about 4 days after my interview date, I sent an email with an update attached and two emails to be forwarded to my interviewers. I asked whoever received the email if they could attach my update to my application and forward my two emails. I didnt expect to get any acknowledgment from them but a day later i received an email telling me that 1. they had gone ahead and attached the update to my application and 2. that they had forwarded my thank you emails to the appropriate people...

Anyone know when Davis will stop sending out interview invites?

Anyone know when Davis will stop sending out interview invites?

I don't know a date, but I would think that they will be sending interview invites for a while, due to the fact that no one has been accepted yet.

That's odd, I got an e-mail on the same day as my interview telling me that I could send in an update. I e-mailed the address in the letter and never got anything back so I assumed they got it. They may have changed their procedure though as I know mine was one of the first dates.

Did you get an e-mail asking for an update after your interview?

Yea, I definitely did, and that was the email address that I responded to. I interviewed on the first day.

I realize I'm applying MD/PhD, but I was wondering if anyone who's gotten an interview invite recently has been having problems finding a time on the status page. There aren't any times available to me on my page. I tried calling the office, but was told I should just keep checking back until slots become available. Anyone else having similar problems?

i called this morning. they haven't even had their first adcom meeting yet, and won't have their first one for another two weeks.

what the.

😱 Thats messed up. They should have said 2-4 months instead of 6-8 weeks.

i desperately want an interview from davis and I've been complete since october? Can it still happen for me? I know people who got invited a while ago that were complete around the same time

They're so behind that I'd say that they're around the point that most schools were at back in October. That is to say, considering that they haven't even started accepting anyone yet, my guess is that there are plenty of invites left.

March 6th was probably the last day they had set up at that time. For example, when I called Nova-Southeastern (DO school, yea, yea, shun the non-believers 😛) to set up my interview they had one date left for an interview and told me to call back the next day because they should have the next set of interviews ready to schedule at that time.

sorry if this has been asked before:

How does UC Davis notify an applicant of an invitation to interview; by phone?, email?, postal mail?

You can also tell if you get an interview through the status page. A link for "interview" shows up near the top next to the other links. This is how you schedule your interview as well. I found out and scheduled my interview this way about a week before I got the actual invitation.

UC DAVIS!

COME ON ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

please? 🙂

Seriously. If they are still going by what you reported in your last post, then we probably wont hear anything until around the 20th at the earliest.

yes

SAME HERE! I havent received an interview invite yet, so I am still waiting. I am really hoping I get a chance at this but the waiting is killing me 🙂

Good luck to everyone

That can't be right, a colleague of mine who personally know someone at the admission committee said that UCD Med school has been actively interviewing and granted plenty of acceptance to students.
Right now they're screening applicants with a verbal score of 10 and 9 that they wanted to invite for an interview.

That would be weird if they've sent out "plenty of acceptances" and nobody on here has heard anything...They told me they would send out decisions mid-Feb, so I'm not expecting any word until next week at least

So they sort their applicant pool by verbal MCAT score?

It's possible, but I wouldn't count on it, as the poster that you quoted was wrong on the fact that plenty of acceptances have been sent. Nobody has been accepted as yet.

There was supposed to be a skeptical tone of voice in my post (/me fails, again). Out of all the numbers to sort applications by, I've gotta wonder why any adcom would choose verbal. The only thing less likely to sort by would be the score for the essay section.

No, I don't believe they do, seeing as how I got an interview the second week they were offered and I did really poorly (8) on Verbal. I don't think UC Davis looks at one section/one part of an application like that; I think they take the entire app into consideration. But just my thoughts.

As for the acceptance situation thus far, I called on Monday for an update and they said they have yet to have their first adcom meeting and that they "do not have a timeframe" for me. So, waiting game continues.

Apparently statistic has shown that students with high verbal score on the MCAT tends to perform well on the USMLE.

I think UC Davis looks at everything on the app pretty well. I think they interview a well-balanced group. I did get an interview in Jan with pretty average verbal score. So I wouldn't worry ttoo much about it right now. Good luck to those of us still waiting..

I am pretty sure they take everything into consideration: GPA, MCAT, ECs, Personal Statement, and URM status.
I've just been told that they look into verbal score as a predictor of success with the USMLE.

Ya, I've heard that the verbal portion of MCAT is a good indicator of success on the USMLE as well. I definitely agree that they must take all of these things into account; I was just mentioning my situation to let anyone with a lower-end verbal score know that that is not the only determining factor.

My friend who interviewed last week just let me know that they told her they haven't given out any acceptances as of yet, and that she would know mid-March about her status. Good luck to us all! :luck:

Hey,

So, I sent an update letter and I wanted to share the response I got from UC Davis:

Jbirdy: Thank you for the update. Unfortunately, the Admissions program does not have a mechanism to update/amend applicant information. Our hope is that all remaining decisions will be made by the end of this month. You will be notified by e-mail should there be a change in the status of your application. Thank you for your continued interest in our medical school.

Hope this helps somebody 🙂

Best of luck to those still waiting for an interview

it'd be nice if they just gave us a definitive time frame. i guess their new computerized system screwed things up more than it helped. hopefully it'll be less painful for applicants in the upcoming years.

by the way, how are they planning to let us all know? email? status check? snail mail?

I'm guessing "all remaining decisions" refers to interview invitations? Because I have an interview in late March, and I'd be rather miffed if all post-interview decisions were going out a month in advance of it :eyebrow:.

Man when I sent a letter, I only got the first sentence "Unfortunately, the Admissions program does not have a mechanism to update/amend applicant information." Not even the thank you!

Well at least those of us pre-interview can guess that we'll be rejected if we don't receive an invite in the next 2 weeks...

Actively interviewing - yes.
Granted plenty of acceptances - no.

I am a current Davis student. A few weeks ago, Ed told us that first acceptances will start going out in late February. No one has been accepted yet.

They do look at more than just your scores. For instance, letters of rec are important. The quality of your essays. Your ECs. You know, the whole picture.

omg, i'm getting so anxious! complete since mid-oct and still haven't heard anything! I really want a davis interview! I have good numbers, and average ECs

me too! I really want a Davis interview! good luck Sangria and everyone else waiting for an interview/acceptance:luck:

One of my best friends goes to Davis and told me last week that no acceptances have gone out yet. And they must not be screening by verbal scores, because I got an 11 and was complete in October and haven't heard a thing. Come on UC system! Don't fail me now!

Well, screening doesn't mean that they give decisions early only to people above a certain score, but yeah...I'm with you with hopes for the UCs! :luck:

I'm with you guys, but I'm really starting to lose hope in all the UCs...its getting really late. My state doesn't love me. 🙁 Oh well it will be nice to experience a different part of the country.

If you go to mdapplicants, no one's really been accepted to davis yet cause there's no profiles for 2009. So relax, I think they're just really really slow this year.

I feel you! I was holding out hope for UCSD based on my communications with them, but now that seems like a no go. I'm banking on Davis. I wish the screened with verbal scores. Maybe that 12 would've been worth something then....

"Dear Applicant,

On behalf of the Admissions Cmte. I would like to send an apology for the delay in getting admission decisions out to you all. There continue to be a few challenges with the new on-line admission process. Additional time is being spent testing this phase of the process. Thank you for your continued patience. Our hope is that decision notices will be sent out beginning the end of this month.

Sincerely,

Edward D. Dagang"

The latest news from Davis..... I guess I will have to book flights for my other scheduled interviews....

I just received this e-mail from UCDavis and thought I'd pass along the info:

I had a small myocardial infarction while I read the first sentence, thinking I had been rejected. Whew.

Another version for those interviewed in January...

"On behalf of the Admissions Committee I would like to notify you that admission decisions have been delayed. There continue to be a number of challenges with the new on-line admission process. My hope is that admission decisions for applicants interviewed in January will be made by the end of March rather than in February as was announced at the application orientation. Thank you for your continued patience."

Yarrrrrr....

Brainlover, i almost had a heart attack too. I interviewed in January so I got the same email as Julia, but just the title of the email, "UC Davis School of Medicine Admission Decisions," made my blood pressure skyrocket haha
