How does the process work then?? And is it possible to hear back before the 6-8 week mark they said during the interview??

Thanks

Yea it is possible to hear back before the 6-8 weeks they claim. I heard back after about 5 weeks...but also remember that some people have waited longer than the 8 week period.

Any invites lately?

I've been on hold since October/November and received the "interest" email and replied with a brief update. But no news!

I'm right there with you!! I guess it's better than a rejection though. Good luck to us both!

Hey guys, i know that invitations have been going out as late as last week for interview slots as early as early march...

don't give up hope, if you aren't rejected they are probably reviewing you and trying to fit you in somewhere!

That's what I'm hoping.

No. GW doesnt always go in order. 👍 But good luck to you!! :xf: I am waiting as well.

Did you hear back yet Mandible?

I feel like i'm the only person on here in a while thats been waiting for a post-interview response... did everyone else hear already or something?

I guess as the days go by I become even more (if its possible) of a paranoid pre-med...

Hello everyone,
I got an email asking for a letter of good standing from my masters program and also proof of citizenship from them. Does that mean good news?!?

A few of us have received update requests from GW post-interview (transcripts, letters of good standing, updates on extracurricular activities, etc.). I think we can take it to mean they are strongly considering us, but nothing beyond that.

Yesterday was the 6th week since my interview. No decision yet. Anybody get any news from GW?

6 weeks for me too... no news.
I've been waking up late this whole week, couldn't sleep last night and woke up extra early thinking I'd be getting a decision from GW this am. No news yet!

I was hoping for some love b/c I felt i was a true fit for their program, and also as a local person I thought that would make me more likely to attend their school in admissions eyes? Personally, I want to go to a school closer to home. GW was my only interview! I just want to know if I'm in so i'm not holding out false hope and so I know if I should restudy for mcats and reapply. I'm a rip-the-bandaid-off-at-all-at-once kind of person.

I got an email about what I'm up to as well, I think they just want to clarify because if you aren't still in undergrad they want an in-detail response and their secondary only fit two sentences (I think I had to abbreviate my job titles just to get in a quick description of what it is I do!).

hopefully it means they are interested.

I got my interview invite on a friday afternoon right before 5pm when their office closed. I guess we still have 6-7 more hours.

I'm interviewing March 2nd, next Tuesday. Anyone have some advice? Commonly asked questions? Cheap but comfortable place to stay?

Thanks!

During my day I think a lot of people said Embassy Suites was cheapest and its close.

Commonly asked questions - check out the sdn interviews page, that helped BIG time.

Also - read the pdf they sent you, theres a lot of interesting stuff about the school and you'll be prepared to ask important questions regarding your own interest in the school. remember, they are also trying to sell themselves to you so make sure you aren't too "I just wanna get in" and use this opportunity to ask the questions that matter to you and what you want from your medical education.

half an hour till the office closes... still no news.

anyone hear back today?

For some reason I feel like this is the week where we will here something, whether it be good or bad... 😱

Bestern Western at Iwo Jima....Super comfortable, cheap, and only one train stop away from Foggy Bottom

What makes you think that?

because jan 4th week ppl heard 2 weeks ago!! jan 11th week people have yet to hear ANYTHING...

this means that something must have slowed them down by a week (maybe snow)

and this week, they are starting up informing ppl again about acceptances and interviews.

this is the scenario at the adcom that i am imagining.

👍👍They do not always go in order. Take it from experience. (usually but not always.) So hang on.:xf:

Interview invites got sent out today! For the 9th and for the 12th... maybe more. Those are the only dates I heard about.

Are u still waiting? what week did you interview? If you heard back, when did you hear back?

Know anyone who has heard back about acceptances in the last week?

I am getting so frustrated cuz I need to start studying now for mcats if i need to reapply... i wish GWU would just let me know so I can get crackin on them ek books again full force. or i can breathe a sigh of relief knowing i am headed in the right direction.

Just curious to know how you know??

Also, does anyone know how they review applicants post interview? Is it just some kind of formula or is it more of a discussion on each applicant??

And are they strict on MCAT numbers? For example, can a lower than average MCAT section score be made up for by a higher GPA?

I know they keep this stuff pretty confidential but I was wondering if anyone had any insight...thanks in advance.

I got an interview for March 12! Anyone else?! So excited!!!

for those that interviewed already:

about how many people does GW interview per interview day, and how many times a week does GW interview people? (2-3?)

anyone know when GW stops interviewing? (anyone look this up on last year's thread?)

Really? That seems kind of rushed doesn't it? You only have 9 days notice. I assumed they would be on April interviews by now.
edit: were you on hold before the invite?

When I interviewed there were like 20 people but they said that day was a little larger because they had to accomodate a few interviewees who had had to reschedule to our date. From what I understand, they interview twice a week, but I don't know that for sure.

Your plan should encompass all things untill they unfold. Just my thoughts.

I know this because my acceptance came later then most people I interviewed with. others who interviewed after me were accepted before me. So like I said, the order is not concrete. Not usually.

Hope that helps. Good luck friends. :xf::luck:

Not sure how many people they interview per day, but on the invite they said they interview Tuesday, Thursday and Friday only. Also, someone called the Admissions Office a couple weeks ago (it's one of the previous posts on this forum) and they said they hadn't set a final date for interviews to stop.

anyone know if they've announced dates for a second look weekend???? it'd be really great to find out...

yep - Tue, Thur, Friday interview dates

but some interview dates are smalle, mine had a few less people to begin with and then people ended up not showing too so my interview group was small.
it all depends i guess.

anyone hear any word on acceptances this week (i know, second time asking! please excuse my impatience)

Got waitlisted today. Hope GWU comes through, it's where I went to undergrad!

Hey gonzalt...sorry to hear about the waitlist. Hope you get accepted soon though!

When did you have your interview at GW?

Hey Gonzalt - same boat. Waitlisted too... cept they put it in fancier words... "alternate" list... oh and they were "pleased to inform" me.

same story - not gw undergrad, but maryland native, stayed here for college, only really applied close to home cuz I got too much love for the DMV to leave. really wanted in at GW, I thought I was a great fit for their program and I liked their Global Health opportunities, really liked their ties to WHO.

interview day
- faculty interview not great, student interview = great. Although my student interviewer told me not to feel bad if i was waitlisted cuz he got waitlisted and had an interview in jan like me and he was accepted off waitlist in July... so I guess i should take his advice?

STATS - MD resident, top 20 undergrad, cum 3.5, sci 3.45 AO 3.6 MCAT 11PS 9VR 10BS, lots of ECs many global health and public health related, glide year (2009-2010) did neuro research and clinical work in ORs. interviewed in beginning of jan.

but on the flip side... i guess its better than being rejected! Gonzalt and other waitlisters - hang in there! 🙂 hopefully GWU waitlist will move!

Haha I always thought it was funny how they are "pleased to inform" people when they have been placed on the alternate list. I guess it makes everyone feel special. But if you think about it, what they're really saying is "we are pleased to inform you that we don't really want to accept you outright but if a spot opens up, we may consider it." 😛

did anyone get accepted yesterday? We've heard from a few waitlists but no acceptances...I'm still waiting to hear back. Going on my 7th week with no news 🙁

Did anyone else get this weird email? I didn't know that schools do this. I'm just going to "pretend" I was rejected completely...

"The Committee on Admissions regrets to inform you that we are not able to offer you an interview at this time. However, the Committee would like to keep your application in active status.

There is a very slim possibility that the Committee on Admissions may decide to offer a few interviews in late spring. Your file has been placed in a pool of applicants from which the Committee would select those to be interviewed."

Got this baby in the mailbox this morning.

We greatly appreciate your patience and truly wish you success in achieving your career goal.

Sincerely,

Got that email too. Seems like they are contradicting themselves. Their interview season is closed yet there is a possibility that we may still get invited?

I like how they underlined very slim in the email. Nice touch😉

Here's an idea, why don't SDN'ers who got this email just post on here and lets see how many we get...
