I hate to interrupt, but--

Just got my acceptance! Interviewed last week.

Accepted as well!!!!!!!!!! 😍:soexcited: Thanks for the tip, I did not get an e-mail notification!

This is awesome... I really liked it there at Case!!!! Back when I was deciding what schools to apply to, I told myself: Hmm maybe I should apply at CWRU, the kids on the Case thread are pretty nerdy I think maybe I will fit in. I guess I was right!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the acceptances 😀

I'm so excited (and terrified) to interview next week.

Any thoughts on what the best (i.e. combination of cheapest, easiest, and quickest) way to get from CWRU to the airport? I have a flight that leaves at 7pm-ish.

Good luck guys!! Case would have let you know either way if you've been put on hold or not, AFAIK, which is good news because that means they haven't released decisions for you yet! Keep the dream alive!!

Good luck on your interview, tr0gd0r!

I took the Rapid Transit from the airport to CWRU and back (I stayed with student hosts that lived close to campus). It's $2.25 each way, dirt cheap if you ask me. And it only takes 45 minutes each way. I would definitely recommend it to you! One caveat though -- it is HARD to see where to get off at if you are traveling toward the university at night. I had to ask several people to confirm where I was (and I definitely do not like asking strangers for directions when I'm from out-of-town and could easily be taken advantage of).

Traveling back to the airport at night is no problem though, because the airport is the last stop!

Just got put on hold...... I can't take anymore waiting!!!! Can I get an acceptance at any point until next May?

Fabulous. I'm coughing up the $25 to go directly from CLE to the guesthouse since I'll be arriving after dark, but the Rapid Transit sounds perfect for the ride back to the airport.

Accepted and invited to apply for scholarship!!! Woooooooo!

Woot congrats! I know you were crossing your fingers for this one!!! :soexcited: 😀 That's awesome about the invitation to apply for the scholarship as well, where do they say about that?

There's a little link on the iapply page right above the acceptance notification. Apparently there'll be more info come March.

Also, can I just do this:

And to those on hold: it's not the kiss of death from CWRU. They put a ton of awesome candidates on the hold list so as to not front-load acceptances. Good luck!

Ahh okay thanks! I don't see a link, I can guess what that means haha!

Btw has anyone gotten their acknowledgement page yet yet? It says:

iapply said:
Your “Accept Offer” action will trigger an “Acknowledgement of Acceptance Offer” letter to post on your iApply status page that contains additional information regarding your acceptance.

I definitely do not have that on my iapply yet.

Congratulations to all that were accepted!!!😀😀😀

For those of you on the waitlist, it is as others have said. Case leaves slots open until we get a better view of the applicant pool and to give later interviewees the shame shot at getting in.👍

While I can understand how you might get the nerdy vibe from the Case thread, hopefully you can also see that we don't take ourselves TOO seriously here. Case (haha!) in point.

Glad to hear it was worth the wait 🙂

For everyone else, the Rapid Transit is a good option both ways, just get off at the University Circle stop. And while you're in the airport you MUST stop by "Currito" to get a burrito. Best burrito I have ever had 👍.

Oooh, thanks for the tip...I will certainly need some dinner by the time I land.

Well put and spot on. If I didn't know better I might think that you've been a regular on these forums

After my interview I ended up riding the RTA to the airport with 3 other interviewees. Ask around, trogdor (burninating the countryside), there are probably others with a flight about the same time as yours. And having company makes all the waiting in the security line go by so much faster! 👍

Very true! In fact, after our interviews, one girl that I rode on the train with is now my anatomy lab partner 😛

Yeah, I think one of the things I loved about Case was how much people were playing. During the tour we walked by the 4th floor student lounge and everyone was chilling and playing Dr. Mario, ping pong, etc. There were even residents there playing with the students! That just seemed all sorts of awesomeness to me.

Obviously med school is gonna be a LOT of work, but it's nice to see that some people have a good balance between their work and personal lives!

You probably have answered this (or some iteration of this) 101 times already.

I am interviewing in the first week of December (2nd and 3rd) for UP and CP. Will this be too late to find out anything before the adcom goes on winter break?

More clearly, would I be considered in the first round for CP? And could I potentially get a decision back from UP before the holidays or will I have to face an extra few weeks of torture?

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Is there any timetable for when people with apps on hold can begin to hear about acceptances?

On hold as well, and also curious about when decisions might be made. Also- should I be sending a letter of interest at this point if I am extremely interested? Or, should I just sit back and wait to hear what they decide?

Is there any timetable for when people with apps on hold can begin to hear about acceptances?

At my interview they told us that they put apps on hold aside until March and pick them up again once they have a clearer idea of what this year's applicant pool looks like. I'm sure at least one of the current students around here was accepted off the hold list, so they might be able to give you a better idea.

Ok I'm confused. I've been complete since 8/25, rejected from CP on 10/12, but have yet to hear from UP. I just thought I'd be rejected by now. Silent rejection?

The admissions offices of the College Program and the University Program make their decisions separately. If you are accepted to interviews for both then you can coordinate the interviews to occur on adjacent days though. To my knowledge Case does not do "silent rejections".

Don't give up :luck:

Mind posting complete date? stats?

So I was complete on Aug 10th and still have not heard a word from Case. I'm sure I've been reviewed by now, no? Has Case started rejecting people pre-interview yet?

I'm guessing they are building up a big "reject" pile and most of us will get hit with it on the same day (Pitt anyone?)

Interview invite for UP today!

I'm super excited. Earliest interview date is Feb 1 for me. See y'all there.

Oh btw: Complet Sept 9th

Congratulations on the invite! 👍

If you don't mind me asking, was Feb 1st the earliest that Case could schedule you or the earliest date that you could fit into your schedule? (I try to keep track of these things for other applicants' questions)

I got rejected pre-interview today (UP). Was complete on 9/17, so definitely after you.

Congrats to those who have been accepted already, and GL everyone!

Hello everyone! I was invited for an interview for UP and couldn't be more excited.

For UP February isn't the first available time. Last night the last week in December was the first available and just now the 3rd week in January was the first available.

So this is probably a really random question, but I have a serious girlfriend who will definitely be coming with me to the interview. We both want to get the chance to see the city we might be living in. Her opinion and happiness mean a lot to me of course. But... I like the idea of the student host program. This would be my first interview with such a program (although I know they're common), so I don't know if it's totally awkward to take advantage of that if the gf came along. What's the etiquette on having significant others with student hosting? Is it common or taboo? Thanks and good luck everyone! :luck:

Since Acoustic brings up significant others, I thought I'd ask a question that's been weighing on my mind for a bit...

Case is definitely one of my top choices if not my very top choice, but......Cleveland is a problem. I live with my boyfriend of 3 years and he would love to follow me to medical school, but Cleveland isn't exactly a huge bustling city and he's a little concerned about the career options out there. So I'm wondering (1) how's the job market in Cleveland right now? Boyfriend is specifically interested in medical device companies...he's a mechanical engineer. Also, (2) Does Case have any career resources for the spouses/sig others of its students?

I love love love Case so much but I also love love love Boyfriend so much and I don't want to have to decide between the two come May!

Also, Acoustic, I don't know the specifics of student hosting etiquette but I did notice that on the host list there were a fair number of married/engaged couples offering to host. I'm sure if you got in contact with one of them and explained your situation they'd sympathize!

Thanks for updating me!

I think that's great that you and your girlfriend are traveling together for interviews, it gives you a reliable person to practice your interview with,.

Regarding the two of you staying overnight with a student host, the best thing I can suggest that you do is email and ask. I haven't heard of a couple staying overnight with a student host before, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. Everyone on the student host list volunteered to put their names on the list and is therefore very willing to answer your questions. The reality of the situation is that some hosts only have a spare couch/futon to sleep on, and therefore their facilities are not very conducive for two extra people. Just be upfront about your situation in your initial email to potential student hosts and I'm sure that you can find something :xf:.

Bah! We must be in the same pile. I just checked again, and nothing. I have low/terrible stats (3.4, 31), so I greatly fear rejection. However, my essays were some of the best I've ever written and very representative of me. So who knows. I'd love a chance.

To answer your first question, the job market nationwide is pretty rough right now. If you are serious about Case and your boyfriend wants to move with you then he should start looking for jobs ASAP. Sorry that I can't give any specifics, but it sounds like there are some important variables that you and your significant other need to weigh. I will say that Case does have a lot of NIH research money coming in case you boyfriend is considering a lab job.

i dont' know if this question has already been answered, but what is the acceptance rate after one has been interviewed?? i'm starting to get pretty stressed out! 🙁

As far as this scoreboard goes, it looks like I have some catching up to do to crack the top 10. Thank goodness for the long interview season...
Yes, you do, but I'm happy to report that you finally broke the top ten. Here are the new results as of this post:
Myuu 159
vc7777 130
FlowRate 62
Evergrey 61
Auriga 49
CCLCMer 43
OGMD 34
limondrop 31
Avoidthetiger 27
Biochemist21 23

rhesuspieces and Seven of Nine are closing in fast in 11th and 12th places, respectively.
rhesuspieces 21
Seven of Nine 17
I have a question. When a school, in this case cclcm, asks you to periodically call to check on your status (the lady on the phone said I should), how often is often enough to show interest but not to be bothersome? Like 2 or 3 weeks? Or do they mean monthly? Or is that just a nice way to say sit still and wait.
I think once a month is reasonable.

Wow, I know roughly where stuff is on the thread I helped create last year...and I still found it difficult to locate the great posts...

I am thinking of starting a treasure hunt! :meanie:

Challenge #1
First to post The original picture of CCLCMer's Avatar: 100 points!
I could do this, but it would be way too easy.

So does CCLCM like letters of intent/update? Should one wait to see if WL'd to send 'em? This would probably be the only one I send all season...
If you have info for an update, I would send that in. Letters of intent are a little premature since no acceptances have even gone out yet!

I had asked my boss for a general LOR when I applied on AMCAS, but I have recently learned that he went to Case Western for med school. Do you think it would be worth it to ask him to provide another, more "pointed" letter to CW in support of my application? I was hoping that his connection/affiliation with the school might hold more weight, and help move my app along. He is actually a very important/big name in my field of research.
No. He already wrote you a letter, so what purpose would a second letter from him serve? The letter is supposed to be about you, not about him, you know?

I hate to interrupt, but--

Well, maybe the 102nd time will be the charm. 😉

Probably you'll be considered for the December admission date since you're interviewing that early in December, and I think you would hear back from the UP too. Their adcomm meets every other week.

I'm unbelievably excited right now. Does this mean I can join the party that is the Case-forum??
I think you already have. 😀

I'm going to go out on a limb and recommend that you not bring your girlfriend to the interview, for several reasons. One, it will almost certainly be harder to find someone to host both of you. In my case, one person staying with me means I give up my couch. Two people staying with me means I give up my bed and sleep on the couch myself. I'm all about helping people out, but that's not something I'd ordinarily be willing to do for a couple of perfect strangers! Two, your girlfriend will be bored out of her mind. Your host is going to go off to school, you will go off to your interview day, and she will do....what exactly? Three, having two people travel is very expensive, especially if you're flying. Unless you're independently wealthy, it's not going to be practical to have her come to all of your interviews. Four, you are not allocating your time or travel funds wisely, because you are almost certainly not going to get accepted to every school where you interview. For every interview that does not ultimately result in an acceptance, her coming along for the trip was a total waste of her time and money. Which brings me to five: it is a lot more socially acceptable and cost-effective to bring your girlfriend to your second looks rather than bringing her to your interviews. That way, you're talking about a few schools where you're definitely accepted in a few cities that you're seriously considering living in.

Case is definitely one of my top choices if not my very top choice, but......Cleveland is a problem. I live with my boyfriend of 3 years and he would love to follow me to medical school, but Cleveland isn't exactly a huge bustling city and he's a little concerned about the career options out there. If you're seriously considering coming to Case, I agree that it would be wise to have him start looking for jobs now. Regardless of whether you decide to come here, he at least needs to know what his options might be.

i dont' know if this question has already been answered, but what is the acceptance rate after one has been interviewed?? i'm starting to get pretty stressed out! 🙁
I understand that you're grasping for answers. But it doesn't actually matter what the acceptance rate is, because all applicants do not have an equal chance of being accepted post-interview. So if I tell you that 300 people interview and 30 get accepted, that doesn't mean you have a 10% chance of getting in. Some people with really good applications will have a much higher chance, and others who get a post-interview rejection will have a 0% chance. None of us knows which group you fall into, so unfortunately, all you can do is wait for now. Good luck. :luck:

ooooooh, guess what I get? Oh, yeah, you know it!
