was completed on 07/17/2008 and is currently under review.

Do they ever change your status to pre-interview hold? I've been 'under review' forever =P

I am a re-applicant to NYMC and have had the same message since 8/15.

Last year, I had the same message from 10/15 (when I was complete) until I was invited for an interview in February. My date last year was in late March. As far as I know, there is no distinct pre-interview hold. Good luck to all of us who are waiting!

yeah mine still has that status too... altho if i hear good news on oct15th i may withdraw.

So the concensus is that most people have to wait about at least 2 months from being complete to get an interview invite???

I was complete 9/2 and was wondering whether or not to call. The webpage says it's under review, but would it still be good to call and make sure, or will they just think that's annoying? I just worry with all the horror stories of stuff being lost or forgotten...

i was complete on 9/3, as the status page indicates.

i also haven't heard anything and there is no information under the decision section. how long does it take them to review apps?

They say give them 4 weeks. If it's been 4 weeks of being complete and nothing has changed, I'd definitely call. However, that was in late July/early August that they were saying 4 weeks, so they are probably backed up now and I'm sure its normal that they are taking longer.

haha complete and under review since 8/18.. i am thinking that they will not be offering me an interview. lol oh well

3 weeks from completion (9/5ish) to interview.

So arbitrary..

Has anyone that has already interviewed had a change of the status page?

Interview invite this morning! Interesting how mostly only the New York schools seem to be responding to my application favorably.

Haha, the same thing's happening to me, but I love NY so I won't complain!

Interview Invite today =)... earliest date was in the first week of FEBRUARY... wow are they filled up already or something?

So I submitted on 7/21/08 and was marked complete one month later (ah!!) on 8/21/08 and as of today, I have had no news. Can I call these guys to see what's going on with my application? Or do they not like calls? I saw on their admissions webpage that they will not respond to individual status emails.

Am I the only one who wants to pull his/her hair out?

I was marked complete on 8/22 and just received my interview invite 1 1/2 weeks ago. Also, by reading this thread, you can see that plenty of people received their invites just today. So it's probably safe to say that your wait time hasn't been excessive compared to everyone else's, so just try to be patient 🙂

interview invite today too, and I honestly had given up on this school considering I was complete in the beginning of August. SOOO, this just proves that you definitely still has a chance.

I received and submitted my secondary at the end of July, and my application status page says that my AMCAS and payment made it through, but doesn't say that my secondary is complete.

My LORs didn't get sent in until Oct 2, but the page makes it look like you should be processed before LORs go in.

It seems like they don't want to be contacted about app status, but it shouldn't take them 3 months to process my secondary, and it doesn't say that they ever received it (though it was done over the internet, so they must have).

Does anyone know if the page is just misleading and they don't do anything until your LORs are in? If so, I can wait a couple more weeks. If not, I guess I'll call and bother them.

definitely give them a call, they won't bite, i promise

...

I'm pretty sure they don't start reviewing until they've received your LORs. the status page should say when they received your LOR. I was complete in mid sept. and just got an interview invite last week, so maybe you have to wait a little longer. Still, a call can't hurt

my secondary wasnt processed until 2 weeks after my LORs were in

I withdrew my application the other day -- so there's one more spot for the rest of you. Good luck everyone.

In case anyone else shows up with the same question, I called and was told by the hotline that it's 2-4 weeks after they're received the LORs, so I've still got a week before I should start worrying.

Thanks everyone.

hey pazan, how did you withdraw? as in what method?

For those who interviewed already, what time did you fly out of NY (JFK, LGA, or HPN)? I'm trying to book a flight, but I'm not sure how long it takes to get to the airport after the interview.

complete since 8/19/08 and no news. i tried to call them about a letter of rec issue and they were very rude. it didnt' seem like they take kindly to contact in general (they don't respond to emails about status...at least that's what they're website says).

any suggestions? Give them a call? Let it linger?

I'm complete since 08/05/08 and I called them two weeks ago. The lady on the phone didn't give me any information, rather she was in a hurry to hang up the phone. Her exact words - trust me, there is nothing more than that is on your status page. She didn't even bother to ask for AAMC # to check the status. I'm also a reapplicant. Hoping for some good news

Hi everyone - Is there anything I can do around the area after the interview for fun? I figured I'm taking the plane all the way to NY; might as well do something other than just an interview day while I'm there! So my interview is Tues but I'm planning on staying around until Wednesday early evening... But of course I'm looking for something that isn't too expensive (especially transportation fee from JFK to Valhalla to ___)

I'd agree that they don't welcome contact from applicants. Many people have had to call them in order to get marked complete; I did so myself at the 3-week mark, and the person I spoke to said that I had JUST been declared complete (as in 1 minute before I called). But once you're complete, I think you just have to wait it out.

This is really one of the most applicant-unfriendly schools I have ever known.

I just now canceled my mid-November interview. If anyone is scheduling an interview (or wants to reschedule), take my spot! Good luck! :luck:

I had to *call* these guys to find my reference letter and finally get my complete status. This was on October 16th, which is also when my application was considered complete.

Since then, haven't heard a peep from NYMC. Should I call, or wait it out?

Edited to add: this was when I had sent the letters out via Interfolio in late August or early September, if I recall correctly. Makes me so mad :'(

Same boat. I submitted my application on October 2nd and sent my LOR the same day using Interfolio. After a month of no news, I called them yesterday and they told me I was now complete November the 3rd. I guess it will be ages before hearing from them again.

Does anyone know when NYMC will start notifying people about post interview decisions? I interviewed on 10/21, had a great experience and can't wait to hear back. Their website says 8 to 12 weeks until you get information about the post interview decision. Does anyone know if they send anything out on a certain date (their own 10/15 so to speak) or is this done in a rolling style?

At my interview they told us it would definitely be 10-12 weeks. Those who interviewed in September wouldn't find out in December. It sounds like it's pretty much rolling rather than "waves" of acceptances but I'm really not sure.

but it's not until March... any indications on what that might mean...honestly? will my chances by that point be pretty diminished? still excited nonetheless, but just wondering what people's opinion were on this. THANKS!

Me too! im excited and wondering the same things. also, reading the interview feedback is kind of unnerving...maybe its because im only reading the negative ones.

I just got one too! Not until Feb 24... and I agree that the interview feedback is pretty scary.

Do you think you guys will room with the students or stay in a hotel?

stay with a student and save yourself money.maybe try to find someone who you can share a taxi with too. goodluck.

I interviewed at NYMC in early October. I had read the negative interview feedback posted as you have. What I can say, is that my experience was nothing like those, and there is no need to stress yourself out. I stayed with a student host who was really friendly and laid back. My actual interview was very relaxed as well and went really well, so I think. I believe that a good vs. bad interview really depends on who interviews you. If you two get along with them you will have a good time if you clash with the person it will probably be a bad interview. My one problem with NYMC is that you have to wait 10 to 12 weeks post interview to hear back from them, the wait is killing me!

good luck to all your interviews! wow, i got my invite 11/7 and there were slots in mid january to mid febrary but it seems all the slots are already filled until march now?
