Really not sure about the actual numbers. But on my interview day they mentioned that once you received your interview invite as a non-WWAMI applicant, you essentially passed that big hurdle and were on even footing with the rest of the applicants...about a 1/3 acceptance rate post-interview for both IR and OOR. At least, that's what I wanted to hear...I think that's what she said!

that sounds right to me!

Hmmm....seriously, it's Friday at 5pm at no one has received any notification at all?? It's going to be a long weekend...

seems like it. i guess on the bright side, there haven't been any rejection emails either 🙄

the nice thing about the weekend is that you know they won't call...so maybe we can all relax for a little bit

I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Received a call from my interviewer today (on a Sunday!!!) congratulating me!!!!! Interview was 11/9. YAY!!!

Now I'm even more anxious! Praying for some good news tomorrow...It's been two weeks since their last status email to me...

Just got an email saying that I had passed screening and should be getting an interview invite soon for the week of Feb 22nd (AK resident)! Can't wait to get it scheduled!

I'm getting really frustrated with the waiting game, especially because UW is my top choice...
According to my laptop, this is my 42nd visit to this page today

:boom:

I got a phone call from my excom member and I got an acceptance email today! Couldn't be more excited, and it's definitely something to be thankful for going into Thanksgiving break!

I hope this post propogates some more good news!

Congrats! Go celebrate! 🙂

Breathe a sigh of relief if you haven't gotten rejected yet...cuz rejection emails went out today...got mine at 3pm. Fell into that infamous "not ready" category...yeesh...I'm 25..when am I gonna be ready?

Since accepted and rejected people have posted, let me represent the third and final category:
Received the "Under Consideration" email.
Again.

Good thing? Bad thing? We'll find out eventually...:xf:

dont worry, i think we interviewed together. you are definitely ready from what i can tell and im sure youll get into a school this year. good luck!

Also in the "Still Under Consideration" category. I'm optimistic and somewhat relieved that it wasn't a rejection... but it's potentially a very long wait (April 2010 being the latest) until a final decision.

Does anyone have advice / experience with sending update letters to UW? They suggest to "update us concerning significant activities that you have undertaken since your interview."

Definitely a good thing. If the admissions process were a reality show, you'd still be "On the island". Sending positive vibes your way! :luck:

Anyone else get a rejection without a reason? Kind of confused on what I need to improve...

They may not initially give you a reason for rejection, but you are able to meet with the dean or assistant dean over the summer. They can go over your application with you and the notes that your interviewer(s) made about you, and tell you what needs improvement. I'd highly recommend meeting with them and doing what they tell you to do. This also helps show your level of commitment. Be persistent!

I was a reapplicant and I found out exactly what I needed to do. In my case, it was lack of clinical experience, so I loaded up on shadowing physicians, surgeons, volunteering in the ER, and I became a nursing assistant. Of course, I continued to do lots of things outside of the medical arena too. At my second interview they asked A LOT of questions regarding what I did to improve my application since my first interview.

I was a re-applicant too and they told me the same thing, so I also gained a lot of clinical experience. Maybe they're just not that into me...

It seems that there are quite a few re-applicants for the UW, in fact I have heard that much of the incoming class are re-applicants. Hopefully, I am one of them as well...😉 Growing older/wiser must account for something...

QuestionGuy: If you did all they asked of you at least you can rest assured knowing you did all you could...not the same as being admitted, I know. It's a huge numbers game, as with any school: thousands of applications, limited seats...nature of the game, I suppose. Keep on keepin' on!

This forum always makes me feel better...it's nice to know there's lots of people out there persevering through multiple cycles. I'm definitely growing older...I don't know about wiser, haha 🙂 But here's to not giving up!

Amen to that, Taco sister! Diligence has to pay off eventually, right?

Any Montana resies get interviews yet?

And wow you guys are super inspirational. It's really hard to walk through this process without going through some ups and downs. But if I have gained anything from reading your comments it's to keep your head held high and stay positive! Honestly, that's what medicine needs.

hey guys, just so you know- I student on the adcom said the E-08 class was approx 40% reapplicants. Don't know the numbers for my class

I am emotionally ready for an acceptance. From any medical school. BUT PREFERABLY UW!:bang:

Hey, have any Wyoming applicants been assigned interview dates yet? I received my notification that I was on the interview list and would be contacted soon, but that was a couple weeks ago...
Thanks!

Well I sent them an update last night and rejected pre-interview this afternoon.

Ok....I couldn't resist...

I'm not a big SDN-er (as is evident with my whooping 5 posts), but Facebook is much more universal and i figured it is a great way to start getting to know who is in our class!!!

Those of you who have been accepted, here's the link:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=221527573832&ref=search&sid=1228272.1904049843..1
or just search "UWSOM 2014"

Those of you still waiting, hang in there!!!! Its still early 🙂

Hey everyone!

Congrats for those who got in!

Any idea if UWSOM sends confirmation emails when they receive update letters?

I'd say doubtful. Because its not something everyone does and its not something required of you or necessary for review, so I would say maybe wait due time for mail to process and then call them?

Does anyone know when the next excom meeting will be?

I asked Stella this on my interview day (11/19) and she said that this year they are not giving out specific excom meeting dates. However, she DID say that there had just been an excom meeting recently, and they meet about every 2-3 weeks... Hope that helps!

Actually, I think that's just what they tell everyone. In truth I think they may have one every week! When I interviewed I asked the same question and got the "2-3 week" reply, but then some people I interviewed with got accepted that same week...

Oooh I see... that's sneaky. I'd prefer that they meet more often though, so I hope you're right!

They dont have them every week. They used to give out a calendar to interviewees with the excom dates on it, but I think they were tired of getting our crazy phone calls....if you wan't to get an idea of excom schedule, I would check last year's thread. I think there is a link to the old excom calendar.

:soexcited: JUST GOT THE ACCEPTANCE PHONE CALL!!! Interviewed YESTERDAY!!!! What a truly Happy Thanksgiving!!! This is unbelievable! Someone pinch me! :soexcited:

Congrats!!!! make sure to join the FB group 🙂

Wow. Not much happening in UWSOM-land, eh? Been awfully quiet here for awhile...hopefully that's a good omen.😴

I interviewed on 11/19 and I called Stella yesterday to ask for an update. She said I probably still had a 'few more weeks' to wait until a decision was made... :scared:
