Newnimproved, if this is your dream school, I wish for you to get the amazing call on Monday! It would be the sweetest Valentine Day gift ever!!

Thank you so much mb1985! I really appreciate the well wishes. I couldn't really sleep last night; I dreamed almost every single scenario for each of the possible decisions I could receive tonight/tomorrow. Wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine's Day and a phenomenal decision Monday!

I'm still waiting on the deferred decision 🙁 Probably not happening.

good luck! i went through this last monday, i checked the time every 5 minutes starting at about 5PM. he told us the window would be 6pm-midnight EST, but i feel like most calls come later. i wasn't feeling so confident by 10pm, and had to wait another hour before the good news. it's definitely not good for the nerves, but hopefully it will all be worth it for you in the end! 👍

good luck to all those waiting!

So I was rejected post interview a few months back, and will be reapplying this next cycle. Does anybody know how I could go about looking for feedback on why I was rejected? I'd really love to fix whatever I could and get in next year.

I have the business card of my faculty interviewer (Dr Flood) but I wasnt sure what the etiquette was on emailing him.

to everyone waiting for a phone call right now, best of luck and I hope you get the call 🙂 Happy V-Day again everybody!

Just got the call from Dr. Capers!!!!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting!:xf:

🙁 I think OSU must have lost my phone number. When, oh when will Dr. Capers call me????

Hey. Definitely check out this website: http://medicine.osu.edu/students/admissions/reapplicantAdvice/Pages/index.aspx

It's Dr. Capers' advice for medical school reapplicants. It is very informative and if you follow his advice, you have a really great chance of getting in the next time you apply. Best of luck to you!

Have others filled out the "application for special scholarships" that's due today?

Welcome 🙂 It's not clear whether there are actually any scholarships that apply to us, but I guess it can't hurt.

A question about the scholarship app:

For the question that asks if you have a bachleor's degree, are they referring to currently, or whether I will when I begin med school?

Thanks for the heads up on the scholarship app. I didn't even know about it! Need to hurry up and get this and the FAFSA in today!

What type of activities take place during second look weekend?

What type of activities take place during second look weekend?

Beyond the breakfast, dinner, and tour of campus, I'm not sure myself. However, I called the admissions office yesterday to ask when they plan on being done on sat (so that I could get tickets soon), and the lady that I talked to said that they would be releasing the schedule either over the weekend or early next week.

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that I had a late interview and called today to see if I could reschedule and they were able to bump me up a month! They still had a couple of dates free in March, so if you're an April interview and want to go earlier you should try to call admissions.

GL!

Does anyone know how hard it is to get a parking permit on campus once you become a med student? And, how far the parking area is from the medcenter?

Thanks for the information. I'll keep a look out for an e-mail or a status change to the medstar page.

I received the e-mail this morning. I'm not sure if I'm going to OSU's or Case's Second Look since they're the same weekend.

The transportation and parking link is a good one, but from my personal experience during undergrad, it's easy. The surface lots you're eligible for should be the C lots (I don't think professional students are treated differently for parking permits). I've ordered very early and very late, and never had a problem getting one. The only difference is that if you order early in August, they mail it to you. Otherwise you stand in a LONG line at Bevis Hall to pick it up.

You can also get a CG2 pass, which is what I've been using most recently, as it lets you park in the garages literally across the street from Meiling Hall where you interviewed on 9th Ave. Those are more expensive and you have to enter into a lottery because demand is greater than supply. I've done the lottery twice (I ordered as EARLY as possible!) and got a CG pass both times.

Good luck.

ETA: Both the garages and the "pit" (surface lot on Cannon Drive, which runs all along the med center from north to south) are within a very short, easy walking distance of the med center.

Who else will be there on 2/23? I'll be staying at The Red Roof Inn, which is hopefully close to the interview site. Good luck to everyone! I'm totally excited about visiting Columbus! 🙂

It is not close by foot. But you can take the med center shuttle from the stop a little West of the place in the loop near the parking lot.

You can take campus buses (CABS),but you'll need to transfer at the agricultural campus to the med center bus.

Thanks! that was extremely helpful, especially since you mentioned the lots that we'd have access to... that campus map posted on the parking services website takes a bit of time to decipher haha

Isn't today decision Monday? Did anyone get the call?

I have no idea, just a guess. My interview isn't for a couple of weeks so I'm trying to stay optimistic that they haven't finished giving out acceptances.

Good luck! You will love it there! And I was wondering cuz absolutely no one that interviewed last week has posted whether they got a call. Which is weird cuz there is always one person that would have heard by now.

Abel- dont you think its weird that no one posted anything today about decision monday?

Yes, it is. Which makes me wonder if decision monday is really decision tuesday due to the holidays...not really sure but really really looking forward to a call from Dr. Capers!

I think you're safe considering they invited me for an interview April 11th?? Seems awfully late to me, but I don't think they'd be interviewing unless that had a spot or two left. 🙂

Would you know if Dr. Capers already made calls?

Im sure he has like every other monday, but you should know your status tomorrow morning. Good luck!

It was on monday like usual. I got interviewed last week and did not get called. Got rejected this morning. Northwestern - 3.4 gpa maybe 3.1 or 3.2 science, 37O mcat, leadership roles in both global medical brigades (we set up medical clinics and treat people in Honduras) and peer health exchange (we teach health education classes to high schools with high poverty rates in chicago). 10 hours of community service per quarter which is 30 per academic year. I did dance marathon. I also had a 10 week research grant at Feinberg this past summer for Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, and colon cancer.

blame OPP......

NU orgo 210 and bio 210 sequences ruining lives per usual

haha he was a great lecturer though. now they're changing bio so that lab counts as credit hours. that means you can take just orgo and bio and be taking a full load. or so i've heard.

Sorry to hear about that. It sounds like you have a lot to offer. What do you think went wrong? Did you feel like your interview didn't go very well?

I have an interview coming up in a couple weeks. Any advice?

honestly i don't know. i feel like everything went fine. it was my first interview though (i did apply kind of late like mid december to most of my schools, maybe early december for a couple) so i'm not sure. there were not any crazy questions, i felt like i was just having a conversation with a new friend. pretty calm atmosphere. so yea, i have no idea.
