If you dont mind, what departments were the two writing classes in. I ask because I have taken classes over the years which have been writing intensive but not from the english department.

one department was scandinavian (i took scandinavian literature). the other was kind of unique. it was technically under "ge cluster," as it was a special set of courses that lasted for a year and was only offered freshmen year. the ge cluster i took was basically on immigration and social justice. both of them were writing intensive and denoted as a W on the transcript. i asked ed about it a month ago and he pretty much gave me a flat no to allowing those to count. that is why i am taking english and classics classes for spring quarter 🙁

I would just like everyone to know that I think the Davis admissions committee is super crazy. I applied super late (November) and somehow was granted an interview in less than two weeks... My girlfriend, who is much more qualified than I, turned all of her stuff in before the end of July and didn't hear back from Davis until February. And as you can tell, based on my username, I didn't get too many other interviews...

I know many of us really enjoyed our time at Davis because it is an amazing school and I also know that I should hear back from Davis this week by the latest...

But since I was asleep and woke up thinking I may have receieved an email from some Davis representative in the last 2 hours (AKA I'm a wreck)... I have officially decided to stop worrying about it and start focusing on the day at hand! I am sure they are working diligently to sort the future class of 2013 out, so we must try to be patient.

Good luck to everyone! I'm sure you are all very deserving of getting in and will be an awesome addition to the UCD SOM.

P.S. If you get waitlisted, don't loose hope... The student hosts I stayed with (a first and second year) both assured me that half of their class came from the wait list.

I'm also a member of the 104 club.

Doesn't part of you want it to keep going since we're on such a record-breaking streak?

Totally kidding...Anyone have a paper bag I can breathe into? :scared:

Maybe we should start a pool for when the first person from our club will hear anything. I've got Tuesday, 3/31 ... anyone else?

Nice! I would call April Fool's Day, just for fun, but I'm gonna call the first Monday in April, because Ed might favor Mondays for calling. Second look day at UCDSOM is allegedly April 24th for the MDs so I'm hoping that can be our very distant end marker...

I will take this Friday, 3/27, just because I love losing bets. It has to be significant that it will be 107 days on the 27th right? :xf:

I felt strongly about it being this Friday too but went with the 31st because that is the day med schools are supposed to have extended as many offers as their class size per AAMC guidelines. I can see them wanting to fulfill that guideline and using all the available time to do so. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

For anyone that has been accepted, I was just wondering if your status page has changed at all. I know it hadn't changed earlier, but it looks like Davis updated the look of their status page, so I thought it was possible this could have changed as well. Thanks and congrats

As far as I'm seeing, the status page is still the same. They did however link the status page on the som.ucdavis.edu website to the applicant portal that we used to submit our secondaries and schedule our interviews. But that happened a while back. Before February that page used to show an error message.

The status page does seem to load all the way now. For a long time the page seemed like it wouldn't load correctly, on my computer anyway.

oh ok that's probably all it is then. i saw that the site was under maintenance for about 30 minutes yesterday, but maybe they were just fixing it so the site could load all the way

For accepted people, have you had to submit a deposit or anything yet? All I got was the acceptance phone call and an email from a student. Nothing in the mail, nothing official yet to say if you are or aren't accepting the admission offer.

Weird? 😕

nina,

same here... haven't received anything in the mail, just got the phone call and an email (from someone in admissions). it wasn't very informative, just said 'congratulations, bla bla bla, revisit day is coming up, etc.'

Revisit day? That would be good to know about! I'll have to give them a call, I didn't get any emails.

I guess optimists lose bets. Now I agree with ScottyT. The 31st sounds like a pretty good date. That would be 18 weeks for me! Nothing we can do... 😎

i guess i'll join the guessing game too haha. since it's my mom's birthday on monday, the 30th, i'm gonna hope that that's the date so i can give her good news 😛

This long wait makes me keep replaying one particularly bad moment in my interview and assume that I got rejected 🙁

I really want some closure!

Hey all! Don't give up... Ed called me this morning and... acceptance! Whee!!! 😀

Congratulations! Did you just get the call? I wonder if there are more on the way. When was your interview?

I was called early this morning. I interviewed the first week of January...

😀😀

Good :luck: luck :luck: to everyone still waiting! Definitely there seems to be a lot of randomness in terms of when people interviewed and when they are being notified, so don't lose hope!

I received the Call from Mr. Dagang today at 8:28AM, followed by an acceptance e-mail at 3:00PM.

Julia and I interviewed on the same day and were both accepted this morning... evidence for some semblance of a systematic review process? You be the judge.

To anybody still waiting for post-interview news from UCDSOM--although you may lose your patience (and at times, your sanity), please don't lose hope. UCD is an awesome school and well worth the wait.

Completely agreed-- UCD is very much worth the wait, and most definitely my top choice. It is hard going through the ups and downs of hearing others get accepted and hoping for one to no avail, especially with the unexpected length of the wait. I think the most difficult part is not having a clue when we'll know; interviewing in the beginning of December seems to almost be working against us at this point. Alas, I am trying to learn the art of patience. I hear it's a virtue. 😛

A HUGE congratulations to Julie and wuhsadneh!!! Your patience paid off. 🙂 And thank you so much for updating everyone on sdn-- very much appreciated.

I went back and checked when people received their acceptance phone calls. The day is sporadic (twice on Mondays, once on Thursday, once on a Friday) -- so we can't expect any day of the week to be more likely than another. But one thing that is kind of consistent is the time of the phone call. Calls are usually made between 8:00 and 11:00.

One thing we don't know about is when people received their waitlist or rejection e-mails. Probably because most people aren't too excited about posting that information. However, that might give us some insight as to whether those e-mails are going out around the same time as acceptances.

That's my analysis for the day! I know more people are reading this than are posting, so please, if you get some news give us the update!

The thing we don't know is if the post-interview waitlists and rejection e-mails have been sent out at all. Even if people aren't as eager to post them here, it seems unlikely that not only has no one here posted of any emails, but we haven't even heard of anyone else (friends, friend-of-a-friend, etc.) who has received one.

So I missed a call from Ed yesterday. He called around 7:30 AM and left a message saying that there had been a change in the status of my application, but I have not received an email and their office is closed today (Cesar Chavez day). I would like to think that the call is good news. Does anyone know if rejections/WL are reported over the phone? I interviewed in the middle of December.

I was told by Terri in the admissions office that acceptances were going to be made by phone -- not rejections or waitlists. I hope for your sake that this is true!

Fizzle- what you say is absolutely true. I just wasted a bunch of time browsing through people's mdapps looking for someone who has been rejected post-interview and couldn't find anyone...which proves nothing. But it is very likely that rejections and waitlist decisions have not yet been sent out. I hope I'm not in that boat!!!!

I found plenty of people who have been rejected post-secondary and also lots of people that say "interview, no news." Hmmmm.

If anyone has been rejected post-interview will you give us a shout out?

Since there are several of us that interviewed on the same day (Dec 10th) and none of us have heard news, good or bad, I think they just haven't reviewed the interviews from that day. When any of the Dec 10th-ers find out, I will then be freaking out. 😳 Keep your fingers crossed, Creative Science!! :xf::xf::xf:

I interviewed Dec 1st -- so I don't know whether or not I'm in the same boat as you. Either way, it's Friday, so it's time to take our minds off of it for the next three days. Easier said than done, I know.

No interview and I sitll haven't received my stinkin rejection. The least they could do is send it to me!! 🙁

Did anyone interview Dec. 15? I haven't heard anything yet...

Im december 10th and still haven't heard anything. I believe there is still a good number of people who interviewed earlier than us who are waiting too. I'm guessing it's not good news to have not heard? But they're also getting back to people somewhat randomly, who knows😕

I'm starting to think everyone that has been waitlisted/rejected post interview has not heard of their tragic fate. I think we should begin to just expect a wait list now and if im wrong then its awesome...and if im right, then hey, at least we were ready for it....😳

So, is UC Davis done interviewing? No interview invite here, but they haven't dropped me yet.

Did anyone interview on January 7th? 😕🙁

(its like we are going around looking for family members after a tragic disaster...)

I interviewed Jan. 21st. Anyone else from my family out there? I've been trying to be so patient...checking this page only 20 or so times a day.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think you're right. Although it does go against what Terri in admissions told me over the phone. She said that we would find out our decision immediately whether it was good or bad. However, I'll bet the lack of notification is another technology problem.

I'd rather assume waitlist/reject and then be happy if proven wrong 🙁

I think you guys are coming to the same conclusion I came to weeks ago, and everyone doubted it when I said it then. It's a huge bummer. Nothing that has been said to the early interviewers so far has been exactly the full truth, so the whole "no news is good news" theory doesn't really fly. First they say "8-10 weeks post interview," um, not even close for the early interviewers, try 16+. Then they say "we hope to have all december decisions sent by the end of February," um, no, sorry, wrong again. Its now the end of March and we still have no news. I have a feeling it is the waitlist for me, I just wish the UCDSOM admissions people had the common courtesy to say that. Is it really that hard to write a waitlist email and copy and paste/send it to all of the people that are supposed to get one?

Hey Davydude, I have been reading your posts for the past few weeks and man I feel so bad for you. The wait has been way too long regardless of any type of technical difficulties. I do think there is still hope for you. Their review process seems to have no rhyme or reason. I interviewed early February and I am not going to bother to call--it seems pointless. Hope this is your week. good luck.

I don't think it was that everyone doubted you; everyone was just trying to be optimistic for the sake of everyone else in the thread, even as everyone knew the chances decreased. Goodness knows I've typed up quite a few pessimistic reality checks over the course of the last few months and then deleted them without posting them to avoid getting everyone's moods down. But hey, we're all thinking the same thing, so you're not alone! 🙂

PS: It's funny that the wait after the "sorry we're slow" email that Davis sent out is becoming even longer than the wait before that email 😛

Thank you. Hopefully they will resolve their "technical difficulties" soon for the sake of everyone that has been waiting for 4 months +.

I know I am not alone, and that we are all in this boat together. 🙂 It's just too bad that UC Davis, which has such an excellent reputation, has left us all wondering for so long. I never would have guessed it. It is really a bummer for me as I am from Sacramento (I was actually born at UC Davis Med Center), and went to school just a couple miles down the road at CSU Sacramento. Hopefully I get some love from Toledo or Creighton this next week so a waitlist from Davis wont be such a blow. :xf:

I'll call April Fool's because I feel like a fool waiting around this long! I'm expecting the waitlist or a rejection at this point. 🙁

I interviewed in Dec. Still haven't heard anything. Lame.
