Just got accepted off the MD waitlist! Wooooo! Need to see some numbers before I'll be able to make a decision, but its a very exciting option! 😀

I got the e-mail last week and still waiting, seems like it moves here and there depending on others' decision of not going to BU... I don't think we will hear anything unless they have a spot for us.

For me personally it was no need or academic merit based aid at all... and my family is not well off by any stretch of the imagination. The school seemed to calculate my expected family contribution to be much higher than other schools did.

I loooved BU. Realizing that I couldn't afford it was rough... but I'm also very happy with the offer I'm holding, so life goes on 🙂

sorry to hear that. But at least you have somewhere else that you will love equally. I've seen this happen with my cousin and a family friend too. Both loved the city of boston but couldn't justify the cost esp. when they had cheaper options closer to home.

But i'm sure you will do great at your other school. Good luck and congrats on finally getting off waitlists at places.

I wrote somewhat of a "diversity" essay for that section, and I also include some information about a few of my other passions (a few poetic lines). As long as you are sincere and it doesn't sound like entire bs relative to your application, I don't think it will hurt you.

I do believed this essay was read, and that it helped me get the interview. I'm still waitlisted at BU, and holding a seat at an instate school. However, if I get off the WL (yea right), I will most likely attend. The essay was not brought up in my interview however. There is just too much to talk about in only one hour.

Bottom line, if I were you, I'd write the essay. and do a good job of it. my stats are average+.

I wouldn't try to generate something to write in the space. Keep in mind someone, actually multiple people, will have to read whatever you write. Unless you have something honest/profound/relevant to put there and that you can not place anywhere else in your application, consider just leaving it blank. I left all optional sections blank in my BU application, and was accepted. The essays were not discussed in my interview, which I think you will find is more of a conversation than a review of your "file."

Thanks for the input - I will keep that in mind. I don't want to hold onto this application forever, that's for sure! 🙂 I'm not certain that I have much to add, anyways.
