Well guys I have my first interview ever at this school in two days. Never really had an important interview my entire life. I didn't really have an interview for both jobs I had, nor any colleges I applied to. I'm pretty damn nervous....anyone have any last minute advice or things you think I should bring up??

Me toooo!!!!! Apart from my committee... pretty stoked about this. Definitely relax and don't sound rehearsed. You know the material and if a question throws you off, stay calm, take a few seconds, then respond. Don't be one sided on issues. You can definitely have your own opinions but also show you recognize and acknowledge the opposing views. Be confident in yourself! They definitely saw something in you. ^_^

Just got an invite a little bit a go, very excited about this one. Can any students chime in on how "family friendly" Creighton is? Are there married couples with kids or is it a younger environment? Just wanted to find out before anyone else was invited along 😉

congrats on the interview 🙂

so is the word limit really 250 words? how long did you guys make your essay mine doesn't fit as of right now!! 🙁

Congrats, just got mine, too! When are you interviewing? I'm end of Sept.

I am interviewing in October also, I am pretty stoked.

Invite! Awesome! I will be scheduling for sometime in Oct.

congrats on the interview 🙂

Yeah I am trying to save my essays and it won't let me. I get an error message saying there are too many words (like 700 words) when I only have 250. It is frustrating, I can't save any of my essays. I think I will write them an email asking about it.

Has anyone recently been able to submit their essays?

congrats on the interviews.. when were you guys complete?

wow 700 words 😱 i thought making them 250 words will fix it since i went by character limits the first time! please let me know when you hear from them!! thanks 🙂

just had my interview here today....if you get an interview they really really want you

I had the same problem with my application. To answer your question, it IS in fact by a character limit of 2,000 characters, not a limit of 250 words. That being said, I doubt that your essays are that much over the limit. Here is what you should do:

1. Save your essays in a simple word editing program (I think Notepad or something will work OK)...in txt format.
2. Then try copy-pasting your essays in again.

The reason that it says you're a ridiculous number of characters over the limit is because when you paste from a more complex form (for example, .docx, which is what I first tried pasting from), it copies over hidden formatting text, which the form also includes in your character count.

Hopefully this will work for you guys 🙂

that is exciting! congrats on being done with it! can you clarify a little bit? did they act like they really wanted you (which could be because you specifically are an exceptional applicant idk) or did they address the whole group in a way that suggested that?

Did they talk about how soon they notify ppl?

Thanks! i totally thought this would fix it but just tried it and its still counting it x10 😡

i just typed in a 4 word sentence manually and saved it, guess what it gave me 552 characters and 55 word count 😱😕😱

Their word counter is making it very easy for me, I just figured out my entire essay reaching the 250 max, here it goes:

Creighton University School of Medicine is awesome. I am also a very awesome person. Thus, I am a great match for Creighton University School of Medicine. Subsequently, you should accept me!

i might be over limit by a couple words, in that case i'll abbreviate SOM 😉

SO I thought I'd give you guys a timeline of my application to Creighton. They are unbelievable fast.

- I resumbitted my AMCAS to Creighton after a friend recommended the school on 08/25

- Secondary Received on 08/26 , returned it same day

- Got e-mail saying I was complete on 08/27

- Got Interview invite on 08/28.

- All I have to say, if every school was like this, medical school apps would be a pleasure to do instead of this crap waiting game they make us play.

Wow

I guess that means if we have been complete for almost a month now at this school, we probably won't be getting an interview

No, last year I was completed in August and didnt hear back until January. They look for specific things in an applicant. I guess if you don't have all of those, they won't invite you right away.

Does Creighton have a student hosts for interviews this year? I know they did last year, are we suppose to contact admission concerning that or did they send an e-mail?

you wont be notified until oct thats when the 1st acceptances and such start going out. Also im curious as to what that poster meant want to clarify 🙂..

I have my interview this sat!!! for those who already went would you mind just posting how the day went, thoughts, etc etc? If you dont want to post it pm is fine too🙂

yes they have hosts, and if u get an interview, they should have sent u the student host thing.

i'm curious about this dinner they have planned from 5-7 pm on Friday nights before interviews. for those of you that have already interviewed, did you go to it? was it useful?

They talked to the whole group like they really wanted us. I mean almost 50 percent of those interviewed are accepted, and a higher chance if you have an interview this early in the game. One student interviewer told a buddy i made there(which shows you how laid back it was) that they just invited us to make sure we weren't some weirdos haha

Plenty of "good" places have significantly over 50% acceptance rate after interview.

Any of you guys going to/have been to the Open House? Any thoughts on how it is?

What all did the day include? What was the interview format? If you don't mind sharing I am just having a little interview envy...kind of like every day for the last month.

So I submitted my primaries about a week ago and still have not received secondaries via email. Anyone here have the same problem?

I was also curious about this? If anyone has gone is it more formal (like a tie and slacks) or relaxed (like nice jeans and a tshirt)?

I'll be there next week and I don't want to pack to much.

I didnt go but the dinner is jeans and a tshirt...its run by the students so they just come relaxed and say take off your suits for it. Many of my group didnt go as we all had flights to catch but still if i had the chance id go.

as for whoever asked what the day was like it was chill...

8-10 or so you hear from the dean and meet your fellow interviewees. Eat breakfast, get a presentation on financial aid and other things. from like 10-12ish you will have two 30 min interviews one facutly and one student. Each is 1 on 1. Then its time for lunch which was catered and decent...then a tour of the med school, the hospital, a few other places, and a final sorta wrap up presentation followed by some more refreshments and cookies 🙂. Overall a very relaxed day, the interviews were awesome and low stress and i fell in love with the school. Its pretty awesome 🙂

For some schools you have to wait for your primary to be verified before they send secondaries. This might take up to a month at this time of the cycle...be patient.

looking at the secondary: whoa- "more sensitive or appreciative of other cultures or the human condition."

jeez. what is meant by this?

Does anyone have numbers on the actual number of people interviewed relative to those getting acceptances, or at least percentages?

its 50%. I dont have the exact numbers but on the interview day they show them to you...it was 50% that much i do remember

How long did it take everyone to get a secondary from Creighton? I'm still waiting on mine...

hey does anyone know how creighton views multiple MCAT scores (IE only the most recent counts, highest in each section counts, highest overall...)

hi everyone,

i recently received an e-mail saying my application is complete, however on the website my status still says that my lor's are not received. i know they have the delay, but is this normal? am i actually complete or is it possible i received this message in error?

Happened to me, you're complete

My primary was verified on a Friday and I received their secondary the following Tuesday. If it's been a long time, giving them a call wouldn't hurt.

for those of you that have already interviewed and are waiting on a response on the 15th, Dr. Nipper stated that we could call ahead of time and ask about our application to get a hint of the decision. I already talked to mega, but I had a question on what to exactly say without coming off as rude or too eager. This thursday will be the third thursday after the interview, so I was going to call friday. Should I simply say, " I know you cannot inform me officially of decision until October 15, but is there anything else I need to update my application with?" I am one of those really nervous students he described and just knowing this early would relieve a butt load of stress.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how I should approach the question and what sort of answer I might expect to recieve if they have accepted me, waitlisted, or X'd me? Thanks guyssssss

this is not really going to answer your question, but i just want to let you and everyone else who interviews know that Creighton VERY RARELY rejects you straight-out after an interview.....unless you do something incredibly ridiculous, if you are not accepted you will be put on the alternate list which is not ranked and has ZERO movement until after the May 15th commitment date.....so when you call you don't have to worry about getting the X at least

You're much more patient than me... I called the Thursday following my interview LoL I simply asked if there was anything that I could do to improve my application and chances of gaining admissions to their school. Dr. Nipper told me that my app was great and that I need to just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm cautiously optimistic about Oct 15.

Really?? i feel like that probably means your in but I won't jinx it. I had my interview in August, so you think I should call tomorrow or wait till Friday? Also, did you just call the office and they directed you to Nipper or were we supposed to call him about this anyway?

Yeah, I had my interview on the first interview date in August. I called Dr. Nipper, the number on his card that came with the folder that they gave us. It was his office and his secretary picked up and directed the call to him. You should call Thursday. He said that he only accepts calls regarding this on Thursdays between 1:30 and 4:30.

I would love to think I'm in but I too don't want to jinx it. But I felt really good about this school and my interviews. It would be awesome to have a 10/15 acceptance here. It would dictate which of my other interviews I'd go to.

I initerview on Sept. 26th. Am I considered to be an early interview?
