um...email? more waiting? Maybe there's someone who has contacted them with success

they said please do not call to ask about status. if you have any other questions apart from your application status please email ...

did you send an update letter? I'm almost positive thats why I got my interview.

what type of information did you write in your update letter?

i have been complete since august. i'm pretty sure they should've gotten to my app by now. but the letter said specifically DO NOT CALL ABOUT STATUS so i don't know what to do.

I would definitely send them an email about it. If they ask, just act like you never saw that message. The worst they can do is not reply to you.

Well, you should only write an update letter if you have something meaningful to update them about. I wrote this earlier in this thread, but examples might include publications, new clinical experience, etc. An update letter is not necessary to tell them you're still interested or anything like that. Unfortunately this process is a long one. Hang in there.

i gave a platform talk at a major conference on my research, so i wrote about that and a couple other new activities.

email. but i think either is fine.

happy holidays everybody. I gave up my acceptance today & I hope one of you guys gets it!

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope Santa has an acceptance letter for all of us.. 🙂

drlyss, how did you withdraw? i paid my deposit and stuff and was going to wait until fin aid before withdawing...

IDEAL TENANT:

Employed or a student with co-signers; responsible; low-key & generally cool and laid back (but not too much that you can't remember to pay rent in time or remember to turn off the stove - yikes!)

This apartment is my baby (sad, but true) so I'm looking for someone to take good care of it (I know, it's only an apartment but still, it would be great to find someone who would make a real home out of it).

Email me if this sounds like you. Things I'd like to know are your age, occupation, interests or anything you'd like me to know about you, and your availability for viewing (please give me a range of times and dates).

These pictures don't do justice to this place. It's just one of those places you'll HAVE to see in person. Trust me!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Never received a "Hold" letter, but silent.

Does anyone know what this means? I got a 4.0 this semester (endocrine, osteology, physio, neurobio) and am hoping a grade update will help. However, since I was never put in the pending-grades group where do I stand?

Bump

1. Make sure your app is complete at the school. You should be able to log in to see the status of your application items.
2. If you've been complete for over 2 or 3 months, shoot over a quick email just to make them aware of the situation and be polite. More likely than not, they'll probably say you're still under review or something. But sometimes people slip through the cracks.

I sent a status check email, I have been complete for at least 2 or 3 months and I never received a response. Is that a silent rejection?

I'm not on any admissions committee or staff, but when I hear or read that a school does not want any form of communications in the meantime, I interpret that as "do not be paranoid - chill out." But when it's been so long without any news, I personally will break that rule and ask for an update if possible, even if all they say is "you're still under review." The process is too long, too expensive, and too important. Sometimes you gotta be pro-active about your future.

If you write an email, make sure to explain yourself. I think it's important that they know you're not just another paranoid pre-med who was too lazy to check the online status page (whose email they shouldn't disregard anyway, but better safe than sorry). Let them know it's been so and so long since you were complete and that you would appreciate a quick update on your application. If you don't hear back within a week, try calling them. I don't recall ever having a problem when speaking with someone in the admissions office. Don't forget that we're now on break so you might just want to wait until after new year's.

Now, the 2 or 3 months I gave, it's just an arbitrary number. Maybe this application cycle is crazier and the standard is now 4 months. But that's ridiculous. Anyway, that's just my disclaimer. Good luck to you folks.

As far as I know, that's not possible. The admissions staff do not accept or reject applicants. That's the committee's job.

🙁 at least you have other acceptances

yeah i know. i'm really grateful for my acceptances. but downstate was also one of my top choices. i think i'm just going to take this as a rejection because they haven't asked for any updates of grades etc. 🙁

Would you recommend flying into JFK or LGA to get to Downstate?

Would you recommend flying into JFK or LGA to get to Downstate?

They're pretty equivalent, but I would say LGA just because you'd be closer to the Jackie Robinson Parkway.

Would you recommend flying into JFK or LGA to get to Downstate?

that shouldn't be a consideration...pick the cheapest or most convenient flight regardless of where it lands. You can hop into a cab and get to brooklyn from either.

I was complete 9/30.. just checked my status and there is a new X for Fall grades

I find it interesting since I'm in grad school and I thought schools do not care too much about those grades.. but it is all good!

Fingers crossed 🙂

is that on the page with the check marks on the secondary app and LOR field completions?

Im waiting to hear back from Indiana. Thats my home state and letters only come out on the 15th og every month so I may just put up the deposit and see what happenes.. I am 95% sure though that I will go to SUNY

I want to send downstate my fall grades like they asked, but I have one professor that is taking FOREVER to add the grade.

I have six As this semester, and the missing grade is not going to be lower than an A- (hoping for A through). Do the grade updates actually accomplish anything?

Yea, i'm waiting for a teacher to change one of my grades from B+ to A- cuz she made a mistake 🙁, should be a few days hopefully. But i got two As and two A-s and if that doesnt get me an interview... 🙁
