I talked to Sandy on the phone just now today, and she said no decisions have been made. She said some people would know next week, but not everyone. Also she said EVERYONE who will be accepted will definitely know by May 15th at the latest (this obviously does not include waitlisters). Im assuming the committee will tell us in a batch once they have made their decisions, so they will probably tell us all what their decisions are around the same time, but that's just my speculation...
 
Merissa , you got an email, That seems like a good sign. May be they want you to wait and not take up the other acceptance that you have. I haven't got a thing

I called a few days ago to find out about my application and their computers were down. She said she would call me back when they were up and would tell me the status of my application. I think she e-mailed me back bc it was easier than calling
 
Well, I still havent heard anything either. Interviewed in December but I am going to withdraw my file as I wont attend even if I get accepted at this point. Good Luck everybody who is still waiting.
 
The registration sheet for the Med Student Mixer had a list of all accepted people just in case everyone arrived. There appeared to be a little under 20 names on it.

There were about 15 incoming students total at the mixer. All of them mentioned DREW was their first choice so definitely they will go. So 9 spots are up in the air -- your guess is as good as mine. Many of the incoming students traveled from across the country so whoever didn't show up, I surmise, don't consider the program their top choice (or they do...wuteva).

FUN FACT:
Many of the current med students there said they kept calling the offices to check if they got accepted, probably once a day as June approached. One of them was actually nicknamed CID (Caller I.D.)! They kept persisting and finally got good news. A few of them were actually accepted 5 days before matriculation! I AM SERIOUS CALL IF YOU WANT IN!

Lesson here: persistence pays off so keep contacting the staff ad nauseum as the cycle ends if you really want to get in this program, they are used to it. It seems just about everyone had someone in the faculty they knew well and thus got clout.

After the revisit, I know for sure the program is for me. I think this program is unparalleled. The amount of funding, doting, supervising, and overall care ascertains the deans know you by name. The matches are insanely good (33% of those in 2009 matched ADORE). It's ridiculous how well the school funds Med Students for their career advancement from what the MS1's told me. Just about everyone was spearheading some special project thanks to the staff. Upperclassmen really want to help the underclassmen (matter of fact there will be an event held on Saturday to honor the C/O 2013). This program is actually known as the "UCLA+" program for these reasons.

EDIT -- UPON DOUBLE CHECKING THE NUMBER IN THE DREW PROGRAM DURING THE UCLA RECRUITMENT DAY EVENT:
I can confirm 12 students showed up. There could possibly be 12 open spots... 4/25/09

Anyone have any news? Still silent on my end. I'm thinking it will be quiet until a couple days before May 15th... maybe even until that actual day.
 
I haven't heard anything either. Hopefully we will hear something soon.
 
Everything WAS silent over here too...but this afternoon I got an email from Sandy saying no decision has been made on my file yet. The weird thing is, I didn't even ask! So I wonder if that email was meant for someone else...At any rate, essentially I have nothing new to report either 😕

Hey Kitty, I emailed Sandy a few days back asking about my application status, and received an email back saying "No decision was made...". But then since then I've received at least 3 more emails saying the exact same thing, including one today. I think there might be some problem with the way they are sending the emails. Either that or they just felt like updating everyone (assuming everyone got such an email).

Nope, I did not recieve that email today. (I did though recieve it last week the same day I left a message at the admissions office).
 
May be getting an email is some kind of positive indication. I haven't got a thing.

Not really.

I called Sandy Thursday and she e-mailed me back Friday saying "no decision..." and then I called again today and spoke to her and she said the same thing.

Next Friday should really be the big day!!!

I think we can all relate to each other in feeling extremely anxious right now. So I'm pretty sure everyone who has been writing on this thread will post any updates. I haven't heard anything on my end. Last time I spoke with Sandy, she said "no decision has been made, but all decisions should be made by May 15th or 16th" --which she has said everytime I've spoken with her for the past two months. Any news on your end, docpro?

If they send out decisions on the 16th, then many of us will lose our deposits at other schools. I think we should press the office to get the decisions out at least a day earlier...
 
I dont think that hustling them to get a decision earlier would be a good look. If I get accepted on the 16th I'm willing to lose any deposit I paid 🙂
 
Does anyone know if they have concept of waiting list. I don't know if all of us who haven't heard are on waiting list of some kind.
A least 10 of us are atill actively waiting on SDN for some news

If you don't mind me asking, what is your ethnicity? Not trying to ask in a bad way but if anyone is not URM that got in, I would just like to know your stats, that's all.

Im going to give sandy a call this morning to see if all the spots have been taken. Usually sdn represents about a quarter of who is actually accepted. Since there were only 4 spots left, and one person on sdn was accepted, I assume all the spots are filled... I will let you guys know what she says after I talk with her. Im still trying to keep my head up though. 🙂
 
Don't hold your breath today guys, or even tomorrow. I talked to Teresa at Medical Student affairs, and she said they are at UCLA today making decisions, but nothing will be released today or tomorrow. There are spots open, but she wouldnt tell me how many. She said we would be hearing back "possibly" Monday or Tuesday of next week. We've waited this long, I dont think a few more days will kill us. Good luck.

Did anyone hear from Teresa/Sandra today. I talked to Sandra this evening and she told me all the seats are taken as of right now. This is in contradiction to what Teresa told medrckr55 this morning.
If Kippocalypse or people who have got in may give us some inside information about how many seats are already taken, it will be very helpful for people who are still waiting to hear.
Does anyone know if at all there will be any waitlist movement this year?
 
I spoke to my friend who interviewed with me and she spoke to Sandy and was told that she shouldn't expect to hear anything until the end of May.

Nope didn't hear anything. Called both Sandy and Teresa's lines today and never got a chance to speak to either. Guess we have no choice but to wait some more. I will call on Monday and ask about if there are still seats and when we can expect to know something. Does anyone have backup plans incase Drew falls through??

I have not heard anything, but I have not spoken to them today either. I doubt we will hear anything today. Whatever day they say it may be, I always assume it will be at least twice as long. I got a response email from sandy a couple days ago saying that we should hear something by the end of the month. If anyone would like to call them to find out... Maybe ask them if there really are still seats available, and post it on here. I have called them so much Im sure they are sick of me... 😳

Merissa, you said that you were going to call drew today, have you called them yet?
 
Just got off the phone with Ms. Rodriguez, she said that I should expect to know something by June 1st. She also said that there is still alot of movement within the class (whatever that means??) and that they do not have a waiting list as of yet. Oh and...there are still seats available!
 
Merissa, Did she say how many seats are still left?
