WA resident, interviewed 1/19, just got the rejection email today so i guess they are meeting for in-state now, but best of luck to the rest of you!

Rejected too. Third time not a charm. Still in shock...all that work, perseverance down the drain. Not sure what else to say. Good luck I suppose to the rest of you, maybe luck works better than effort.

Sorry man, that sucks. Try not to take it personally though, there are other ways to practice medicine than gaining acceptance into the UW. I'm sure your a terrific applicant, the dice just didn't roll your way. There is definitely nothing down the drain though, everything up to the end is progress.

Has anyone had their regional interview in Spokane yet, and if so, how'd it go? I have mine in a couple of days and am curious if its going to be different from the 'typical' UW intervew, or if they're planning on focusing more heavily on rural/underserved familiarity/questions... it should be interesting!

Yeah, second the comment above, that really blows. I think if someone has the perserverance to go through three cycles of this BS, they should get an acceptance, and a scholarship and a freakin medal on top of it.

Looking at a schedule that was "left laying around," the next Excom mtg isn't until Feb 16. Final Excom mtgs are March 23-25.

Will in-state interviewees be reviewed in the Feb meeting? If you are 'under consideration' do you come up at each meeting or are you pushed back till final excom? Thanks!

I don't know about the competitive pool. I was just sent the "congratulations" a few days after my interview....so probably the latter.

I am almost positive that people in the "under consideration" group are pushed back until the final excom meeting. However, that said, I think if you said an update letter they may reconsider you in an earlier meeting. There was one SDNer this year so far that was accepted that way (out of the competitive pool). But at this point, since they are kinda focusing on WAMI states, they may just wait on the rest of us until the end of March.

I am hoping maybe they start reconsidering people before then, but who knows...

Yes, I was accepted from the competitive pool about 5 days after sending a letter of intent/interest. I am also willing to help out those of you still waiting, just get in touch. It is a lot of luck, but I can at least tell you what I did.

The next dates for MT WWAMI interviews is March 8-11. Thus, the next excom meeting will probably be March 12th, with e-mails coming out around March 15th.

I had my PI submit a request for reconsideration and was offered an interview! I'm OOS so it's a long-shot but does anyone know my chances being OOS, and interviewing so late in the game? (don't have the date yet, but was just emailed that they will be emailing me within a week to schedule an interview).

I'm interviewing on March 15th. my app was accepted on the deadline because the residency paperwork hadn't been received by the UW residency classification office in time...

Anyway, I'm not getting super excited as the the chances of getting in look pretty grim especially with such a late interview...but Ive got my fingers crossed...

Best of luck to those interviewing on March 15. You may be interested to know that UW is very slow at filling class seats, and in years past scarcely half the class has been filled by the middle of March. You need not beware the ides of March.

As for status updates, it seems that there has not yet been an accurate estimate for when the next update will come. This is pure speculation, but I got my first update on Monday Feb. 8, so assuming Excom meets every two weeks maybe there will be a new update this Monday. Just wishful thinking at this point I suppose.

In case you haven't heard, Montana Board of Regents is proposing cutting the WWAMI seats from 20 to 18 THIS YEAR.... Yep, they're at it again! 😡

If you care, contact the MT board of Regents or we will lose 2 of our precious 20 seats.

Forgive me for being a nervous nelly, but I'll pose this anyway.

I had an interview on Thursday 2/18 and I think that it went well🙂.
What I've read from this thread is that the turnaround time is quick for the extremes and more labored for those "lukewarm" type.

Based on the math, if I was either really well-liked or really not, would I be expecting to hear back this week? If anyone has any experiences themselves from interviewing on a Thursday and then hearing back soon, let me know your story, if you please.

Congrats on your interview going well. I wanted to tell you how the process has gone for me so far.

I interviewed on Tuesday, Feb. 2, and received a "still under consideration" email on Monday Feb. 8 at 5pm. I'm an in-state applicant, and I hear that UW gets back to IS applicants faster than OOS applicants.

As to whether a quick reply from UW has any bearing on how they view you as an applicant, I am doubtful. For instance, if you are borderline between being put in the competitive pool and outright acceptance it may take longer to determine your status than if you solidly in the competitive pool range.

UW is notoriously slow at getting back to applicants because they very carefully consider each applicant several times before offering admission. Because of this, very few students are offered acceptance before the end of interview season, which is fortunate for late interviewees like us.

I hope you hear good news soon, but don't look into it too much if it takes longer than you would expect.

I have an interview tomorrow too! I am not really sure what to know about AK-specific health policy questions! have done some research about Alaska Native health care but I am worried they will ask me some obscure question!

Recently, however, they have taken steps to make the interview process more enjoyable for the candidate. Most of the people I have talked to, myself included, found the interview to be quite cordial.

You will need to know a little about health care reform, but they wont be asking you for a lot of detail. They asked me about what I thought were the two biggest obstacles to health care reform. If you are out of state, you may want to know a little about health care in your state but even that seems unlikely to come up this year.

Good luck, I think you will enjoy the whole experience.

A lot of people here have said that the interviews at UW are becoming more cordial. I believe that is true but my interview experiences have not been like that. In both cases, my interviewers were quite cold and disinterested from the beginning with the second time being the worst. Best of the luck to the rest!

If you feel that someone was inappropriate during the interview, please contact us to request a re-interview. Most of the time, if there's been a divergence in their opinion in the interview, you will be contacted for a re-interview.

The Executive Committee of the Admissions Committee at the University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) has completed its review of your application to the TRUST Program. This program was very competitive and there were only 5 positions available.

Although you have not been accepted to the TRUST Program, you continue to be under consideration for the regular medical school class. You may expect a definite decision regarding the final status of your application to the entering class of 2010 no later than the end of March.
If you are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate courses, please submit a grade report of your additional grades. If you are accepted you will be asked to submit official transcripts. Also, it would be helpful for you to update us concerning significant activities that you have undertaken since your interview.
