X, I didn't get one either. I'm on hold and I had sent in an update letter at the beginning of the month. I was thinking maybe that's why, but there was a previous poster that got the letter and had sent in an update around the same time...so, yeah. I'm trying not to read into it...really. 🙁

It is definitely nice to know there are some other people that didn't get the e-mail....I am trying not to read into it as well I'm just bad at it lol.....I know that some people actually received e-mails when their status' changed and I never did, so hopefully this is just another example of not everyone getting e-mails....ahh it's Friday I'm going to stop thinking about this haha
 
I too sent an update letter to GW dated around January 3rd. I did receive the email about responding to GW yesterday (which I feel is stupid because I paid 100+ dollars for them to review my application and they actually still have to ask me.....🙄). Good luck!
 
I'm going to withdraw my application and was wondering if anyone knew the correct email address to send my withdrawl to? Is it [email protected]?

Hope one of you guys gets my interview spot. 🙂

wow! Just got an interview invite after being on hold for a long time. I sent an update letter a week ago, which I think helped me out.
 
Is it too much in my email response to mention that GWU is my first choice??? it really is...
 
Perhaps I preempted their email by sending an update letter to them one week ago on Saturday, Jan 16. But regardless, I received an interview today without having received an email invitation to submit an update letter. So to those of you without an email, don't hesitate to send an update letter -- there still is hope!

For sure mention that. GWU loves that.

To all those people who did/didn't get the email, if you want an interview I would write them an interest/update letter. At this point in the cycle you really have nothing to lose. Just go for it!
 
Well I received an e-mail today and found out I was placed on the alternate list.....kind of a bummer b/c GW is definitely my top choice school. 😳 I AM excited to still be in the running though, so I'm going to stay positive! 🙂
 
Does anyone know where I can get in contact with a current GW med student? I got the e-mail asking for a letter of interest and I wanted to ask someone about specific curriculum details (class structure, exams, non-science courses).

My interest in the school is primarily its location - I moved to DC in August and love it - but if there's something else that clicks I'd like to include that in my letter, too.
 
Anyone interviewing here this Thursday?!!?!?!?!

I'm planning on staying at a hotel the night before (Wed night)? Anyone interested to split? I tried to find a student host...but no luck 🙁
 
So from reading everyone's comments, it seems that everyone who interviewed would either be accepted or waitlisted? I haven't heard other decisions. Is that correct?

I would highly recommend the Best Western at Iwo Jima. It's very cheap compared to other places in DC. It's only one metro stop away from the GWU/Foggy Bottom Station. It should only take 10 minutes to go between stops.

The Best Western also has a parking lot if you were driving over. I would recommend driving to DC and leaving your car at the Best Western parking lot. But just taking the metro from the Rosslyn Station (where Best Western is) to the GWU/Foggy Bottom Station. The metro station stops right near the building you will interview at.

Again I didn't have a student host, b/c i stayed at the Best Western. It's up to you. I prefer the comfort of my own hotel so I didn't do that.

The interviews are very laid back. They are blind so they don't know anything about you. The questions are general as well (look at the interview feedback forum). Anyways hope that helps, good luck

Do you recall how much Best Western at Iwo Jima was for you? I called this morning and they are $159.85/night with the GW Med discount. I found a cheaper place for $145.65, but that's the best I've found 🙁

For you or anyone else out there:
When I interviewed at GW, I stayed at the Days Inn on Connecticut Ave. It is within a couple blocks of the metro (Van Ness UDC) which is probably a 20ish minute metro ride to GW. It's actually quite a nice hotel and near places to eat (burger king, starbucks, some other places). I booked with easyclicktravel.com (weird name) for about $100 for a night.

where did you look? look on the website for best western iwo jimma. i don't think i paid any more than $ 120. Unless you are looking for a room for tonight that price sounds too expensive.
 
Hi! I was hoping to stay with a current student but I haven't received a response since e-mailing the address mentioned earlier in the forum. Does it normally take awhile to get a response??

Ok, haven't been to this thread in a while, but after reading about the "applicant pool" e-mail, I am pretty nervous. I have been on hold for a while now, but did not get that e-mail....🙁
I guess I will send in a letter of interest, but what the heck do I say? Besides interest in the school, I really don't have anything to show that my application has improved, so do I just tell them, hey I really want to go here?
Also where should I send it?

Anybody NOT send in a LOI and get an interview? And those that have gotten an interview, mind sharing stats and whether you were put on hold or not?

Wow, lots of questions, I guess as it get closer to March, I get a little more insane...:laugh:

Don't worry about not getting the letter, I never did. Last Friday when everyone was getting the letter I wrote an update letter just letting them know what I was up to and why I wanted to attend GW. Later that day I received an invite from them, maybe it was the letter maybe they were already planning on inviting not really sure. I was complete since the last week of september/first of october and put on hold immediately.

I wouldn't worry so much either. Maybe they are sending them out in waves or something.
 
sigh.. interviewed 12/4 so 8 weeks today but still nothing. i just want to know... and hopefully good news because i really loved gw!

hi everyone,
i sent out a LOI last week via mail. Does anyone know how long it takes before GW gets back to you?
 
Working on my LOI right now...does anybody know the class profile for GW? And those that got interviews, mind sharing stats? (if u PM me plz let me know you were replying to the GW thread, I post this question on almost every school I applied too...lol)

Anyone heard anything since the LOI email? I sent one in the day after they sent the email. I was wondering if they are waiting until Feb 10th to see who all sends a LOI...

I was thinkin about calling them, but I don't want to be a pest...😀

They just send a confirmation that your letter has been added to your file. They can grant (or not) interviews as they please up until the end of the interview cycle.

I got a response saying "thank you" after I sent in the letter of interest.
 
I just booked a room at The Melrose for $99.00/night; which after taxes came to $113.36. I interview on the 9th of February, and the booking is for Monday night. It's three blocks away from the medical center and is listed on GWU's website, so it seems like a good deal to me. The cheapest room on their site is like $157+tax for the same thing, so it definitely pays to call.

Thanks for the input- I got that email too. I was just wondering if anyone has gotten invited since the whole LOI email
 
could someone tell me what the proper procedure for sending a letter of interest is? do i just put the text of the letter in the body of the email, or should i attach a separate document? what do i include in the letter? gwu is my first choice, i'm doing such-and-such.. should i mention i was accepted into georgetown smp and that i'll be doing that if i don't get in?

ALSO, do i just send the email to [email protected]?

I don't really know the proper procedure, but I can tell you what I did. I just pasted the text in the body of the email, which seems to work, since an admission counselor kindly replied to it. 🙂.. and that's the same email address I used to send in my letter.

From advice that has been given to me, if GWU is truly your first choice, state so clearly, and I think it should be well received. Include any updates, but also what you like about the school, and how you might be a good fit. I'm not sure about mentioning your other options, I think people have mixed feelings about it.

That's all I know about the letter of interest. It's my first time writing one also, so you might know these things already. But I hope it helps some! 🙂 Good luck with the rest of the process! 🙂

hmm.. no response at all? Did you send to the email address above? because i got mine in 2 days.. You probably should call in to check. I would if I were you 🙂
 
so, my mom said she got a call from GWU but i was at work. when i came home and checked the caller ID and called back the number, it was infact GWU (i was connected to their main hotline)...any thoughts on why theyd be calling me?

my latest status was that my app was put on hold
 
Todays events:

12:30: send update letter
12:38: response from admissions office saying update letter added to my file
3:30: rejected

4 months on hold.

at least they got back to me pretty quickly.
 
Application was placed on hold in september. Sent an update about 2 weeks ago and got rejected today. Oh well at least I know. Unlike most of the other schools where I have been under review forever.

i was rejected as well today.....i never received that "send an update" e-mail and was in the process of drafting one hah.....at least i'm in good company heh
 
Rejected pre-interview. $125.00 down the drain.🙁
 
Don't worry guys. Now I am jealous, because I am sure they will reject me eventually.
 
Rejected pre-interview today as well. Yippy! Oh well, I wasn't really interested in GW anyways.
 
I wonder if they even read my LOI I sent today or they made the decision a while back.

Hey it could be a good thing! Just be glad you still got a chance even though it's late. Anything is better than a rejection.
