haha yeah, expecting mine in 3 days. in a strange way even a rejection would be nice, just to hear SOMETHING from schools.

got the interview invite today after receiving the 30-day email a few weeks ago

Oh man, I got the 30-day email on Aug 12!! I want an interview too!!!!! 😛

It might be a bit too soon to say, but it seems that your invite could very well mean that I've been rejected, since I was complete on the same day, and they send out invites in order of completion, not strength of candidacy.

Now's it's possible that there were 100 applicants that completed that day and they haven't gotten to me yet, but at this point, a rejection is a real possibility. Just when I thought I stand a real chance of going to med school in my home state. 🙁
 
(a) It probably is too soon to say, and (b) you could go back to your home state for residency; it would probably benefit your career to see how the system works elsewhere and take that knowledge back to your home state.

Does anyone know when BU conducts interviews (which days of the week)?

almost peed my pants when i saw the email. good mcat. non-trad gpa situation.

Have you tried logging into the BU website? If you got an interview, the option to book an interview should be open. I'm saying this because... your invite might have ended up in the spam folder and deleted.
 
ooooh boy, today's my 3 week day... looks like I survived haha. my application is very mediocre though, expecting a rejection any time

i'm in the exact same spot. complete on 8/23, waiting to be rejected this week. the fact that i'm 31R, 3.6 sgpa gives me little to no hope based on everyone else with super stats getting rejected.
 
im pretty sure boston rejects based on whether your stats are too low, or too good but not that good.

by that i mean 20s mcat, very low gpa. or

35+ mcat and 3.7+ gpa!

however if you have 40+ mcat and 4.0 gpa they might offer you an interview.

Just guessing/observations =\

Rejected with a 35 and 3.5 👍
 
This may seem farfetched, but I got an email the other day from BU saying that one of my rec letter writers hadn't signed his letter and another one hadn't put it on official letterhead or signed it. I fixed it that day, but would anyone else take it as a good sign that they were interested enough to get me to fix the letters? I imagine if they didn't care, they would have just rejected me (but I also had no way of knowing the LORs had anything wrong with them as I still have never seen them).

I've been complete for a few days now that I fixed the errors immediately, however.

Yeah...I checked the status and I actually check my spam folder every day, even though I put a special med school filter on it. No dice. Oh well! At least they will give me the axe pretty soon so I won't have to sit in purgatory🙂

anyone know the numbers for how many of interviewed get accepted? didn't see it on their website.

Dang! With those stats I am sure you will have to choose a medical school by the end of the cycle. As for me, still haven't heard from Boston and it has been 1 day after the dreaded three-week mark.
 
i think they're just behind by a day or two now

Thanks for being sooo supportive all along! People like you two are what I find redeeming about SDN (I got so frustrated with SDN, I took a 3-weeks hiatus so that's saying a lot).

And now that I've gotten almost a handful of interviews, I definitely will not be as harsh on myself (i.e. thinking that I'm "reject" material). The time will be better spent practicing for interviews! ^_^.

If nothing has changed from last year I'm pretty sure its 3 days a week still.

On another note, does anyone find this strange on BU's part? In my 30-day email (which I received Sept 10), it clearly states "Applicants who are selected for interview are invited in chronological order by date of application completion, not by date of review." Just a few days ago, people had posted they had just received interviews and that they were complete on 7/15. But now Maverick gets an invite, and he was complete 8/23! Does that mean that none of us complete between 7/15 and 8/23 are going to get interviews? Or that BU was kidding when they said interview invites are in chronological order by date of app completion...? What do you think? 😕

Yeah, I was totally shocked to see the invite. The time-line suggested I should be getting a rejection if they contacted me. But it was an interview invite. I have no idea how they go about offering interviews and I don't think I am the most outstanding applicant they've seen. My stats are only slightly above average for BU. I do have a great community service project that I worked on for three years (implementing health IT at community clinics), but I don't think that would make Boston say "damn, that's who we want."

Basically, I don't know how this happened.
 
interview invite received 9/10! complete 7/13. 30 day email 8/12. OOS 33S 3.75. interview on 10/8, anyone???

is BU tough for oos applicants? i think i'm a strong candidate and have gotten invites from other tough med schools, so i was a little disappointed. oh well, i really loved BU but life goes on! congrats to all those who got invites!!

You may have gotten "tufted" (ahhh, the english language....) Congrats for those other great med schools and stay positive !!!
