Whoa. Woops. Sorry! I thought you were referring to this post. So I thought you were getting the two mixed up.
How many people do they interview each year for the college program? like 50/150? (acceptance/interviews)?

You were actually replying to this quote.
I think the Dean said 250.

It doesn't really matter. Sorry I confused things. I was trying to do quite the opposite!

I should clearly be more descriptive in my responses to prevent future misunderstandings. 😎

Glad it got worked out though. 👍

Nice! Glad I could do my part to contribute to your education.

Yes, even though we've not formally met, for the rest of my life, whenever I think of seminoma, I will think of you. Isn't that sweet?

That is SO last year. 😛

I think I need to know about this. Please, tell me more!

This very fact was the component of one of our histopath exam questions today and I thought of you! hahaha

Hahaha, I did exactly the same thing!!

Nice! Glad I could do my part to contribute to your education. Let's see, what other interesting facts have I learned that might show up on future exams....when do you do neuro block? Just so you know, there are not any radiologic or lab tests used to diagnose Parkinson's. No tests have ever been shown to be superior compared to diagnosis based on history and physical exam alone. I got that one right, but I kind of guessed because I couldn't think of what findings would show up in CSF, CT, etc. Turns out there's a good reason for that!

I will keep this in mind for later.😍

We do neuro in block 6, so that's some time during second year, though we'll get it from the MS program first.👍

Yes, even though we've not formally met, for the rest of my life, whenever I think of seminoma, I will think of you. Isn't that sweet?
:roflcopter:

Oh, I totally agree with you. A lot depends on what you want to do with your career. I'm just saying that the majority of the few people that do turn down a CCLCM acceptance prolly got a full ride to a 4 year med school.

Come to the UP! Down with CCLCM! *starts humming the theme from West Side Story and snapping fingers*

🙂 I wasn't trying to pick a fight...Can't we all just get along...

West Side Story is a stretch for the younger crowd, isn't it?

And is the UP the Jets or the Sharks?

Yes, even though we've not formally met, for the rest of my life, whenever I think of seminoma, I will think of you. Isn't that sweet?
You know, I don't think anyone has ever said anything quite that sweet to me. So, um, do you come here often? (swoon) 😍

I think I need to know about this. Please, tell me more!
It won't make sense unless you see it. :ninja:

Woohoo. Finally got my first interview and it's from my dream OOS school. I was starting to lose hope and thought all med schools hate me or something. 😍 I love you so much Case. I hope the college program gives me an invite so that I can kill two birds with one stone. I better start shopping for some winter clothes. 😀

Haha, naturally you're from CA. Believe me, I feel your pain, every single winter that I'm in Cleveland. Brrrr. :scared:

For you and everyone else still waiting to hear from CCLCM, I saw Dean Franco today and found out that the screeners are still working their way through the people who were complete in August. Obviously I have no idea if you'll get an invite here, pierrot1111, but your MDapps looks pretty promising. :luck:

how long does it take case to send out the package with the merit scholarship info those ppl accepted? I got the status update last wednesday or something but i haven't received any paperwork. Just hope it wasn't lost in the mail or somethin...

thanks and gl everyone :luck:

no my bad, i just woke up and got way too easily mad at something insignificant. sorry.🙁

Can anyone direct me to where I might find out exactly where I'm supposed to go for the College track interview?

I have the nice Visitor's Guide printout thingy that explains exactly where you go for the University interview, with pretty maps and everything.

But the only info I can find out about the College track interview is that I'm supposed to go to the Cleveland Clinic at 7:45am. Is there a webpage or document I'm missing?

Yeah, show up between 7:45 and 8:00. There's a small breakfast.

Here's a gmaps of where to go. It's at 100th and Carnegie on the Southwest Corner. Park in the deck on the east side of 100th (if you're driving).

Cool, thank you very much. It would have been pretty lame to show up to Cleveland all professional and psyched up, only to realize I don't know where the heck I'm supposed to go.

btw, where did you get this info? iapply?

Just out of curiosity, I've always wondered why people would ask a question like this on a forum rather than calling/e-mailing Admissions directly. And I don't ask that to be condescending or a jerk at all, I'm literally just curious as to the thought process. Maybe I'm just a bit paranoid, but my inclination would always be to go to the source on logistical questions like that, since there could be differences from one day to the next that another applicant/student might not know about.

So KMFDM, how come you posed that question to the Internet rather than directly to Admissions?

Once more for all of you out there in SDN-land, CCLCM never, ever, ever, EVER uses Iapply! NEVER! Don't even use CCLCM and Iapply in the same sentence ever again! :meanie:

So seriously, you would have gotten this info with your interview invite.

Because other people are paranoid that by calling admissions to ask a question like this that they know they should know the answer to, they will hurt their chances of getting in. Hey, we all live(d) in our own little hell of application paranoia. 😛

What block are you on now? Aren't you supposed to be in class? :meanie:

CCLCM doesn't do anything through iapply. The info is in the document they send that confirms your interview by email. It's called InterviewDirections09-10.doc.

I actually didn't even bother to look at that before the interview. I just got directions from my student host.

Wow Case was amazing. Automatic #1, even with Cleveland scaring the bejesus out of me.

So I interviewed at Case last week and loved it! I could totally see myself living there for the next four years, and my student interviewer was awesome. The only thing I was worried about was that everyone was so helpful asking if I had any questions that I almost ran out of questions for my interviewers in the afternoon 😛. And no eggplant...boo!

I'm wondering this too. Has anybody gotten the acceptance package from Case yet? My status has been 'accepted' for a while now, with no physical packages arriving.

Me too. I was accepted 10/21 but haven't received anything in the mail.

What makes you so sure? What day were you here?

...

I was Q&A that day.

Hint: I was the one who was not male.

Haha, yeah I completely remember you then. We had a good talk about doc opera in the admissions office. How's that coming by the way?

any suggestions on what to do if you were put on hold?

i feel like they accepted or put people on hold, but didnt really reject anyone

Hey guys, I just checked my status page and it doesn't say anything other than i was complete since Aug 31. If I didn't get an interview yet shouldn't the status be on hold or rejected?? Should I call in and ask? Thanks.

I think the only I was admitted was because I agreed to playing drums in the doc opera if accepted.

Same deal here. Didn't somebody say -- they are looking at august completes right now.

Studying for exams tomorrow (block two: endocrine and repro with a dab of cancer) - just taking the occasional brief study break to help keep me from burning out. 🙂 Block three (GI, biochem) starts Monday.

Glad you liked it, was good to meet you, albeit ever-so-briefly! And you saw it on a DOWN day!

I wasn't sure if I was missing something. Like if something had been mailed and I was an idiot and forgot about it, I wouldn't want to call admissions and inform them I'm an idiot.

Gotcha, and thanks for answering honestly! Makes sense. I always like to see how people can see the same situation from very different perspectives. I would personally think there's nothing wrong with calling the office just to "confirm" the details of the day you will be visiting. Actually, I think it demonstrates a fair bit of professionalism in that it shows one is being cautious/extra-prepared.

But I also remember being scared to call Admissions for any reason too when I applied. It's funny, when you get to the other side it definitely changes your whole perspective on the matter. Admissions people won't think "wow, what an arsehole! He just called to ask for directions! Let's reject him!" As long as you're polite about it, no harm, no foul.

I said that for CCLCM. I have no idea where the UP is at in terms of reviewing people. If you're sure you were complete in August though, you could probably call them and ask. It's been a couple of months already.

Haha, a dab of cancer. I like that. Heya, heya, get your hormones and your gametes, and if you act quick, we'll throw in a little dab of cancer too!

Let's see, here's that oldie but goodie trick question for endocrine that always shows up on tests: what's the most common cause of Cushing's syndrome? It's not Cushing's disease. It's exogenous administration of steroids. Ditto for the repro part: what's the most common reason for secondary amenorrhea? Pregnancy. Even for Step 2, the answer to every question about what to do first with a nonmenstruating woman between the ages of 10 and 50 is to measure her hCG. Lordy.

Sounds like you listened to Goljan. ;-)

UP has been pretty quick about doing initial reviews - usually within a few days of being complete, albeit occasionally longer. I would bet at this point the OP's application has been reviewed at least a few times, so arguably, no news is good news. Can't hurt to call as long as one is polite.

One of my favorite things about Cushing is that in this modern world of politically correct EVERYTHING... We can still say "moon face" and "buffalo hump" :roflcopter: buffalo hump

Sounds like you listened to Goljan. ;-)

THAT'S where I heard that. hahahah I knew somebody had said that.

If I do remember him saying that, it's subconscious.

Well, you still might not want to say it to the patient's face.

Wait, you're listening to Goljan already? That's absolutely ridiculous.

+1 and QFT

Not regularly or religiously, by any means! Heard about it, figured I'd check it out, and I might as well check out something relative to things I've studied already.

I'm not THAT crazy. Just curious enough for my own danger.

Well, at least you guys do some path your first year. We had our Step 1 study panel last night, where third and fourth years give studying advice for the second years. Like half of the first year class showed up too, and they don't even start path until twelve months from now. 🙄 On the other hand, maybe I'll be eating my words when their class averages like 290 on Step 1 and my class only averaged a measly 232. 😛

(For all the pre-meds trying to figure out what we're talking about, a passing score on Step 1 is 185, the national average for American med students is around 220, and 290 is a score so astronomical that no one lies about having gotten it, not even on SDN. :meanie:)

I definitely enjoy the path questions a lot. Been using WebPath for endocrine/repro stuff, and it not only helps to solidify all the details, it's a ton of fun, too... Sorta makes the whole learning process into a puzzle.

I can't stop laughing now because I keep thinking about trying to walk into a room and saying with a straight face, "Well Mr. Moonface, it looks like you have a fairly severe case of buffalo hump."

That's Mr. Sweaty Moonface to you!

Boy! I can't wait till I'm in med school and can talk so technical that to the layman in the room is sounds just like gibberish! Oh wait...I'm already an engineer...Even if I did talk gibberish, no one would catch on...

🙂 Just teasing you guys...

I agree. Although it's still kind of discouraging to see that I have over 1800 questions left in my puzzle. 🙁

If you do, please make sure you come back and let me know. Maybe when you do your ramp thing.

Did no one ever tell you that all of medical school is just one giant inside joke?

How is your kid? The one who was sick?

Here is something that's related to application things: tomorrow is CCLCM adcomm meeting day. Everyone who interviewed within the past two weeks, including and up to tomorrow, will be ranked. Good luck, guys!

Great. Now they'll sleep well. 😀

Kid: perfectly fine. Long story. He was faking it. School policy is to not take an actual objective temperature. They neglected to tell me that before I drove an hour back home to pick him up. "Well, he feels just a little warm" 🙄

Right after I posted that, I measured his temp. 4 times over two hours, in fact. Perfectly normal. We had a blast playing hooky. Thanks for asking!

So when people find out you are going to med school, is it a rule that they must start telling you their long and really, really rather personal health histories?

My experience has been more along the lines of telling me people they know who are doctors or in medical school. I had a coworker say, "Medical school seems like a lot of work..." Not so much with the personal health histories though.
