JHU is amazing.

I have to say that while the opportunities for students, facilities, and educational resources of the school are some of the best I have seen anywhere in this process, I was most impressed by the students themselves and the attitude of those that work with them (faculty, administration, and yes, even security!).

I highly recommend going to the greeters meeting the night before and then getting out of bed early and catching a lecture. You will get far more out of the day if you go to one of the classes than if you sleep in.

This place felt like home to me. I can't really explain it, and I guess we'll find out soon enough if the school loved me as much as I loved it, but this was the first place that I felt like I already "belonged." Very cool experience.

Here's to the wait 👍

:luck: everybody!

Bamtuba, we know who you are, and it was an absolute pleasure meeting you at greeters! We just finished anatomy, so I have a little more time now to goof around on SDN, and we're always thrilled to see such comments about us here 🙂.

Good luck to everyone🙂

I wish I could go to the Greeters thingy so I could get an equally creepy message. 😛 🙁

Yeah, I'm not really that anonymous around here. Oh well. I don't mind being myself...I really don't know how else to be!

My wife got a real laugh when I said this same things and then scrolled down to find your post.

lol, that's what I was going for . no worries though.

I'm glad to hear that it was intentional 😉

I know a few MS1s so I'll just make them greet me instead.

Well don't you just know everyone... 😛

Thanks again for all of the hospitality. JHU was amazing as were the students at all levels. I would LOVE to have a chance to go to Baltimore for the next four years. Guess I'll find out soon enough!

Definitely wrong thread. LoL! I was wondering where my other post went cause I looked and it wasn't there. I thought I canceled it.

I just interviewed today. It was for 30 minutes and was very conversational. He pretty much just wanted to know what questions I had about Columbia and then we just talked for half an hour. Other interviews that I've been to usually say that they're conversational but focus more on your application or specific questions. This one definitely was just a conversation. I wonder how much the interview is weighted in your app since it's only 30 minutes long and with one person.

Wrong thread? Or wrong school?

Thanks Desaad! Im pumped.

First of all, congrats to iCarly!

Second of all, I agree that in a lot of ways a 'bad area' is actually a positive. Lots more opportunities to practice, to see the rather rough side of things.

As much as my dream school is Mayo, I don't think (if I ever got in, which is a longshot anyway) that I would ever get to see a GSW there, which is a bit...sad isn't the right word, but maybe sheltered?

It's one of the things that appeals to me about the New York schools as well.

Finally got the 'complete' email yesterday. I submitted my secondary mid-August. Fingers crossed... 🙂

Apparently last year Hopkins called people who got accepted from the first round on the night of the 14th after 5pm. Anyone hear anything or did they change it this year?

I am excited for those who interviewed in the first couple weeks. I interviewed end of Sept and absolutely can't wait for them to get back in a couple of weeks. (They told me about 4-6 weeks on my interview day which means I won't be hearing back tomorrow unless the adcom has quickly reviewed all the files)

Interview invite, complete two days ago after submitting about one month ago.

For some reason I really love Baltimore. Only been there a few times, but it just seemed cool to me.

So...I've made a serious commitment. If I am lucky enough to be accepted at Hopkins, I will immediately go out and purchase season #1 of "The Wire."😀

I remember hearing on the interview day that acceptances won't be sent out until late October. I interviewed in mid-September.

yeah there were a couple interview days the week before us, though, and i believe they hear today (!!!)

Yea I interviewed the first week and they said that they would call on the 15th... But I know several people from my day who have heard nothing so until otherwise, Im gonna keep up hope!

lol i've been complete two months this week... i'll get it before you probably

c:9/25, no news.

Has anyone actually gotten a pre-interview rejection yet? Maybe they wait on sending out most rejections until January?

If they have reviewed your app and not invited you in for an interview yet, what do you think the chances of getting an invite in the future are?

i think they sent out a few rejections through the mail already... i've been checking mine everyday for it just for some closure

haha, me too!! I honestly wish they would just reject me already. I've been complete since 9/3 so if they wanted me, i feel like they would have offered an interview by now...

But maybe they are just putting us in some kind of "maybe interview" pile. You figure they probably decide - interview, no interview, and maybe. But it would help to have some folks post that they were rejected after being complete. I haven't seen it too much.

🙂

If I was complete 9/30 and still haven't heard back, what does that mean? Others that were complete around the same time have received interviews. So I'm probably R.E.J.E.C.T.E.D.

Just got the snail mail letter.. was definitely a reach school but even the more painful since I've worked there for almost 3 years.... at least I'm thankful to have other interviews thus far...

Does anyone know whether Valerie Mazza is "Ms" or "Dr"? I can't seem to find this info and I need to send over a quick email. Thanks!!!!

title it director mazza

Baltimore: None of the areas I visited were sketchy at all.”

I submitted my app in late Sept. Do they email saying complete. Right now my status page says (Application System Status: Submitted). Does this mean it isn't complete?
thnx

Give it time. You'll get an email saying that your app is complete, but the status online won't change.

You will get 2 emails from JHU post-submission. The first one will be a 'Paper Secondary Received' email and then the next one will be a 'Your application is complete and under review email'. Since you submitted in late Sept, It could take them a while to send you these confirmations as the interview season is in full swing and they probably have a couple thousand apps still left for review.
Hope this helps!

Just to let you guys know, I know a couple of people who interviewed the first week who did get calls on the 15th. So acceptances are being sent out.

nice to know. thx. if you interviewed in october, you will not hear until thanksgiving! only those who interviewed in september are given decisions at this point

Thx for the info! You called the admissions office?

nope. they told us this on interview day. they meet once a month. so the school is semi-rolling. if you interviewed in oct, even with a 45 mcat, you wont hear until thanksgiving

Guys, question time:
On the 2nd app page, it said 24 semester hours of social and behavior sciences are required. I wonder what kind of classes are they? I don't know if I have these classes.

Hmm that's interesting. on our interview day (9/17) we were told that we'd hear around october 27th. but the interview dates a week before us (9/10-9/11) are apparently hearing now...this suggests more than a once-monthly meeting, no? or at least a meeting schedule that is offset (like if they meet on the 15th of each month, which would mean some october interviewees could have been decided on by the adcom by the time the next notification calls go out).

Who knows? Let's not overthink this. I need to push JHU out of my mind. I fell in love with it, and I'm gonna be heartbroken if I don't get in.

Hope that it's still not too late for me to start writing secondary...
