I interviewed in mid Jan. and just got an email saying that I was on the "alternate list." I was wondering how many people get off that list and what my chances are at this point.

I interviewed on the 13th and just found out this morning via e-mail that I have been alternate listed...

Interesting, but I look forward to seeing it play out! So 5 weeks and 3 days to hear back post interview... Good luck!!

I guess I should be hearing from them soon, unless they aren't going in order of interview dates.

I interviewed the 13th too, and still no news... eeek! I'm thinking it's a bad sign, but I'd really like to know either way... maybe I'll hear back later today? I wonder if St. Louis is like other schools that accept very few students until early March, and then work from the alternate list. Good luck everyone!

Sorry to hear that DrJD. Good luck! I remember some SDN people did get off the alternate list last year, unfortunately, I was not one of them ...

I got accepted today! I can't believe it, its really going to happen. So greatful to SLU, for the acceptance. Its been two years and 39 apps. I feel for people still waiting though, keep working at it!

Congrats! When did you interview?

Congrats! When did you interview?

Thanks! Yeah, I was that 1/12 too. I remeber Dean Wilmore talking about his golf tournament. Don't remember who gave the tour, though ... Hope you hear soon.

I was the Canadian guy at the interview.

I was the Canadian guy at the interview.

Oh yea, i remember you were like the life of the party, cause everyone wanted to know about being Canadian and premed, including me. Not sure there was anything distguinshing about me - i volunteered, unecessarily, that my parents went to McGill ... Good luck!

I was placed on the alternate list today as well. Not as good as an acceptance, but certainly better than a rejection.

Just got my acceptance today! Interviewed 1/13/ Good luck everyone!🙂

Congrats Egorr11!!!

I interviewed 1/13 also, and still no news. I think I'll call Monday if I don't hear back by then...

Typical Premed, have you heard from slu yet? You interviewed on 1/12, right?

I did interview on 1/12 and still no news. I spoke to them earlier this week and they said they were a bit behind.

I had a regional interview on the 15th of January and just got the alternate list email :xf:

Does anyone know is SLU actually rejects post-interview...or is everyone placed on the list?

Thats when I interviewed too, in SF. I am curious about this as well. If anyone has information on this please share.

So they let me know that i won't be able to stay with one of the students- did anybody stay at a hotel at a reasonable price around SLU?

Any information is greatly appreciated- as im desperately looking for alternate lodging options (at ~$25-50).

anyone know if the class is full? is the waitlist ranked?

Davy, I interviewed then too and nothing yet. Crickets.

Hey everybody,

I received an interview invite today and signed up for one on 3/31 (earliest date). I assume this will be for a waitlist spot, but I figure why not... St. Louis is a great city and it's w/in driving distance. How has SLU been in the past in terms of accepting late interviewees? Lots of waitlist movement?.. or not so much. Thanks!

I don't know how much relevance this has but I go to SLU now and one of my professor's son's interviewed last year on the last day of the cycle and got waitlisted and then accepted in June. So I imagine there will be at least some movement if not a standard amount like most other schools. Hope that helps! 🙂

Any action out there? Anyone receiving post-interview decisions?? I'm thinking of calling soon.....

I would only go if you have money to spare or want to check out the city, it definitely was not as nice as the other schools you've been accepted at.

Did anyone (post-interview) hear back today? I'm hoping that they review by interview week, and look at people... alphabetically? randomly? I just hope that they don't review after ranking....

i just interviewed witht dr. willmore today.

he said 3-4 wks

Congrats to everyone who's been accepted and good luck to everyone on the waitlist.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about a second look day.

Just got invited for an interview today. Planned for 4/7. It never said anything about interviewing just for the waitlist like I have heard some late interview invites mention. I assume it is a legit full chance interview but does anyone know for sure?

Does anyone who has interviewed already at SLU have any advice for interview day? Just scheduled one for April. Is it a laid back interview?
Thanks for help 🙂

I had mine on 1/13 and haven't heard back yet. Not good, I'm thinking...

Just called and was told I'd be notified by e-mail when they make a decision...

She said it normally takes 6-8 weeks, but I'm at the 8 week mark. *sigh. Please SLU, show me some love.

I guess it's quite variable in when they'll inform you, ahh, ... good luck!! taking longer may not be a bad thing

so I called up the admissions office said, and they told me that they definitely take more than 10 students form the waitlist. The exact number varies but it is definitely more than 10. They do have a ranking system but they cannot tell the students their rank. Moreover, they dont wait till JUne or July to decide on the alternate list, so anyone placed on the alternate list can expect to hear from them now until the beginning of class in september.

I got how did you come to medicine, describe a situation in which you used personal skills to solve a problem; and questions about my various activities and clinical expereinces. last year i got those and why SLU. they were both friendly and non-intense interviews, more on the conversational side, but not 100% ... hope that helps, good luck!

Yeah...so i got an interview invite as well...not too sure what to say. I really wasnt expecting this. Anyone care to share thoughts about the school?

I interviewed 1/15. I emailed the admissions office and they replied that "no decision has been made as of yet, but as soon as anything has been decided, you will be notified by email. Thank you for your patience."

Also, does anyone know the admissions office phone number? I couldn't find it on the website (I'm sure they do that purposefully)....

I was told the same thing on Friday over the phone, but it was nice to talk with someone. I found the number on my interview schedule: 314-977-9875

Good luck!

Also, I love your profile pic.

I got an interview invite today...

I'm wondering if its worth the time and money this late in the cycle...

Hii moro85, I had a regional interview with Dr. Willmore a couple weeks ago. I got asked for one memorable experience for pretty much all of my extra-curriculars. I also got asked about my research pretty in-depth. I mean, it was pretty standard. Nothing too surprising. Hope that helps you!

...i interviewed 3/4, and am not looking forward to this crazy long wait to hear back! 🙁

how does the regional interview work? Does that mean you can interview somewhere outside st louis?

I interviewed there yesterday- they said the committee is meeting today and next week!

Thanks for the number, Rebs. And yes owls are awesome.

Regarding regional interviews: I bet they just offered people the option if they happened to live close to where a regional interview was being held. When I logged in to schedule my interview, I was able to choose St. Louis or San Francisco and that's it. It looked like there were two days of interviews in SF and maybe ~15 people/day. I definitely missed out on getting a feel for the campus, faculty, students, etc. because I interviewed in SF, though. Something to think about but I bet they're finished with regional interviews at this point.

Haha, no fair. I live in Southern California, and I could only choose from a few interview dates in St. Louis.
