Right there with you, teenmachinery. A simple "nice try, but no cigar" would have been preferable to the waiting game. Keep me posted if you get an interview invite, and I'll do the same.

Will do.

Waiting Sucks. I think I'll take up drug abuse. 😴

I submitted my application mid October and heard back for an interview 12/18. I am from a WWAMI state though. I think my application is handled by a different admissions committee.

teenmachinery- got the interview invite email a couple of days ago; hope you got the same, or it's on its way...

Keep on keepin' on!

Le sigh. I'm going to have to detox from my e-mail after this process is over.

Were you complete around 11/3ish? After, before..

🙁

I was complete right around 11/3, maybe a couple days after...
Good luck...

Did any northern Idaho residents get an interview in January? I know that there's a second round of Idaho res. interviews, but I am trying to figure out if I didn't get one in the first round because of my geographical location or because I don't have as good an application.

Haha I just signed up so I could post this. But, I submitted my secondary 11/9 and was freaking out over break. I called admissions this morning and she said that it had just been processed and I was going to be sent an invite in the next couple of days. She told me to call back by the end of the week if I hadn't heard back in case there was a glitch.

Hope the information is useful, and for those waiting - hang in there!

crap..

you submitted 11/9 and you'll get an invite soon.

I was complete at 11/3 and I'm gonna get the axe.

interview invite 😎

anyone know how filled the class is?

Congratulations! When's your interview? I have no clue how filled the class is.

I'd imagine not that full since non-Washington WWAMI people are about to start their interview season.

Congratulations! Not sure how filled the class is, but there are still quite a few interviews left to go through, so probably not too filled...

Keep hope alive!

My int. is set for the end of this month so not bad...

:luck:

Anyone know how long it usually takes to hear back after the interview regarding the committees decision? Does the length depend on acceptance v. rejection? Thanks in advance.

I was rejected last year within about 2 or 3 weeks

Are you a Washington resident, or non-Washington WWAMI resident, teenmachinery?

I'm a WA resident.

Did those of you who interviewed look at the bioethics website?

It's pretty elaborate. Did you guys go through them all?

thanks!

I think I looked at a lot of it, just to get myself thinking about the issues. Personally, I only got one really ethical question though so it's not really something to spend too much time on. Most of the interview was spent on my application, plans for the future and perspective on medicine. Also, I had heard stories that the interview was going to be really intense with 3 people grilling you, etc, etc. While there are 3 interviewers, you all sit around a table, and for me it was a fairly relaxed conversation. So don't go into it freaking out like I did 🙂

I remember in November, people were talking about getting calls the next day. I was rejected within a week (e-mail makes everything faster...)

I went through every single one of them, trying to memorize the "right" response to each type of situation and reasoning through why it would be right.

Biggest waste of time ever.

Seriously, all you're going to need for the interview re: ethics/policy questions is an opinion on the issues (that you can defend), common sense, and a conscience. Put them together and you should be golden.

When did you interview, and how long after interview until you got your acceptance notice?

Any idea on MCAT/GPA, etc. profiles of those accepted by UW so far?

I interviewed early Nov. on a Friday, accepted the following Monday. I think a bunch of people wind up in the "Under consideration" group and end up finding out relatively late, so no need to worry for those still waiting for an answer.

GPA and MCAT: All over the place probably. Think they said ~60% of the class comes from the sub 3.5/30 group, so all over the place probably.

Hmmm. An acquaintance with MCAT 39 and very high GPA got rejected, but he's 21 and a senior at UW. Presumably, his interview was OK, as he seems personable.

Perhaps age and life experience are such a priority that UWSOM wants applicants like him to live and experience a more of life before admission. At least, that's what I've heard from one or two docs on the faculty. Perhaps he and others like him should re-apply in a year or two, with substantially more clinical job shadow and real life in the meantime.

It's impossible to know, really, one of my friends got rejected @ UW, but got into Case and Vermont. I do know that there's a strict, although implicit, requirement regarding shadowing (i.e no shadowing, no interview), and that consistency is a big deal too (Shadowing/research/volunteering in ortho + spouting off about your love for primary care = bad times).

look like I got this right... my interests have a lot of consistency and overlap.

I have my int. coming up, :luck:

and I'm WA resident btw.

Good luck to you tm1, you'll do great. The interview was much less stressful than I expected it to be.

Did anyone else get another Still Under Consideration email this morning? It says: "If you have any questions or concerns in the next few months, please feel free to contact our office." Do you think this means nothing will happen until final excom?

I just found out this morning that I am on hold, but I'm guessing the emails are pretty similar. I'm guessing it probably will be closer to March or April before people start hearing as the excom sees how the class is shaping up. Maybe not the very last meeting but it will probably be a while unfortunately.

I have received several of the still under consideration e-mails since my interview back in October (including one this morning). Have they actually rejected people from the still under consideration pool?

My interview was 2 weeks ago and I just got the still under consideration email.

Here's the good news/bad news, at least as I see it. In years past, those "still under consideration" typically didn't hear anything until the final EXCOM meeting. So, bad news is, more waiting. I have heard that this year they are much more stringent in selecting applicants to interview, meaning that if you've had your interview and are "still under consideration", well that's a good thing even better than in the past. I think they also have less "consideration" spots than in years past, as lots of applicants understandably get tired of waiting, so your potential odds of ending up accepted may be greater. Keep hope alive!🙂

I like the way you think and I totally agree. I've heard the same thing about greater selectivity for interviews this year; and considering that they accepted 40 people off the waitlist last year, I think there is every reason to be hopeful. :luck:

I got the call today...caught me out of nowhere. I had been placed in the "still under consideration" group about a month ago. This was my 3rd (and final) attempt in the last 4 years. Good luck to the rest of you. It's a crazy process, but stick to it and things will work out.

Congratulations!!!

I interviewed in late October and received the 'Still Under Consideration' Email today, so the waiting continues!!!

Congrats DarkSide. Thank you for inspiring your fellow "3rd try" applicants. If nothing else, three tries definitely shows dedication...

Congrats, DarkSideMoon!!! 🙂

Did you send a letter of intent, letter of updated activities, or updated transcripts?

I recently sent an update letter detailing a recent position change at work and of course that I am interested in attending UW. No updated transcripts as I have been out of school for a few years.

So I've been monitoring this forum for a while now, but this is my first post. I just wanted to provide a timeline update for any Idaho or WWAMI students out there who have interviewed or are waiting for the second round of interviews. I completed my secondary application on Nov. 9, was invited for an interview on Dec. 6, interviewed on Jan. 4 (regional), and was accepted on Jan. 8.

I have a friend who is still waiting to hear if he gets a March interview (for Idaho residents), and thought this might be helpful for some folks out there! Good luck, everybody!

Congrats! Good to know! I am an Alaska resident so we only do one round of interviewing but does anyone know if it is typically that fast of a turn around after the interviews with acceptances for Alaska residents?

fuzz052, where are you from in Idaho? I submitted my secondary app. at the end of August and I live in Moscow and am wondering if at least part of the reason that I didn't get an interview in January was because they gave those ones to people in southern Idaho.

I'm from Boise originally, but I actually live in Moscow as well! I used my Moscow address as my permanent address on the AMCAS, and the Boise address as the alternate. I've wondered myself how they decide who to interview in January and who in March, and date of submittal apparently doesn't have much to do with it...😕

Did you get all your secondary info in? I have a friend here who spent a couple days talking with admissions after submitting his secondary because something was awry, but I'm not sure if that was his fault or theirs. Either way, it couldn't hurt to contact them and make sure they have everything they need.

congrats darkside... that's super-human persistence.

👍

any more updates from anyone in the competitive pool?

This waiting period is grueling!

Is there anyone who completed on mid-December already received their interview invite?

Anybody from the Jan. 11th interview hear anything back yet?

I was complete mid-december, still waiting :xf:

OK, that is so nice to know. I guess we just have to wait then. I wonder how long it will take them to process our apps, considering most of the applicants had submitted earlier than us (late applicants). 🙂

From what I've gathered, seems to take about 2 months between submitting the secondary and receiving an interview invite. Of course, as the season winds down, this may get quicker.👍
