Haha!!My sentiments exactly!

And there was one guy in the group who kept asking every person he came accross about "student life activities" like that was the most important thing when selecting a med school.

LOL
i do recall someone asking that actually..can't rmr who but i heard it!

yes odd indeed!
..but actually there is ALWAYS weird students that come to interview!

like some kids that don't even bother to smile or say hi b/c they are too busy sizing up their competition..yeah that's just silly, rude, and unnecessary!
D-bags if you ask me 🙂

Im sure some of the people are just naturally more reserved than others, and some are probably just nervous about the impending interviews.

I don't know if you took the tour of the hospital afterwards, but the mood of the other students seemed much more relaxed since the
interviews were over with...

But yeah, Im sure some people are just being
stuck-up or d-bags for whatever reason on interview day.

When did you interview at A&M?

yes very true!
i never interviewed at A&M
i am just hoping that i do!! 🙂

i see that you are hoping that youre on the list for the second batch of prematch offers without an interview. That is a bold strategy!

Lol! That confused me a little too... But I like the confidence! Gig em'

lol sorry for the confusion
me and u both. i am really hoping i can get an interview invite from this school. does anyone know the last dates for A&M interview?

I am pretty sure it is the 17th- that was the last one listed on the RSVP page.

So, is everyone certain that another batch of acceptances will come out this week? It seems so soon. They really haven't had anymore interviews, other than the 19th, of late. It makes more sense that they might let the interviews accrue before sending out more acceptance offers, but that is my opinion, which I hope is wrong. For our sake, I hope more are sent out this week and I am one of them.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and that we all get good news soon.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, there has only been 1 interview session (Nov. 19th) since the initial batch of prematch offers was sent out on Nov. 16th (due to Thanksgiving break last week). It seems soon, but I know A&M is also waiting to see how many rejections they have received, and judging from that, they also send out more acceptances.

Since A&M conducts 4 more rounds of interviews after the initial batch of pre-match offers are sent out (Nov. 19th, Dec. 3rd, 10th, and 17th), I would expect them to send out 1 more round of offers after the week of Dec. 3rd (next week, not this week), and another after the week of Dec. 17th, so that they would be split up evenly. That would also give them adequate time to receive rejections from students who are positive that they are not going to A&M and give out more offers accordingly. But that is just my assumption; I could be wrong.

For what it's worth, on the interview date, 19 Nov, I asked a couple of admissions committee members what dates in December they were going to send out the two additional pre-match batches. They said that they didn't know... it had not yet been determined.

cher,

Thank you for your insight.

Have you heard any indication as to how many more offers will be sent out for these next batches of the pre-match? And, do you know of any others that were accepted from the 19th interview date?

Thanks,
J

Yeah, I had heard the same thing from an admissions director, and also that offers would be sent out every week, but the major "batches" would be sent out in December, and those could include people that interviewed before November 15th.

I'm guessing that the offers sent out every week (presumably Tuesday) are mainly for people that interviewed past November 15th, and the offers that will be sent in batches in December are put together in accordance to how many pre-match rejections are received, and can include students from any interview date. I guess we'll just have to wait and see:xf:

I just got a phone call interview invite at 5 today! yay!! I'm a little scared though... I heard that Texas AM interviews were tough! Did anyone interview at temple? What were your thoughts?

I interviewed at College Station, and my interviews there were
definitely the toughest I've had. Although, it might have
just been the people I interviewed with. My first interviewer
definitely gave the impression that he/she was trying to be confrontational.

The interviewer kept pressing me for more and more, and eventually
I ran out of cogent arguments to support my point and
had to give an "i don't know" response to the interviewer.

I think it still went ok though. Just don’t be surprised or take it personal
if your interviewer seems tough on you, I’m sure they're doing
it on purpose.

Sorry, I don't know how many more spots that they have to fill. Filo mentioned that they were still filling spots through Dec 31 and that's as far as he went into it. He then explained that if waitlisted, there's a process to go through for a chance of getting off the waitlist.

So far, I haven't heard of any others accepted from the 11/19 interview date. These adcoms can be so unpredictable!

Congrats on the invite!😀 Prepare for tough. I was one of the lucky few that had laid back interviews. But in the room where the interviewees wait between interviews, I'd spoken with a few students that had really really tough questions. These people look deeply into your app so be sure to go over your app and secondary thoroughly before the interview. Everything that I was asked was very application heavy in the sense that I was asked specific questions about things that I had mentioned in my app. Some of the things caught me a little off guard because I barely mentioned them in my app and didn't even remember putting them in there (my fault for not reviewing my app). Anyhow one girl had on my interview date had her interview via webstream. She said she walked into a room with a chair and a screen. On the screen was her interviewer who asked her the typical, 3 biggest problems in medicine, how would you fix healthcare, etc type questions. On top of that, there was like a 5 to 10 second delay. She was not pleased to say the least.

I interviewed at Temple on Nov 19. My interviews were really nice and good. I agree all they asked about were things taken from my application. This is one of my favorite interviews. They asked very good questions and sincerely cared about what you put down on your application.

My interviews were both pretty good. I wouldn't necessarily say "laid back", as I wouldn't consider any of my interviews to be that way, because of the implications. Just be prepared to answer questions on your application, healthcare, ethical issues, etc. and you'll be fine. Also be prepared to have a student/resident interview you, as that is very common. If you do receive a tough interviewer, just know that they're trying to test you and don't break down. Try to think of questions to ask during your interview day as well. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I know the interviewers have your ps and secondary, but do they also have your gpa and mcat?

thanks

Yes, they do... it's completely open file and my MCAT and gpa were discussed with both of my interviewers.

How many people did they interview a day? Do they mainly focus on your application or do they focus on healthcare/stem cells/ etc

They interview approximately 50 during each interview session, 25 at Temple, and 25 at College Station. They mainly focus on your application, with a few questions about healthcare and/or ethical issues included. They are trying to get to know you as an individual, so the healthcare/ethical issues are asked to see how you will respond, not necessarily what answer you give (there is no right/wrong answer). As long as you are relaxed and conversational (don't just give short yes/no answers without elaborating), you'll do fine. 👍

does anyone know if a&m is still offering interviews? i'm still under review and heard that the school won't let you know anything else about your status.

I'm sure that they are because just yesterday someone posted that they got an interview invite. My app was complete and under review in late June/early July and I didn't get an invite until late Oct for Nov. At this point, so close to the end of the interview season, I think it wouldn't hurt to send the admissions office an update letter or letter of interest. You really have nothing to lose by doing so.

Good luck:luck:

I assume due to this thread's inactivity this
week that they have not released the second "batch" of
prematches yet?

So do you guys think it will happen next week?

it should happen next week...i have talked to several people that have either had interviews recently at A&M or know about the prematch offer process and they have all said that the second batch is going out in the beginning of December. GL guys :xf:

ok so i got an interview, but didn't get an offer during the first pre-match. Will sending in an update letter help me in any respect? I recently got a new research assistant job in a clinical research institute, and I think I should let them know that. Will this will help me in the 2nd batch of offer? Also if I am going to write one, should I send it through email or mail?
Thanks

I called Admissions and they actually told me "mid-december", and if any more offers are sent out, they will be sent out on December 21st. They might have just been covering their bases though, and might be planning on sending some next week, so who knows. But that's what they told me.

I specifically remember Mrs Diaz saying that once the committee meets and decides on your application ( which happens shortly after interview day), the admission committee isn't going to 're-rank' you because of an update. I was left with the impression this sort of update might become meaningful when a waitlist is being compiled.

Anyone else hear anything about this?

This is what Mr. Maldonado said on Thursday:

Second batch is this coming week (week of December 7th).

Third batch is after the last interview date (which I think is December 17th)..

No matter when you interviewed, you could be in either batch.

I didn't hear anything about this at my interview but it sounds pretty accurate to me. The committee meets as a whole on Fridays to rank the 25 or so students they interviewed (this includes all interviewers-med. students, professors, physicians, as well the admissions members), so I don't see any way they could re-rank students simply by receiving some sort of update.

Hey guyz, do you know if we were suppose to get a confirmation email or not after we Rsvp'ed Yes on the form on their secondary app website? I did not receive anything like I did for other schools.

You mean when you RSVP with your interview date on the BAMF website? There's no confirmation e-mail sent after that. But there is a reminder e-mail that they send the day before your interview. Good luck 👍

Sooooooooooooooooooooo that next wave hasn't gone out yet. Anyone else getting a little fidgety?

Yesss I am!

I was glad to see that it does not look like the second batch has been sent yet 'cause I have not heard anything.... It still might be today though, they have another hour or so...

I am feeling the same way the two of you are.

We all want this and it stinks waiting!! Hurry up and wait!! Haha.

Good luck to all, may we all get good news.

Yeah, I honestly think that they're not even going to be sent out this week. I'm thinking Dec. 21st, after the interviews on the 17th take place.

I was under the impression that they usually send out three batches.

It would make more sense for them to send out the second batch this week or next, in order to see how many people accept or turn them down.

Otherwise, if they don't give out the second batch untill after the 21st, they have less than two weeks to send out two batches. As an applicant you have two weeks to decide whether to accept or reject a prematch offer, so they would be pressed for time if they wanted to send out a third batch.

Hey Guyz, is anyone else interviewing here this Thursday? I am excited and nervous. I really want to do well at this interview. For those who have already interviewed here, do yall have any tips? How were interviews, laid back or question based? (A lot of ethical or health care questions?) Thanks

Good luck to you all 👍👍👍

Very laid back, both interviewers (Temple). I think I was only asked one health care question, and since I work in healthcare I rambled on for awhile. Otherwise it was so laid back, I actually should not of stayed up late the night before researching random things.

But keep in mind that they're not necessarily dependent on whether that second batch accepts or rejects their offers. They send out acceptances like this every year, so they pretty much have it down to an exact science on predicting how many students will accept their pre-match offers, how many will reject, which applicants probably will have more than one offer, etc. So they could easily send the second batch on the 21st, and then simply send another batch a week later. Or, they might only send two batches, who knows.

But after that, they can finely tune their class size to the exact number of students they want through the match and waitlist, and therefore have a final class size of exactly 150 students. Obviously, I'm not sure about December 21st, I was just thinking that based on what some one from admissions told me when I called them.

Also, on the statistics sheet that they gave to us at the interview, it says that 128 applicants were matched on Feb. 1st (this includes pre-match offers), and that the mariculating class size was 150. Does that mean that 22 applicants were accepted from the waitlist?

That's the first time I noticed that 128 number.

Right below it on the stats sheet are the numbers for M.D./Ph.D. applicants, so perhaps some of those 22 includes them? I'm not sure if M.D./Ph.D. applicants use the match or not...

Yeah, exactly, I was wondering if MD/PhD students, JAMP students, and PPC students were included in that figure (13 total from these 3 categories). If not, 22 acceptances from the waitlist is quite a few.
