Heya,
I'm still trying to contact that admissions office to arrange an interview time, but I can't get through at all. Does anyone know when is the best time to call? I called at 1PM and 3PM Friday, and between 12 and 1:30PM today...I have one day left to call so I'm starting to get really worried!
Thanks!

I just e-mailed them when I got the interview invite and they emailed me back within a couple of hours. Did you try emailing instead of calling?

Yeah I emailed them at about 1PM and I just got a reply. Apparently the lady who deals with the interviews was away today and she'll call me back tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!

Just got an invite today! Complete December 20th.
Does anybody know the chances (roughly) of being accepted after receiving an interview? If they interview 16% of applicants (as their site indicates), it would seem that they accept only a small percentage of interviewed applicants!

Good luck to all those still waiting to hear.

About 35% get accepted.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Just to add, the dates they offered me today were: Jan 20th, Feb 1st, and Feb 3rd.

Did you guys get the interview invite today? 🙂
No, I got it January 5th. I spent a couple days trying to figure out which date would work best, then called them on Friday. They didn't respond then, so I waited for the weekend to pass, and then I called again on Monday. The offer was going to expire today (you have seven days to respond) so I was freaking out a little bit. They emailed me a confirmation this morning, so all is well and good now!

I have heard absolutely nothing since 9/14 from Dartmouth, though I guess I can send them a small update once all my semester marks come out

same here! i was complete early september

Does Dartmouth send out post-interview rejections/waitlist statuses throughout the season or do they wait until spring to send them all out?

I think they send them throughout the season.

Edit: Does Dartmouth send large letters (or small letters) for acceptances? Just curious.

Just curious, but where did you get the 35% figure from? According to the 2009 MSAR they interviewed 680 people for 72 spots. Assuming the 2011 stats are similar to what they were in 2009, that means that they would accept 238 people for 72 spots! I know some schools overaccept but that seems a little excessive lol!

Well, I suppose Dartmouth is one of those schools that overaccept excessively, since their actual enrollment rate is really low. 🙂

On my interview day... the dean (or maybe not the dean but someone really important) gave us a run-through about our "chances". He said that 1/3 of interviewees will be accepted and then 1/3 of those acceptees will matriculate.

I interviewed there Oct 14. absolutely loved DMS! Havent heard a word. I called the admissions office and the lady said they dont give status updates. I soooo want to hear from them. I'm worried 🙁

I was there the 14th too! Aaaaand still haven't heard anything either 😕

I interviewed in early October and have still yet to hear anything. Dartmouth is still definitely one of my top choices, and I'd love to hear some good news soon. Has anyone been accepted lately?

Also does anyone know if there is a particular time in the year when they tend to accept the majority of their applicants.

Btw according to US News 2009 numbers, approximately 42% of those interviewed will eventually be accepted (including those waitlisted).

Wow! Invite today. Was complete a looooong time ago (July). There's def still a chance if you haven't gotten a rejection! :luck:

congrats! what are the available interview dates if you don't mind?

Has anyone received an interview invite or a pre-interview rejection? i've been complete for months and have not heard back one way or the other.

They apparently send out invitations and rejections everyday.

This is the gist of what they told me when I called. They tell you when they make a decision, and not a moment later.

+1 I was complete in September and got an invite today. Looks like they interview all the way through February since the last date they offered was the 24th, so if you haven't gotten a rejection there's still a chance.

Just interview there last week and I absolutely loved the school. Everyone there was so nice...

Anyone know when they start sending out acceptances more frequently? Or do they continue to send them out slowly until the end of March?

Congrats. Did you apply MSTP or just MD?

I'm wondering the same thing Snoopy.

Anybody who interviewed in mid December hear back yet? Also, do decisions come through snail mail or email?

I think I completed my application in September and I have yet to hear anything.

I know there's that whole point system that Dartmouth supposedly uses to decide on interviewees, but is there any way of figuring out how long it'll be until we hear back? I interviewed back in early November, and I haven't heard a peep since then.

The point system basically works so that the threshold for those who get accepted lowers after every batch of decisions, so if your score wasn't high enough the first time they reviewed your file then the second or third time it may be, thus you'll receive an acceptance. If not, you may be wait-listed, which wouldn't be so bad considering the large amount of people that are accepted off the wait-list each year.

Has anyone who applied late (around early November) received an invite or rejection so far? I sent an in the area notice a few weeks ago, and will be in neighboring states both next week and the week after that (I live about 10+ hours away by car from Hanover). Apparently the note was added to my file, but I haven't heard anything since. Is this reason to expect a rejection, do you think?

Also, I'm super alarmed because I just noticed that I never received a complete email (didn't know Dartmouth sent them until scrolling through this thread tonight), although I've had 3 green lights since shortly after I submitted the secondary- the first week of November. I'm going to call Monday, but just wondered if this has happened to anyone else?
