For those of you that did not hear good news recently, I'm sorry that it didn't go so well this round. I wish you the best of luck with other schools, but if it doesn't work out this year, make sure to find out if there's anything you could improve in your application. If you're still interested in Creighton, it's not unreasonable to e-mail admissions to get some feedback. For some, it might be something that can be easily improved that will make the difference, but that may not always be the case. Either way, if this is really what you want to do and you are going into medicine for the right reasons, then keep your head up. There is more than a handful of current students in my class that were re-applicants and they came out of it stronger and more determined to succeed -- which they have done. We won't know for sure until March, but those that were re-applicants all did well enough to be strongly competitive for their specialty of choice. Good luck!

For those of you that received interview invites today, congrats! Do not book a hotel unless you really hate the idea of staying with a current student. The hosting program is well worth the measly $40 (or so) a night, so take advantage of it!

Finally, for those keeping track at home. This week the Nov 21 applicants are being discussed. That means that anyone that interviewed in Dec will have to wait until after the holidays to hear back, so be patient and enjoy any time off that you get!

I've been complete since August and haven't heard anything, not even a rejection email. Yet I didn't get an invite today either. Are they done sending invites? Am I in Limbo?

I know people spoke about this before, but for those who attended the Friday night dinner, did you find it helpful? Do you recommend it? Unfortunately, I am in the boat that if I want to attend the dinner, I need to stay an extra night and fly out Saturday morning (extra $40-$60 for the stay/ food). For another school I was fortunate enough to interview at, there was time for interviewees to hang out with the medical school students at the end of the day, but I was unable to do so because my train was leaving; and I highly regret it. I kind of already made up my mind in that I will attend the dinner and stay the extra night, but any further suggestions or input is really appreciated!!

I interviewed here on Nov 21st...do you know when I should expect to hear of a decision? Also, do you only get a phone call if you are accepted, or do you receive a call no matter what the decision? Thanks!

Definitely not done sending invites. Looks like this wave only covered January, so there are still spots in Feb and March. Don't give up hope yet!

There will be a few meetings this week to discuss the 21st group and depending on the schedule of the deans, acceptance calls usually go out Friday (if they're in Omaha and not busy) but have been delayed as much as a week in the past. Either way, before Christmas! Also, if you get a phone call, it'd definitely good news. Good luck!
 
If the 21st interviews are being done this week have the 20th interviews been discussed already or is that also happening this week?

Interview invite came in yesterday. I was complete by September 2, so it has been a long wait. How do you go about arranging for a student host? Also, is interviewing so late going to put those in this position at a disadvantage?

last year i interviewed on feb.13th and there were definitely people from my group that were accepted...dr. nipper specifically said that we were not interviewing for waitlist spots and they design their interviews so that up until the end they still straight-accept people....so there are definitely still spots to be had....also i received the hosting e-mail today, but if you have not yet gotten it here is the link:

Don't quote me, but I think calls for the 11-20 group went out last Friday/early this week. Today was the second meeting regarding the 11-21 group, so calls for that group will probably go out sometime in the next two days or early next week.

Hey OH SYNAPSE- I interviewed on 12/12. Any idea of when I am likely to hear? Some student told me by New Years but I don't know...

Unfortunately, whoever told you that did not know the schedule. Assuming the schedule holds, it looks like the 12/12 group won't be discussed until 1/26, meaning that acceptance decisions will not be relayed until 1/28 at the absolute earliest.

Correct, calls only go out for those accepted. Not sure if anyone is around tomorrow, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to call and check your status as we're not doing interviews this week. Good luck and as I've mentioned previously, try hard to not assume a waitlist is a rejection. My guess is that we won't be accepting as many people initially due to our unfamiliarity with how the Phoenix track is going to affect the matriculation rate. If it has no effect, then we'll have more people pulled off the waitlist this year compared to last. Best of luck and for everyone, feel free to PM me if you have any questions that you don't want the entire board to see.

Just accepted yesterday (yay!)

Do any current Creighton med students happen to have the syllabus from their first year curriculum? There's a general overview of classes on the school's website but I'm looking for something a bit more specific so I can start studying ahead of time.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa....WHOA! Haha. First, congrats! Second, settle down now. I'll see if I can locate the syllabus, but only if you promise not to start studying anything until you arrive on campus.

I remember the anxiety producing effects of not feeling like you were prepared to even start med school, but unless you hate enjoying your life/family/friends, no studying should occur until you step foot in the Cris building on day 1 of class. Studying will consume most of your time as a med student, so why not do something you've always wanted to do (other than study) before hand? Read a million books or learn how to play the french horn or develop your arm so that you can throw a 98mph curveball or take up Mandarin or figure out cold fusion, whatever it is you think you'd enjoy, just do something other than pre-study for med school. 🙂

so I called for an update and they said no decision has been made. I interviewed on 11/20...

Okay, I promise! I'm just crazy excited about Creighton! I loved it during my visit, especially how friendly and supportive everyone was there.

No worries, I'm not about to pull all-nighters - I have med school for that!! (yay!) I just kinda wanted a closer look at how the info is laid out, so I know what's in store...

In the meantime, I think I'll take up some completely random hobby...why not, right? 😀

Hi all,

I was complete at Creighton a couple months ago, and haven't heard from them since. I saw that a couple weeks ago there seemed to be a big wave of rejections. Do the applicants that survived that mass-rejection generally have a high chance at interviewing, or are there more mass-rejects to come? I'm just trying to figure out where I stand with this school.

I have the same question-- I was complete at the end of September and haven't heard anything either! When will the next wave of interview invites go out? I'm still keeping my fingers crossed to hear something!!! Congratulations to those that have already been accepted!

I was complete then too. I don't think they have gotten to us yet. I am sure there will be another mass rejection for people like us who applied late.

I was complete in the end of July and haven't heard anything either, so it's possible they have seen your app already.

At creighton i think everyone thinks their interview goes well. On my day like all 30 people who interviewed thought they were going to get accepted becuase the interview went so well lol. Creighton above most other schools ive been to really seem like the people who interview go out of their way to make things good and comfortable for you. Hence why it seems everyone has a good time here 🙂. I was waitlisted too sadly but oh well .

I hear back from Drexel I hope sometime in Jan. I don't know really as I interviewed in nov but I still havnt gone to committee. I'm enjoying my time off though I'm trying to not worry about all these decisions I'm waiting on

Hey guys. I'm what most people would consider very late in the matriculation process. I wasn't complete at Creighton until the very start of December. Is there any hope left for an interview?
 
I was not complete at Creighton until early/mid October b/c of an early decision app elsewhere (mistake in hindsight). Has anyone who was complete this late heard anything at all? I haven't heard a peep.

Hey everyone, I interviewed 11/21 and called for a status update today, Alternate List :lame:. I'm not sure, but they'll probably let you know if you've been accepted as well. Good luck everyone!

I wouldn't worry. There is still time left. I think they are a little slower than most schools in offering invites, but then again, I think they also have a larger applicant pool.
