I'M IN!!!!!!!!! Just got the acceptance letter in the mail.
Congratulations! Do you know where the letter was addressed from and the date it was sent?
It was addressed from the UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program. Post marked Jan 27. A standard envelope with a single letter inside.
Oooh! Congratulations! 🙂 Where do you live!? If I don't have mine by now, does it mean I have to wait.. forever? lol.. 🙁👎
Accepted today! Got the letter in the mail just now. I wish everyone else who's waiting the best of luck.
Wow! Congratulations 🙂 Your post made me run to my mailbox. Sadly, mine is empty.😳
How far do you guys live from the school? Oh man.. i want one of those tiny little envelopes so badly and I don't think USPS takes that long to process a mail if it was sent on the 27th

Thank you! My permanent address is about 1.5 hours west of Riverside. There are only two SDNers with acceptances so far, so hopefully you'll be getting a letter soon. Best of luck!

Thanks New09! 🙂 I live much closer to Riverside than you do, so I think I might not be in this batch of acceptances. But thank you for your kind wishes. I sure would love to get a letter soon! 🙂

Lol agreed.
Have there been any interviews lately (in march)? Cuz if so then that prolly means there are still some seats left...Does anybody know how many spots are filled? I hope they are taking their sweet time in filling the class...
oh and to CHOCOMOO... idk this year, but according to a previous post in this thread last year had ~120 applicants, ~60 interviewed, 24 accepted

I have heard that around at least 6-8 people have gotten in. Does ANYONE know whats going on with biomed? I know a lot of people just lurk around the thread n bounce... come on people lets start talking.
Has anyone heard when the adcom is meeting next or when they are sending the next round of acceptances/rejections?
my sources agree that they met on wednesday. hopefully something comes tomorrow or monday. Thursday was a furlough day and today a campus holiday, may have delayed things.
hopefully us SDNers get in this week. PLEASE GOD!!

any good news anyone?
Hey guys! Hope all is well and you aren't dying from the wait...though I am...
All this info is from Margie in early March (I haven't talked to her/anyone since then though) Italicized stuff is my speculation 😀
1. This year not as many people applied as last year (not sure how that affected how many interviews were given out).
2. Yes, in early March they were still giving away interviews (not just conducting but still giving out) 🙂
3. The committee will only meet 3 times this year (I didn't ask when but the previous person's post about it being last Wed. seems highly plausible). We know for sure they met end of January. Most likely end of Feb (does anyone know anyone that got acceptances then?) And probably the last meeting end of March, early April.
4. Some acceptances were already given out but there were still spaces left...(I didn't ask numbers)
5. Biomed is probably overworked this year with budget cuts; although no personnel losses in the department they have been forced to take paid vacations (they usually work during xmas break but this year they had to take it off) and unpaid days off (furloughs). Still same amount of work as last year but they don't have as much time. In addition, as UCR prepares for their own new med school I know biomed department has to do some work for that. It's killing us that we don't know yet but I know the department is overworked right now (and they for sure want to give us info) so just be more patient [easier said than done right?]. 😉
6. As the program is still part of UCLA (and of AAMC) they have deadlines they have to meet. AAMC recommends by March 30 that schools have sent out acceptances to at least equal amount of seats available (they must also report this to AAMC) (haider only gives out 24, and will not give out more acceptances unless someone gives up their spot). I do believe that they must also adhere to the fact that accepted students must make a deposit by April 15. Since Margie said that the process of adcom meeting up hasn't changed since last year i'm assuming that all final decisions were made in the past meeting (March 24 from previous poster). And so everyone who hasn't heard will be hearing very soon! If they met wed -- it's an all day thing, and I am not sure if they meet at UCR or UCLA -- and thursday was furlough and friday was campus holiday, most likely letters will be sent out today or tomorrow (March 30)!!
Good Luck

AND... whatupron!?

One friend friend got in today. I will be waiting by the mailbox tomorrow.
do the letters come to your Riverside area address or your home address? and is that the ONLY way to find out????
good luck everyone!
good luck everyone!

which ever one you listed as your permanent on your secondary i believe.
I am not sure if this means that the class is full but there is a class party set up for accepted students on April 16. I think it is somewhat of an orientation and meet and greet thing. What that implies about available seats I'm am not sure.
Have they sent this information about the April 16 orientation to the accepted students? All I know is the recruitment day being held on April 10.
No, Margie told me over the phone to keep that date saved specifically for the ucr recruitment day. I imagine we will get an email invitation soon.Have they sent this information about the April 16 orientation to the accepted students? All I know is the recruitment day being held on April 10.
TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH I got the letter!!!!!
God , God, and God!
Whats with the info for the orientation? I didnt get anything bout april 10th or april 16th.

It looks like most socal people got their letters yesterday and my friend from norcal got hers today. I don't know if they send out rejections or waitlist notifications though.

How many people have gotten in? Has everyone received their letter by now? I hate waiting 😡
Ya, I don't know for sure but I'm pretty confident that all 24 acceptances were sent out. If you haven't heard it means you are waitlisted/rejected. 🙁 🙁 I'm sorry. 🙁 You should have gotten a message from AAMC today telling you about the process and their recommendations for schools and applicants (it says by March 30 they should have sent out enough acceptances for at least the number of spots available).
According to last year it was silent, no waitlist/rejection letters were sent out. 🙁 🙁
I don't mean to be harsh or rude but you should take it as a rejection because realistically speaking, ~2 people get in on waitlist per year, so I wouldn't count on that. Not to mention they usually don't get in until right near school starts. I suggest that you start preparing for the next application cycle. Ask biomed/your interviewers/dean of UCLA if they are willing to look over your application to see where you could improve/problems area. I think biomed is your best shot, they will let you make an appointment with Dr. Luben to discuss your application (though I hear he is a numbers man). Or go ahead and e-mail Dr. Luben, he is on the adcom committee. Go to the Haider page I'm sure it mentions who are on the adcom committee and ask them if they'll look over your app and help you out. They are nice people..well the ones i've met anyways..
Just be extremely happy that you've gotten this far in the Haider program, my friends tell me its harder to get into than actual UCLA! Seriously be happy you've got an interview and if it doesn't work out this year, make sure you have something great to put on your app for the next cycle and you'll get an interview again. 🙂
Or hopefully you've gotten acceptances elsewhere! 🙂
GOOD LUCK.

"I'm on an emotional ride of some sort!"
Lol, this is to contribute to the said 3-page, alanmore 🙂.
I called biomed yesterday and Margie told me not all the letters have been mailed out yet and were being staggered. I cant decide if checking this thread every day is making me feel better or worse.
Thanks for checking up alamore!! 🙂 That's really wierd that they would stagger it esp. if it has orientation info that is 10 days away! And whats with the wait? Haven't we suffered enough!? Not to mention from the looks of other from other school threads + the aamc message I thought March 30 they had to have sent out acceptances? Gah this process is frustrating. 😕😡
Good Luck everyone! 😀
But it is encouraging to know that not all acceptances have been sent out. Plus it seems by my count and people i know we all know a total of like 10 that have been accepted.
If I hear anything from med students plus biomed department i'll let u know! I was basing most of my facts off Margie saying the acceptance process would be the same as last year and the info I got from last year applicants! sorry if I worried/tore anyone down! Didn't meant to, just trying to help out 😛
I'm not superstitious but something tells me that if this thread gets to page 3 my prayers will be answered.![]()

Also, I was one of the LATE interviews (mid March). Did anyone from the later interview cohorts hear anything, positive or otherwise?
How late did you interview? My friend interviewed mid march (both interviews around the 12th) and has gotten in. But I guess with the staggering we don't know when we'll here, how and why do they stagger!? I don't understand! 😡
but good luck!!

Nonono don't apologize, what you said is about as much as we all know anyways. New things popup all the time 😀
Anyways I spoke to Margie Wednesday around 2:00 and she said that the class was NOT yet full + not all acceptances have been mailed out yet + theyre dripping out the letters. Who knows what that means though - "not all" might mean theres solid openings left OR she might be thinking ahead for the 1-3 waitlist spots that open when accepted students drop it for greener pastures. I was too jittery to confirm this and I took whatever ounce of hope I could from the convo.
*I* think its safe to say that by the end of the week if we haven't received anything we're relegated to waitlist or rejection status (both of which I'm very familiar with -_-).
Edit: Also I interviewed on the 3rd and 10th so I suppose I'm screwed. Contingency plans: ON!
