any interviews going on? i was complete on 10/1 . haven't heard anything. too late to hear about an interview?

Hopkins is one school which sends out both pre and post interview rejections once they make that decision. If you haven't received a rejection yet, then they either haven't reviewed your application or they maybe put you on some kind of 'internal hold' or 'review later' category (I don't even if they do that but its likely they do). So I would still be optimistic if you are waiting. Also, they interview only 2 days a week (Thurs/Fri) which means that their invites might go out at a slower pace than schools which interview 3-5 days a week.

In the info they send to you when you get an interview, there is mention of a House and Student Activities session at 10:15am on Thursdays and Fridays, before you interview.

Has anyone gone to this? Worthwhile?

u'll get a tour of empty dorms. u're better off going to a class and checking out the dorms later when people are actually there to chat it up.

Hmm ok thanks. I plan to make the drive to JHU in the early morning, so I won't have a host or anything to tell me where/when class is held. I'll probably just get there early and ask admissions office.

i think classes should still start by 8. in the armstrong building. you can ask the security guard to point to the main lecture hall. u don't need to feel bad about walking in late but if u do feel bad, just wait for them to go on break. u'll see all the students stream out of the lecture hall. did u look thru the interview packet they sent you? there is a map there. it's pretty good. everything is fairly close, including the parking lot. in fact, if u park when i think u will park, armstrong is closer than the admissions office which u don't need to go to until 11:00.

OK cool cool. Yep got the packet, got the map. Sounds like a plan.

Thanks a lot for the info. If we both end up at Hopkins, I'll buy you an icecream/beer/something cool.

Haha, I'm not that bad, but I am anxious to know.

No, you're worse. 😛

I'm still pretty happy to have been waitlisted here, but the weirdest thing happened: they sent me a duplicate "you are now on our waitlist" letter, dated one week after the first one. 😕

Maybe they discussed me twice and are just REALLY consistent.

Or not. 👍

Anyhow, :luck: to all of those still waiting to hear back. I have a feeling we'll be hearing some good news from the peanut gallery tomorrow and Friday :xf:

crap I just realized I wrote on my app that I was interested in private practice, when in fact I'm actually interested in academic medicine....

please change this on my app for me, hopkins! my amcas id# is 13495721. Thanks!

Haha, well it looks like you still got an interview so maybe you can clarify if they ask you "where you see yourself in 10 years?".

Congrats to all of you who have gotten in!! and to those of you who still haven't heard back for interviews, don't lose hope...the wait will be worth it.

on another note:

Do you guys know how much weight they put on the interview? thanks.

and

Has anyone sent updates to the school? How should I go about doing that?

I've interviewed here already, but I'm asking for a friend who submitted around the same time as me....

Is there a point at which you should hear a definite decision (sometime BEFORE march lol)? I mean, if you have not received an interview or rejection, does that mean your file hasn't been reviewed at all? Or could they have reviewed it and just set it aside?

I think sometimes they might put files on an internal hold if they are considering giving you an interview (a borderline app I guess). But I think if they decide to not interview or reject post-interview they let you know.

anyone else on the alternate list? do people get accepted off the list throughout the review period or only if people who are eventually accepted decline the offer?

I know this must have been covered in this thread already, but what's the post-interview breakdown between acceptances/waitlists/rejections? Thanks!

I see 36% for acc/int% from USNWR 2008-2009, don't know about the rest.

Where is this information?

US News and World Report. I bought the online edition of best graduate schools when I was starting to think about where to apply and then I crunched the raw data to get that. JHU interviewed 17.8% of applicants, accepted 36% of those interviewed, and enrolled 42.3% of those accepted. For comparison, Harvard has the most unforgiving figures post-interview, with 18.8% interviewed, 23.3% of those interviewed eventually accepted, and 68.8% of those accepted enrolled.

Yeah I figured I would have to buy it. Darn. 🙂

i interviewed on oct 8, and i think they said they'll be contacting us sometime this week. anybody know the date for certain?

!! when did you interview?? good luck! i hope they don't keep you waiting much longer...

Oct 16th.

i interviewed on oct 8, and i think they said they'll be contacting us sometime this week. anybody know the date for certain?

It was Thursday and Friday last time they called people, so I'd assume then.

Oh my gosh I'm IN!!!! Just got the phone call from Director Mazza!!!

:xf: This is pretty nerve-wracking. 🙁
And remember, last time calls went out over the course of a couple days, so no news today may not mean anything. 🙂 I'm rooting for all of you waiting to hear!

I was complete at this school on August 19 but have NOT received my rejection letter yet. I mean I know a lot of people here who were complete before me who have received theirs. So how come I haven't received mine? Do any of you know what this potentially means? On hold?

I am IN!! 🙂 Director Mazza called me an hour ago. Interviewed 10/15
