Congrats! Thats a big jump from Dec 1st to Jan 26th. I wonder what type of order they are going in?

OOOOOOH man, I almost wish I didn't check SDN today... my cell phone is in my pocket and any slight vibrations now increase my heart rate like crazy. I'm pleasantly surprised that Ed is calling to give out regular MD acceptances; hopefully we'll be hearing his voice soon!! :xf:

Same here! Cell phone is on in my pocket and house phone is nearby! RING PHONE RING!!

I just called and talked to Ed and he said "Some decisions have been made, and the committee is working on more decisions right now. You will be notified by email."

Still no interview invite. I called today to ask about my status and whether lack of invite at this point means that I have been rejected. I was told that some people have been notified about rejections, so at this point it doesn't. Forgot to ask when the last invite will go out though, but I guess someone said in 2 weeks?

Thank you so much for spreading this news. I've been debating whether I should call Ed or not, and any extra piece of information helps a bit of anxiety subside; at least with the greater possibility of e-mail news I won't jump every time I get a text message. This wait is brutal, but hopefully it will end in celebration. :scared:

And Sangria, as far as I know they'll be interviewing through March, so you still have a chance. Sometimes no news can be good news, right? Something about you is making them hold onto your app. Good luck!!

I think it's just odd that apparently post-sec rejections have been given out, but I don't recall seeing any in this thread

Wonder If Ed is going to be calling the entire week 🙄

Dec. 1st to Jan. 26th (a minimum time frame) interviewees....the fun starts:xf::xf:

:barf:

Instead of a phone call, I got an email from Ed today asking me to list the courses that I'll use to fulfill the English requirement since I'm still taking classes. This can't be good huh?

Can't be bad. They wouldn't want to know about your pre-requisite courses if they were rejecting you!

Please post if you get an admissions decision today.

I hope Ed is making more phone calls. I wonder if rejections will come later. Do you think no phone call means a rejection is on its way?

He probably didn't get through the phone list of accepted students in one day...but I have no idea how long something like that would take. Does anyone know anything about that?

Maybe also if someone is on the phone with him they could ask if there will be any more interview invites

When I talked to him on the phone yesterday he made it sound like we should expect emails, not phone calls. Perhaps he only had a few acceptances on his desk and he thought that phone calls would be just as easy. I think that there have been relatively few actual admissions decisions to date. Hopefully there will be a batch email coming out today or tomorrow with multiple decisions after the committee has had time to make some more decisions.

It doesn't make any sense for Ed to call some people who've been accepted and then e-mail the rest. They also said at the interview that all correspondence for acceptances, waitlists, rejections, would be made through e-mail and they didn't stick to that. My guess is, they will call acceptances and e-mail waitlist people, and keep rejection people in the dark for another two months. But, I hope I'm wrong.

I agree that it doesn't seem consistent, but I am just trying to be optimistic. It does seem that there are many qualified applicants that have been regularly posting on this thread that haven't heard anything yet, even those that interviewed in early December. That is why I believe that the first few acceptances that have come out were exceptions to the rule. I may be wrong, but hopefully not.

a friend of mine interviewed at Davis today and she was told that 32 applicants have been accepted thus far. she updated me, so i figured i'd update you all.

I agree with your theory. And while I may also be biased because I want there to be more hope for applicants like us, I don't think consistency is commonplace for the UCDSOM application process; I could see Ed choosing to call some applicants for reasons unbeknownst to us while opting for e-mails to others.

So 32 spots possibly taken (possibly because not all accepted will choose Davis assumedly) but many more available, hopefully with our names on it! I want to go to UCD so much; I hope I find out either way soon so that I can celebrate/mourn/wait some more..... 😕

Apparently the last of the interview invites will go out this week and the last interview day is March 20th

when i spoke with Ed, he told me that since they were having so many computer glitches this year with their new system, he was calling everyone that had an acceptance decision made already. He told me that the online portal would not reflect my new status and that it may take awhile before that happened so he wanted to notify everyone who got in already by phone. He also said to expect a package in the mail within the next week or so with acceptance things. i dont know why they dont appear to be going in chronological order...

Same Here. Got a phone call from Ed Monday Morning telling me I was accepted. He said we would receive online notification in the next couple weeks. I can only assume that the website still has a few kinks in it and many people will be notified once they fix them.

Any new folks hear about PRIME?

I called Ed today and he told me that "no decision has been made....I will let you know either good or bad as soon as I find out...just blame this on the electronic system" 😳. So the committee has not met for everyone yet? This makes no sense how no decision has been made for me but has been made for people who interviewed weeks later. confusing😕.

I interviewed Jan. 7th in case anyone is wondering

I wonder if Ed has called everyone who has been accepted so far. If so, what order is he going in? It doesn't appear to be chronological -- perhaps alphabetical? For those of you who already got accepted (first of all congrats!), what does your last name start with?

It would be really weird if my committee still hasn't met yet since I interviewed Dec 1.

My guess is that an acceptance will likely be a phone call, rejections will be e-mail, and wait-list could be either but more likely e-mail. I also heard that 50% of interviewees get accepted off the bat. Most of the others get wait-listed, and few get rejected.

The adcom might be going through the applications and accepting only the strongest candidates, putting the majority of the other applications on hold for later consideration. Hence the seemingly random response times.

That can't be right; UC Davis accepts approximately half of all interviewees total, including acceptances from waitlists (according to Ed on interview day). If they accepted 50% off the bat, then the numbers given to interviewees on interview day wouldn't make sense unless no one is accepted from the waitlist.

400-500 interviewed, 200-250 accepted (including waitlists).

I vaguely remember hearing that about 150 or so are accepted off the bat, but my memory may be wrong. That would mean that about 50 or so come in from the waitlist?

I was the one who interviewed Jan 26th..my last name starts with a C, and I just checked my phone to see that Ed called me at 8:49 am on Monday morning.

Ed didn't give us numbers on my interview day. I got my information second-hand, so I don't know if it's accurate. I'm just trying to gather any information possible to help me relax. I'm sure what you said is right since you heard it from Ed.

I'll probably just call tomorrow and ask if there are any updates regarding an admissions decision. At least that way I might find out something that could lower my BP.

Please keep me posted of any other useful information.

CreativeScience, you are Hilarious! I feel for you... I do. I keep running the whole "patience is a virtue" thing in my head... and thinking how I was asked in my UCD interview "How do you deal with uncertainty?" -- Sort of ironic they asked me that.

Hang in there!! I am anxiously waiting too.

So, I don't know if this helps, but I noticed on the ucd som website that there is a link for Interviewers to submit their reports. My guess is that the admissions committee reviews applications based on when those reports come in. So, even if you interviewed early, it doesn't necessarily mean that they will be the first to be reviewed. Now, I'm sure there must be a deadline by which those reports must be submitted, but that could be the reason for the varied response time.

Hey everyone, I just got invited for an interview today...I guess im part of the last batch of invites that were sent out. I was wondering if you guys knew if they interviewed at the campus in Davis or the one in Sacramento?

Hi guys,
I was wondering what phone number you are calling Ed at. I've tried calling to ask about my application status - still haven't been offered an interview - and I always get a girl on the line who is mildly hostile and says she doesn't know any more than I do. Thanks!

So I guess if we didn't get an invite today then we're pretty much out of luck huh?

They interview at the Sacramento campus. The school of medicine actually doesn't use their old campus anymore.

That being said, I stayed with one of my friends from Davis, and borrowed his car to get to Sacramento in the morning. The drive isn't far, and they also offered a shuttle service that runs approximately every hour. So if you wanted to visit the main Davis campus sometime during your trip, it really wouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I also just talked to Ed a few minutes ago, and spoke with Rebecca Miller from the Rural-PRIME office yesterday. She told me that the PRIME decisions should be made sometime within the next two weeks. They will then send over their recommendations to the main M.D. admissions committee, and they'll make the final decisions soon afterward.

So I guess a bunch of people should here about their decisions very soon. Since hearing about the start of acceptances, I have been unable to do reading for any of my classes. I just reload the SDN screen, and hope that an email will come or my phone will ring. This is miserable!

The day is still young 🙂

I didn't get anything and you would think that all invited on the same day would be sent at the same time. So hopefully i'll get an invite sometime this week though. Show me some love, Davis!

i don't know if this matters at this point, but when were you complete?

I was wondering if it showed on your status page or if they sent you an email. I am guessing by the end of this week, if we dont get interview invites then we are pretty much out of luck.

what day is your interview?

Finally -- some useful information! I spoke with the woman in the admissions office whose name is Terri. Here's what I learned:

1. Their committee meetings are very far behind and they have not gotten to everyone yet.
2. They are not going in chronological order or alphabetical. The order is randomly selected by a computer.
3. They are trying to make phone calls to those who are accepted.
4. A rejection or wait-list will be by e-mail. If they aren't sure about you they will notify you and you'll be wait-listed. In other words, they'll let you know either way.
5. Committee meetings are held every week, but the day of the week changes each time.
6. No news is good news.

She didn't seem thrilled to talk to me, but I was able to get all of my questions answered. She would not open my file for me and let me know if I've been reviewed yet, but if I had then I would have gotten an e-mail or phone call by now.

If the committee meets once per week, there probably won't be any other acceptances until some time next week. So we can calm down a little -- and by we, I mean I.

Hope this helps everyone else out there sleep a little better tonight. Patience is not one of my virtues!

My interview is scheduled for the 20th of this march...they gave me the option of three other dates which were all earlier

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. I wish we could find out sooner, but knowing SOMETHING is very nice. Thank you so much for letting us all know!🙂

Thanks for the info!

I hate to put a damper on things, but the fact that they've started accepting people but haven't notified anyone of rejections or waitlists yet kind of makes me take her words with some caution. Not that the person you talked to on the phone was wrong, but she never mentioned when people would be notified of rejections or waitlists. So, as far as we know, there are likely many people who've been rejected or waitlisted but haven't been notified yet. I'm still on pins and needles 😳

I swear I'm not a pessimist, but that's how I think 🙁

Thanks for the info! Also congrats to those who got the wonderful call so far...everyone else, hang in there! Hopefully we'll have more good news to post soon.....come onnnnnnn Davissssss!

Actually she did say that you would be notified immediately of whatever decision was made. Just that rejections and wait-lists will get e-mails, not phone calls. I hope this is true!

Also, I was thinking that the decisions have probably already gone out for this week. I doubt anyone else will hear news until next week's batch. Good luck everyone and hang tight.

That would mean that the adcom has accepted every single person that they've reviewed so far (since no one has been waitlisted/rejected yet), and that they've reviewed fewer than 50 people up to this point.

Well... No one on SDN has posted about their WL/Rejection, but that is a far cry from no one at all has received these two decisions yet. I am as skeptical as you are about the way that UCD is making decisions and informing us, but I think we should just wait a little bit longer and things will eventually make more sense. Good luck everyone!

Agreed. I would be less excited to post a WL/rejection a UCD thread than an acceptance, which might go for others as well. Or perhaps those on SDN happen to be accepted more often... perhaps wishful thinking, but my optimism likes to make excuses for how we'll be accepted! 😳

An acceptance from Davis would be nice...
