anyone else interview this coming tuesday? for those have interviewed, how are the interviews and can you guys give any advice? i heard that there are three one on one interviews, right? And how long do we wait after our interview to hear a decision? Any updates on how many spots left?

We have exams on Monday and Tuesday. You stick your head in and watch our ears bleed while you are taking the tour.

looks like u noticed, well i was actually asking for my friend the first time, but no I'm interviewing the first time March 17th. My friend got in, hope I get good news too...

Any current students want to share their opinion of the prematriculation program, thanks?

Hey guys,

Just curious, does the acceptance letter envelope contain anything on the front such as "Time-sensitive" since people have some amount of limited time to make a decision on attending LSU?
Also is it a single acceptance letter or a thicker envelope as opposed to the "no decision yet" letter?

It was a single letter in a regular envelope.

At least u got something back. U may get a spot in May. Don't give up.

I know, that's what I'm hoping for. It just bothers me that I was accepted to Shreveport 6 months ago, and I just received my first waitlist letter to New Orleans, which has a larger class size (and it's the same school my father went to). I'll obviously be happy if I get in, but if I'm qualified for one school, why not the other? Planning for next year is just more and more difficult with each passing day. I do know I'm going to medical school next year, though, so I probably can't complain (even though I am).

for whatever its worth, shreveport is far more selective in who they invite for an interview than nola is. so congrats on your acceptance!

You can't count on anything in this process.

Lots of bad information on this site. First of all, Shreveport is not more selective than New Orleans as far as invites are concerned. New Orleans has WAY more people applying to their school than Shreveport (something like 1800 for N.O. versus like 700 for Shreve), and NO has a bigger 1st year class size (200 vs 100) compared to Shreve, so N.O. has to interview more people than Shreve. This comes to 1/7 people who apply to Shreve get in, but 1/9 peopple who apply get into NO. Second, I knew a girl who was interviewed and accepted in Shreveport but was not even interviewed in New Orleans. She met with the adcom reps at LSUNO to see if there was any way she could get into NO, but no such luck. Most people want to go to LSUNO - better facilities and better city.

As far as the acceptance letter is concerned, it is thicker than the no final action letter - which is NOT a waitlist letter - you will only get a waitlist letter following the May 15 date when people accepted to med school have to make their decision where they wish to attend. It is thicker because if you are accepted you get two copies of a two page acceptance letter, one of which you must sign and return to the office if you wish to hold your spot at LSUNO. No final action letter does not mean waitlist letter.

Yep...........Considering there are only ~800 people applying with legal
residence of Louisiana.

Really........I know a guy that got accepted to NO but not Shreveport.

And...........Are we really arguing over envelope thickness of one extra sheet?

Just looked at some of your posts...you're a real douche, ain't ya? Please let me know when you don't get into med school.

First, everyone needs to chill out. Second, why is it weird that people got into one and not the other? There are different committees at different schools. One school may like someone. The other may not. Welcome to med school applications.

lol, my bad, i didn't mean to offend anyone with my comment. its true, both schools kinda look at different things. and nothing is guaranteed in this process, we all know that. just figured that since most people that interview at shreveport get in, that they were more selective.
p.s.-im not from n.la. haha

Dr. Douche,

My God, you're a tool. No friends? Still a virgin? Mommy let you play on computer? That explains your hundreds of posts.

Anyway, I was accepted to New Orleans; I really hope you're not lying and you were accepted in New Orleans too. If so, I'm looking forward to meeting you in person. I think I can figure out who you are out of 200 people.

Do me a favor and keep checking this every day, multiple times a day, like you seem to do since you obviously have no life whatsoever. Over 700 posts? Wow. Exciting life you lead.

Again, can't wait to meet you.👍

And if you will be beginning med school this fall, try your best to break your hymen, ok? Thanks.

I love that those two are going to be classmates for the next four years.

I love how this is the most attention this thread has gotten.

Almost better than checking out the Harvard thread earlier this week.

yeah the shreveport thread only has 2 pages. QUICK, someone start something there! we need to keep LSU on the first page of school discussions. geauuuuux tigers!

Does anyone know anything or have an opinion on the prematriculation program? Thanks

I miss you too!!

:smack:

I suppose its alright to keep the love fest going.

I don't want to spend my summer doing med school when I have all of med school to do med school.

My sentiments exactly. It doesn't really seem like spend enough time on any one particular thing to get anything out of it. I suppose it would help if you weren't a science major.

ooh i miss you too Dr McSexy!

Also, I completely agree that prematriculation programs in general are worthless. If you got into med school, you'll do fine in med school without going through a prematriculation program. Your prematriculation program should involve traveling, hanging out with friends and family, and finding a place to live during med school.

Did anyone get a confirmation email with the schedule of the interview day and stuff before their interview? My interview is supposed to be in a week, but I haven't gotten anything...Given the number of times my LORs got lost, I'm getting worried...as in..do they actually have me scheduled, or is it my imagination?

I would go ahead and e-mail the admissions office. There's nothing besides the directions and the time to be there that you need in the e-mail, but still good to have anyway.

i just had the March 17th interview, it was a good day for me. If you have a good feeling about an interview, is that a good sign?

Well yes that is definitely a good sign, but at this point, a good interview doesn't mean as much as it does for those who interviewed in the fall. I interviewed March 1st and it was awesome, but I'm keeping my options open. I've been accepted to some DO schools and am considering other options for next year incase I decide to reapply through AMCAS. So definitely keep your head up b/c there is still a chance you will be accepted, but be prepared for the worst! :xf:

I see but I am glad Dr. Eubanks made a point and said that there are still open spots in the class and that this interview is not a waste of time as obviously we must be capable of med school if we got an interview. But if you interviewed March 1st, will they make a decision for you next Friday? I was told to call and see what my status is just in case they loose my letter in the mail.

I had some REALLY funny guys on the March 17th interview, it was SUPER funny. I heard this one guy tell me what he heard Dr. Kennedy at LSU Shreveport ask in an interview, ' describe in 1 sentence why you want to be a doctor, and it's got to be unique, it can't be something that everybody else says,' ahahahahahah! How intimidating!!!

Yeah the interview definitely was not a waste of time. Dr. Eubanks is honest and straight-forward about the whole process during the orientation. I received a letter saying no further action has been taken on my application the week after I interviewed. From what I know, if we don't receive a letter of acceptance by May 15th, we will either be placed on the waitlist or rejected. Eubanks said that usually the first 20 off of the waitlist get spots after May 15th. Good luck!!! 👍

Is anybody thinking of going to the Camp Tiger auction thing tomorrow night?

I was thinking about going and wanted to see if anybody here was or anybody else had any thoughts, opinions, etc.

I'm going with a bunch of friends.... You should go! It's going to be awesome. A bunch of my L1 friends have been working hard putting it together, and it's going to be a great night of jazz, cocktails, and yummy food. And all proceeds of course go to Camp Tiger. 😀
