oh no interview invite for me (yet?) unfortunately. I'm so happy for everyone else that it must have seemed like I had an interview too! I just get unreasonably excited about people getting invites. :banana: Maybe I'm just channeling all of my jealousy into enthusiasm? :biglove:
 
Rejected today, via email. Also got the Vanderbilt letter in the mail at about the same time. It has been a pretty crappy day all around.

Wow man, sorry to hear that. Three weeks after complete seem to be pretty fatal for good news. Stay optimistic though, great places are waiting for you...🙂

Unless your ECs are exceptionally bad I have to think that they rejected you knowing that you will get in somewhere 'better'. Or maybe that's just me hoping that's the case because I would like to get into BU and don't have a 4.0 and 40q 🙂
 
So, "finalizing" is all you have to do to submit the application, yes? There's not "submit" button or anything?

Just seemed anticlimactic...Also, I submitted several days ago and did not receive a "complete" email. I know it says to give it 10 days, but figured I'd double check.

I hope so too - but if that's actually true then I'd be very surprised. I've heard rumors that med schools reject applicants they think will end up at a "better" school but I never actually believed them to be true.

And my ECs are certainly not exceptionally bad. I'm sure they're not up to "Harvard standards" but at the absolute worst I'd say they're average.

I applied to Harvard so we'll see. I definitely would've been much less surprised with a straight out rejection from Harvard than BU but oh well...
 
Only 4 more days till I'm over the "30 day after completion cut" ... hope they rejection system takes a break for a while :xf:

Hey Bill, that is not a rumor, but the actual truth. Some schools, like Tufts, have a big problem with it (and I am not surprise about BU). People with high stats wanting to stay in Boston apply to all area schools and if Harvard calls.....guess what?

In student circles is called "Tufts Syndrome" = You are too good, you think we are your safety and you will get into Harvard...so... we reject you.
 
Rejected this morning. Complete 8/14.

I think they specifically met on Labor day to laugh at my 3.5 GPA. I'm glad I provided some comic relief 😛.

Just got the "its been longer than 30 days" email. Hopefully that mean I got past the first cut.

Lmao!.. but in all fairness I'm sure you were considered thoroughly...if you legitimately thought you had a chance at BU with a 3.5 GPA you must have been pretty good in other parts of your application..good luck elsewhere!:luck:
 
to clarify-- has anyone with that 30 days complete email been rejected yet? I dont want to be too optimistic about getting an interview just yet haha

Yup, the competitive part of my application is known as self-delusion.
 
Got rejection email today 🙁. 3.6 and 30, I thought they'd at least consider me. Hopefully other schools don't reject this quickly (or at all lol). Good luck to everyone else!

To be fair there are people getting rejected from all GPA and MCAT ranges on here and not just average scorers but people who have the numbers for WashU, harvard, and Hopkins.

So I'm sure its not you and just the volume of applications they get that also is part of it.

Lol, I think some people think they are entitled to interview/acceptance just because they have a 41S MCAT and 4.00 GPA. I would hope schools value a whole application outside of these two measures. I guess if it makes you feel better after a rejection to say you got "Tufted"...

I think you are a little off with your comment and doubt anyone here is anything but humble about this whole process. The measures that the schools value the MOST are those two parameters, otherwise, admission would not be so competitive. And guess what, lower tier schools have lower GPAs and MCAT averages...and I don't think it is because those students have more compassion and dedication than the rest of the applicants. They just have lower academic credentials..regardless of the wholesome applications.

So, yea your fictitious 41S, 4.00 applicant could very well be "tufted" under some circumstances.

+1 (IS/31Q/3.68/strong ECs)... just make it past the 3 week mark and you might get an interview!

Dude, +1 means that he is posting the same thing as the person above, so he got rejected! The poster is suggesting that if you make it past the 3 week period, you may get interviewed because people are getting rejected just at the 3 week mark..

P.S. Reading SDN is making me look like a stalker. I feel like I know many of you guys personally ...
 
I was complete on 8/20 so my 3 week mark is in two days.. Fingers crossed, I hope i make it past that stage. It seems that after 3 weeks there is a good chance of getting an interview. Good luck to everyone!

I wouldnt either, but this is different ! Applying to medical school is a gamble and I am willing to take whatever hand I get if it means an interview.

yeah...my bad, i thought that's what +1 meant, but i then I (wrongly) assumed that the rest of his comment suggested that he got to the 3 week mark and got an interview. sorry, cyguy! i think i was just hopeful that BU was giving out more interviews so i misconstrued the comment to my liking haha =) good luck to everyone!

I meant that in any OTHER circumstance, 1/7 is not "good odds". :laugh: Ahh, what we suffer for med school.
 
How do we know that 7500 applicants survive the first wave of rejections?
 
It might seem like a weird question, but for those who received rejections notices, what time was it received? The only reason I am asking is because today is my three week mark and so far I havent received anything so :xf: I dont know whether that means I have a chance or its just because they have server maintainance.
 
Rejected today. Kind of expected it but it still sucks! Complete 8/20. :luck: to everyone else!
