you can try to fly to boston, and take the shuttle up. it's a bit pricey but works. anyone else has interview on the 17th of sept?

Me! I am flying into Lebanon the day before and am still looking for a student host. If you are going to be there on the 16th sometime we could meet up in the evening.

It would make a lot more sense to fly into Manchester. Especially if you can get a cheap southwest flight.

Have fun guys! I just had my interview today and it was fantastic. Your interviewers are really looking to have a conversation with you and not trying to put you on the spot to answer difficult ethical questions. Both of my interviewers knew my file VERY well (as in they quoted parts of my essays during my interview), but I hear that some of their interviewers like to do a closed file style, where they don't read your file until after the interview. Anyway, good luck!

I am SOOO excited about this one. I just heard back from my student host and he was really amazing and helpful. This is the kind of place I envision myself being for 4 years even if getting to it seems to be a bit of a problem hehe =)

Hoping for the best! :xf:

Question, I have green dots next to application and application fee but not green dot next to LORs. It says "We are now using the AMCAS letter service, so please go to AMCAS to verify the receipt of your letters.
All questions regarding your letters of evaluation should be directed to AMCAS." AMCAS has had my letters for weeks. Do you think it means Dartmouth has my letters or there's something wrong? Thanks.

This topic has been discussed previously in this thread, and has been the case for everyone as far as I know (not having the green dot next to the letters). If other schools also using AMCAS have your letters, then Dartmouth should have them as well.

sorry, it seemed like some of the earlier people had 3 dots so i was concerned since it's already been a while...

its been over a week and still have not received their secondary? do they screen or take long? kind of weird

Its okay, some schools don't sync to AMCAS in real-time so give it a few more days. And, No they do not screen.

Interview invite!!! nice way to start the day 🙂
I was complete way back in early July, so don't lose hope early birds!!

Congrats!! 👍 When were you complete?

Does anyone know if their interviews are open or close file?

You have two total interviews if interviewing for MD/PhD; some are open (you will have at least one open file interview) and some are closed. I had one open and one closed, but some people will have both as open file interviews. Be prepared for the "tell me about yourself" question. If you're applying MD/PhD, you have a large number of interviews and most will be open file.

Never thought I would say this, but Dartmouth is my sixth medical school invite...I dunno, should I go to this one also? Like with the five I have, I am probably going somewhere, unless I kick random stuff over and quote family guy. Is Dartmouth worth it, what do you think? Any help is really appreciated!!!

If you don't want it, I'll gladly take it.

Of course you should go. You might not go in to those other schools, or you might not like where you get in.

I just meandered through the Dartmouth Secondary website and found the "Videos" link... Have any of you seen these as well?

I just had my interview at Dartmouth yesterday and I thought I should post what I thought about the school. If you are not a rural - town kinda person then this school is not for you. It's in the middle of nowhere and downtown Hanover is 2.5 blocks long.

As for my personal experience, I loved the place! The people are super-awesome and they are willing to genuinely help you in any way they can. We had a large group on our interview day (~20 people) so its really easy to interact with other applicants and get to know them well. For most of us this was our first interview and we eased each other's anxiety, checked to make sure our suits were still looking good after the tour of the hospital, etc. Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is literally like a mall and has a very peaceful feel to it. The pre-clinical curriculum is decent and the array of clinical opportunities available are amazing. The class size is 84 students and everyone seems like they are in a close-knit group.

The interviews were really relaxed. I went in stressed but came out strangely at ease. Both my interviewers did not ask me anything (I am hoping thats a good sign). We just had casual conversations and they essentially let me direct where I wanted the conversation to go. My second interview even ran 15 minutes over because we lost track of time. They mentioned nothing in my file even though they were supposed to have read it. The first interviewer took some notes on me, the second one wrote nothing but she happened to mention something that she read in my statement in passing.

Overall, I got a great vibe from the school and the people, and would love to hear back positively from them.

PS: The financial aid talk here is one of its kind!

uhh...

. What did those three do then?

We talked about a lot of random stuff. I think they were interested in seeing how you could hold a normal conversation without being asked about your activities or experiences. Now that I think about it, I got 2 questions total "Why do you want to be a doctor" and "Why this school", but my total interview time was 1 hr 15 mins so I don't think thats a lot of questions.

Hah, the guy who gives it is just a pretty funny guy. He's a character.

Indeed.

Bryson, I guess I know who you are now. Were your interviews as relaxed as mine or did they ask you lots of questions on your application?

lol I think I knew who Bryson17 is but from georgetown not dartmouth lol
I wish darmouth would give me an interview though....

Damn, I don't know who either of you are definitively. My Dartmouth interviews were pretty good. They never even asked me "Why Dartmouth" though. 😕 They were good guys to talk to though.

Am I the only one that gets frustrated/annoyed at these kind of posts?

No but they are not worth talking about. All medical schools are capable of providing good training and thinking about rejecting an interview invite at this stage in the cycle seems premature. If the person had an acceptance in hand, then he/she could choose to not go to the interview as it costs money but otherwise turning an interview down seems silly.

I consider interviews like expensive dates. As much as your date is judging you, you too are on some level assessing your date ;-)

interview tomorrow anyone? i'll be there. good luck to everyone.

so one of my interviewers ran late, almost 10 minutes and finished my interview about 5 minutes before schedule. she asked me a total of 3 questions and I felt like I was doing really well and giving her great answers. she was smiling the whole time and we even had a laugh or two ... but she sort of rushed me out quickly. I have no idea how to gauge that. she asked me application specific questions.

my second interviewer was a really awesome man. we talked extensively and I really enjoyed my time with him. he ended it with "ill do everything i can to get you in here."

so im a bit confused but ill tell ya - the medical center is amazing and you can tell the faculty and the whole town takes care of the students. you will most definitely enjoy your med school experience it seems like. i am hoping to hear back soon.

what did the rest of you guys think about your interview experience?

Pretty positive I would say. My interviewers didn't ask me enough questions to get me in here =p

Got an invite, but the dates are in 1.5-2 weeks from now... wow! I'm actually booked all three of those dates- does anyone know if it's possible to switch? Also, is Dmouth rolling?

Just to get a sense of where they're at, when did you submit? When would you estimate you were complete?

Hmm, I've been complete here since the first week of August. No news yet. Does that mean it's probably over for me?

No its not over yet, they interview 650-800 applicants during the season and no news is good news until proven otherwise. Good Luck!

Thanks for the encouragement. 👍

Although, frankly, I think no news is bad news when it comes to this process. Sure, there are some schools who will put you on hold (not sure how many do that), and in that case no news is good news. But it seems that most schools won't reject until early next year, and if you don't hear anything before then, it's probably a bad sign.

On the good news side, I was also complete in early August (like the 1st) and just got an interview invite last week. Super exciting, and I also thought they had probably passed me by. Also, the interview offer was for early October, so it seems like they're not all booked up yet. :luck:

And their interview day consists of 15-20 applicants, so there is a lot more to go around!
