according to a current med student (and student interviewer) at davis, the next adcom meeting is next tuesday. just fyi

Not to cause us more stress... but I was thinking:

They notified people on MONDAY MORNING... that means the AdCOM probably met the previous week. And the committee is said to meet ONE day every week.... and they are planning to meet on Tuesday of NEXT week....

Which means that they might have not announced the acceptance made THIS week since the called people early on Monday...

Unless they are done for the week... they could be calling more people either tomorrow or Monday again...

Just piecing it all together

So its friday...does this mean that they are done sending out invites then? People hear said that Ed said they were going to send out their last invites by today. But my friend who is a current second year says thats bs and that because they are so behind they still have quite a few invites left...I don't know who to believe.🙁

That's what they told me in an e-mail last week, but I really hope it's not true, since I haven't received one

i have a quick question for those who received interview invites, did any of you apply before you hit the 90 semester units or 135 quarter units?

I'm wondering whether to apply before I hit 135 units (I'll have 127) is a good idea.

Thanks!

So Davis is reviewing interviewed applicant files in random order? That means that someone that interviewed in the beginning of December could potentially be randomized to the very end of the review period when there are no more acceptance slots left? That seems a little fishy to me.

Ok, so I spoke to my friend today who went in to talk to the adcom this afternoon and this is what he said:

-A bunch of post-sec rejections have just been sent out by mail today.

-Like someone else said March 22nd or something is the last interview date.

-This next Tuesday is the last day that invites will be sent out for that last interview group. If you don't hear by then its game over.

It doesn't make sense to me considering how so few people seem to have been accepted and interviewed so far. Also they started the application process so late...The other UCs started way earlier and end their interviewing in late march or april. To those of us still waiting good luck on tuesday. To those waiting to hear back post interview good luck and feel grateful for having a chance!

I agree...Since Davis seems to be notorious for late notices, I also wish they were just upfront about it or at least give people a more realistic time-frame. Less collective wringing-of-hands-and-waiting, then. I still think it's worth it. 😉

It is kind of weird that the interview season is so short compared to most other schools, but considering that they've been interviewing almost every weekday since December (unlike places like UC Irvine, which I think only has a couple interview days per month), and making a low estimate of about 10 interviewees per day, they'd easily make the 400-500 interviews they plan out.

Thanks for going out of your way to share/post this info.

I called Rebbecca Miller today and I think all PRIME decisions have been made. She was able to pull up my file and tell me about my status as far as PRIME applicant decision but said it could not be finalized till ADCOM met about me and offered me a position in the MD as well.

She said the ADCOM meetings are behind but hope to let all those Dec/Jan interview people know by March 15 (which is a sunday fyi). So hopefully we will know by next week.

So if you want to know you status as far as PRIME you can call Rebecca she was really nice and willing to look up as much information as possible about my status.

Hey 8mile,

I can't answer your question bc I graduated with almost 200 semester units, but anyways you should start a thread on it about this in the pre-allo forum bc I dont think neone will answer your question as everyone is too busy tryin to figure out davis' admission process as of right now. Did you not take any AP classes in high school or does that not factor in (it should count if it's transferable). If you're a full time student then you should have 135 by the end of ur 3rd year? You can email the admissions office and ask? Best of luck with everything.

thanks and I wish everyone much luck with davis!

Good luck all. Some of us should be hearing something today.

I think the adcom meets tomorrow so the decisions should come out then.

From what I remember was said during the interview day, the adcom makes their decision, then sends their recommendation to Dean Henderson. If he approves it, then he sends your file to Ed, who checks to make sure all the requirements are fulfilled, etc. So decisions might not come out immediately, but who knows how long all that really takes.

Hopefully we will get some good news today! 13 weeks is just a painful amount of time to wait. Good luck to everyone!

Agreed! But hopefully it will be well worth it and we'll get in... :xf: This month does hold St. Paddy's Day, so perhaps the extra luck will work our way... :luck:

So today's the last day for invites, eh? I guess I'm not going to Davis this Fall... unless they decide to mail out an invite in the next 1.5 hrs.

Well, no one has posted of an interview invite anytime recently, and it would be weird to designate a "last day for invites" when they weren't planning to send any out on that day, so today might have not been really the last day for invites. I'd say to keep up the hope!

I couldn't help it... I'm so antsy with the lack of knowledge on my status, so I called even though I had a feeling nothing would've changed so far. Ed (who is extremely nice and understanding) said that my file has not yet been reviewed and that he apologizes for the long wait; he was hoping that we would know sooner. He said he didn't want to give me a date of when I will know by because he's afraid that date won't hold true. He did say that the committees are meeting nearly every week and that no news is good news. So, we'll probably still have a decent wait but talking to Ed somehow made me feel a bit better. Good luck to everyone, whether you're waiting for a decision or an interview!

If no news is good news, then what is news of an acceptance? 😛

Anything new from Yesterday's Ad Com meeting? Good/Bad ? Acceptances/Waitlists? Keep the phones on Loud Ring!!

Crickets ... just like the past 3 months. Maybe tomorrow?

All quiet on the western front!

*hunkers down to avoid getting shot* :ninja:

From someone who attends Davis...basically like everyone has said the process is way behind. The new electronic system is glitchy. The adcom is split into smaller groups so it seems like there is no rhyme or reason as to how or when your app is decided on. More meetings planned...

thank you for the information! This helps explain why CreativeScience was told that the applications are evaluated at random...because randomly pulling apps. to review makes no sense unless the adcoms are being split into groups and each group is getting different files and each group is looking at them on their own leisure. They can take as long as they want as long as its good news though 😳

I talked to the admissions office yesterday and they said that they are not done sending out interview invites. They also couldn't say when they would be done doing so.

Just got an e-mail from Davis. It's about PRIME. Says they are tracking the MD decision process carefully, and that hasn't been decided for me yet, but I'm mid to high on the list of PRIME candidates!

yay! Did you apply PRIME, or did they arbitrarily put you on the list? 😉

I just got an email saying that I was not accepted into the Rural PRIME program. 🙁

But there are still hopes for the M.D. track!

What? You mean PRIME doesn't just mean that I'm a PRIME candidate? It's actually a program or something 😉?

I got the PRIME email too...mid to high list. My fingers are crossed. Good luck to everyone waiting on interviews and decisions.

That gives me a little bit of hope, although I don't know how that could be, since I was told 2 weeks ago that the last interview date is march 20th

So were there any acceptances this last week? It seems like nobody is hearing anything. At this rate they may not have a full class until August 2010. Maybe 14 weeks is the lucky number?

Does anyone know how big the class size is on avg at UCD?

If i recall... i think they are increasing it to 112 or so +/-

Can you feel the luck? Pot of Gold and Acceptances! COME ON!!!!:luck:

Its funny. I called them last week, and the woman said they planned on sending out all the (pre-interview) decisions by the end of the week.

I called again today, and they said they plan on sending out all decisions by the end of this week.

Anyone else think thats just a stock response to get us to stop calling? I just want to know if I can get an interview or not >.<

That's kinda lame, but I think they must be done sending interview invites by now - their last interview day is a week from today.

Ed is making calls today! 😀 I interviewed on the first day of the season, so it's been a long wait. I hope good news reach you guys soon! Good luck all!

I got in!!!!!!!!😀
wow. I have been waiting for this moment all my life.

hey congrats guys. Vman, I interviewed the same day as you and I'm pretty sure I remember you. You came late that day right, due to the train crash or something to that effect? By any chance, is your status updated on the applicant portal yet?
