so they told us at my interview last monday that they'd be meeting today to determine our fates....:scared: that means they could be looking at my application RIGHT THIS SECOND!

patience, deep breathing, etc....

Ahhh crazy... do you know when they will release decisions?? I think I am in the same batch as you, I interviewed only 3 days earlier on Friday!!

Show that you've given the decision to go to med school and come to Case some thought. Be reflective. 😉 We like reflective at Case.

Okay I hope I came across as reflective in my interviews... I mean, my personal statement was one giant reflection on the meaning of my life, and my secondary essay was one huge reflection on death and how I deal with it. But were my interviews reflective? Hmmm....

Bah, I should stop SDNing until the decisions are released, I am just giving myself hypertension 🙂

Okayy Myuu I want to practice this but I don't know what the wiggly dot thing means 🙁

The wiggly dot indicates the center of balance of whoever was on the Wii Balance Board at the time the video was recorded. It does that to make you aware of your posture while you do the exercise.🙂

They told us that there's always a bit of a lag between the time they make the decision on your app and the time it gets posted to iapply. You'll get the heart attack-inducing "your status has been updated" e-mail in 2-3 days, according to the admissions office.

Or you could compulsively refresh the status page until your head explodes. We all have our own ways of doing things.

Has CCLCM accepted anyone yet? Do we have the official dates for their batches?

Thanks

CCLCM doesn't make their first of three batches of acceptances until December, though you'll have to wait for CCLCMer or vc777777777777777777777 to get a more specific gauge on their timeline.

🙂

· CCLCM has not accepted anyone yet.
· The first round will go out Mid-December-ish.
· Last year, the first call went out on Dec 18th, IIRC.

lol'd at that. can you include that in your portfolio as evidence for the professional competency 😉

😍😍Case&CCLCM😍😍

You, know, I'm not really a fan of the second page, so...

...bump!!!

(Looks in admissions office.) Nope not right now. 😉

As (current or future) med students, we need to aspire to more than just not-beyond-page 1. Top 10 posts forever. Let's do it.

Do we dare risk it?? What if our posting overloads the server and the forums crash??! It's just TOO dangerous FlowRate. I refuse to take part in destroying the world!

We can do it. We have the technology. We have the will. We can make this thread harder, better, faster, stronger.

Okay. You sold me. Let's do it. 😎

CCLCM's first acceptance date isn't even until mid-December, with the other two acceptance dates being in January and February. Approximately 1/3 of the class is accepted on each of these three dates. So there WILL still be spots available, even for people who interview in February. Now, go back and read my previous post about taking a step back!

Thanks, super helpful, I was a little worried about getting a "late" interview in December, but it sounds like CCLCM takes their time!

Evergrey, may I be the first to congratulate you for breaking 1,000 posts?

Thanks! I had a very happy 1000th post too! Although sadly it did not happen in this thread.

<pops a champagne cork and pours for everyone> 😀

I failed my duty to keep this thread refreshed on the top page... Forgive me?
I'll think about it, but getting your 1000th post in another thread is really weighing against you.:meanie:

6,000,000 points to you, sir.

Rejected by CCLCM today pre-interview. 🙁
I'm sorry to hear that. When were you complete? I have been complete since July with no response.

I have a question. When a school, in this case cclcm, asks you to periodically call to check on your status (the lady on the phone said I should), how often is often enough to show interest but not to be bothersome? Like 2 or 3 weeks? Or do they mean monthly? Or is that just a nice way to say sit still and wait.

It was for a good cause, I promise!

Now I wait to hear good news about Case Western! :xf:I love this school!

Were you waiting for something special to merit that 1000th post? Because I noticed you were sitting at 999 for a while and it was really bothering me. 😀

Haha 😆 To be truthful, I didn't even notice I was at the brink! I should have paid more attention to my post count, but to be truthful I think I spend too much time here as it is rofl.

Pre-interview hold. 🙁

"Dear Mr. BaronVonZ:

The Admissions Committee has given your application to the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine a preliminary review and would like to hold it for future consideration for an interview. The Committee will revisit your application and notify you of a final decision no later than March 14, 2011. We thank you for your continued interest in our school."

Is that a complete kiss of death at Case Western or only a near-complete kiss of death? Does anyone actually come out of hold and go on to be admitted? I read earlier in the thread that being put on hold post-interview wasn't too terrible, but pre-interview? Poo.

i don't think so. this weekend, i found myself reading last year's thread, and it seemed as though people were accepted after being put on hold. my understanding is that it just means you're still in the thick of things. they like you too much to throw you away, but at the same time they want to see how things develop... both with you and the rest of their applicant pool. so keep them updated with any new, significant activities/achievements.

i could be totally wrong though. that's solely my impression from last year's thread.
:luck:

Evergrey, it is impossible to spend too much time here. ...Yeah.

😏

Haha 🙂

I am deliciously tempted to steal that picture and edit it into my 1000th post. But... I am above stealing. Or am I....

Alright, you've convinced me. I promise my 1500th post to the Case Western thread! Some question whether it's ethical to give away a post before it's even been born yet, but... I think I can live with myself.

Wow, now that's something to be proud of. Did you read War And Peace too 😀?

haha i didn't read alllll of it... yet. but i read enough for the time being 😎

i did see some familiar youtube videos. the star trek videos made me want to post the following for the people who either received good news or were waiting for it.

In fact, I feel as though I'm not spending enough time on here

😱 I am very impressed, I missed seeing that last year.

There's incentive in itself to check back on the Case page regularly. I had some serious catching up to do today, haha.

Did you doctor up all those photos? Those were awesome. I love the penguin and the kiwis.
I wish...I found a website that had an eggplant photoshop competition...I at first thought the kiwis were coconuts.

Well, not chopped... 😛

Wow, I know roughly where stuff is on the thread I helped create last year...and I still found it difficult to locate the great posts...

I am thinking of starting a treasure hunt! :meanie:

It is tradition to google your own x000 image fore only the x000th posts. X500th posts are of little significance. You've got 900+ posts to search for your own 2000th post image.:lame:

Well, not chopped... 😛
Queen of thread, eh?

Not going to find it unless someone posted it somewhere.

How could you have missed it! It's only the 20th post or so on the 103rd page of the thread...

Darn, in my hurry to update myself on old posts I had a habit of skipping the prime numbered pages :d

Wow, I could learn a thing or two from your level of organization. Could the second challenge be finding where I put my notes on cortisol metabolism? :smack:

I have a question that I would like you opinion on:

I had asked my boss for a general LOR when I applied on AMCAS, but I have recently learned that he went to Case Western for med school. Do you think it would be worth it to ask him to provide another, more "pointed" letter to CW in support of my application? I was hoping that his connection/affiliation with the school might hold more weight, and help move my app along. He is actually a very important/big name in my field of research.

I hate to interrupt, but--

Just got my acceptance! Interviewed last week.
