Just curious....if you attend the college station campus do you get full access to the undergrad campus such as gyms and athletic events and stuff the same way you do if you attended tt lubbock? I just don't remember it being mentioned as much as it was wen i interviewed in lubbock but then again i interviewed in Temple....
yes you do..leila mentioned that when I interviewed at temple

I believe you do. My buddy who goes there says she spends a lot of time at the rec center. And let me tell you what, we have a nice rec center. They just finished a bunch of renovations and have pretty much all new equipment and flat screens in the workout area. Not sure about athletic events, but you should be able to get the same access.

Is anyone for sure going to Temple? Are you planning on living in Temple or somewhere else?

Is anyone going to the second look on Jan 5? I'm going to College Station that day. Excited!

Me! I will be leaving Houston at 7am since the program starts at 9:45. I've never been to CS so I'm not sure what kind of traffic I'll encounter 😀

I have lived in CS for almost 5 years now (got my undergrad here 😀), and I can tell you that traffic in and around college station on that date should be pretty light to almost non-existent. Most students will still be gone for the break and students are the majority of the traffic that clogs up CS.

did anyone receive scholarship offers from A&M? or is that later on

did anyone receive scholarship offers from A&M? or is that later on

I did receive a scholarship offer for $1000 a few weeks ago, but I'm OOS so that dropped me down to in-state tuition. I'm not sure if its different for IS people.

I received a $6550 a year scholarship letter about three weeks ago. Unfortunately, I will not be attending this fine institution. Hopefully, it will go to someone else.

i assume the the scholarship letter did not come with your acceptance letter? how soon after your acceptance letter did you get the scholarship letter? best of luck to you

I was accepted on the 11/15. And now that I think of it, I received an email about the scholarship about two weeks after I received an acceptance. I am from Texas.

I'm not sure if anyone else has addressed this yet but does anyone know the specifics for choosing a particular "primary study track" for those of us that have been accepted?

I recently received an email from A&M saying that they were adding 2 tracks that included 3rd and 4th years in Dallas or Austin. I wasn't sure how that would fit in with the current 5 primary tracks?

And at what point would we apply for a particular track and/or find out when we are accepted to a track.

Thanks,

After the match they will send out info on choosing tracks. I really can't tell you much about the Dallas and Austin options since these are all new to me too : )

i'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but i just wanted to make sure 😀. are tests spread out (1 every week/2 weeks) or crammed together (5 billion tests in the same week)? thanks!

they took my online courses from my local community college, so there should be no problem

Does anyone recommend apartments to live in? I'll be needing a 1br in the CS area...any suggestions would be great!

Ditto on the apartments question, I will need to start looking as well. Any suggestions for a decent apartment and location at a not-too-high price?

Also, to anyone who still has their interview packet: could you PM me? I've lost mine and would like to ask a couple of info. questions that I remember were answered in that packet. Thanks!

Don't get anything in Bryan (sister city to CS, very close) and stay away from the state streets off of Holleman and Welborn. There are a ton of affordable apartments and duplexes in College Station, so you won't have any trouble finding something. I would stay away from the bigger complexes like the zone and Aggie Station since those are primarily filled with noisy undergrads. The area around Welsh and 2818 has a lot of nice duplexes and the area is pretty quiet as well. Just drive around and look for rent signs in the yards.

Did anyone visit CS for second look today? I interviewed at Temple and wanted to visit CS today but wasn't able to. Did you guys find anything that really stood out at CS. Btw are any of you guys leaning towards all 4 years at Temple/
I am trying to decide between UTMB and A&M and both of them seem pretty good..any input?

Thanks!

go to A&M man. brand new facilities in CS. with a really nice simulation center. UTMB is pretty beat up and is at risk of hurricanes all the time. filo, the dean at CS, is super nice too.

I saw the "game" part in each of your names and thought you were talking to yourself.

Anyways, If A&M had accepted me I would have almost surely gone there. I know several students that are there or who have gone through it, and from everything they tell me it really seems as though the faculty does a good job of taking care of the students. And they've got that new building - which apparently doesn't have a mini-fridge for the students or something. That's the only grievance I've heard so far.

Hey guys, I am going to take some classes online to raise up my GPA. I already graduated with a B.S. in Biology. I am going to take a&p and etc, but want to take Biology 2 (Since I made a B in it when I took it first time). The only one offered online is Biology for Non-Science Majors... is that okay to take? will it still count towards my science GPA? I just need to raise my science GPA as much as possible so figured an easy A in Bio 2 couldn't hurt. But will it in this case?

Since A and M fills most of their class by pre-match offers, how are people who were not pre-match offered treating the match? I'm just curious, because I do not want to waste a high ranking if the probability is small. Anyone else out there considering their strategy for tonight?

If A&M is your #1 choice, rank it #1. There will still be spots available during the match, and if they want you for one of those spots, they will match with you, If you don't get matched there, then you will get matched to your highest ranked school that accepts you. Rank the school solely in order of your preference of where you want to go. If you rank A&M lower because you don't think you will get accepted, but it is your #1 choice, you run the risk of not getting accepted to your top choice.

I think it should raise your science GPA, but I don't think it will count as a pre-requisite for med school. So that original B will still be there under your pre-reqs list.

The only strategy is to rank them in the order of where you truly want to go. I've read all the rules regarding this, that is the best way to go about this.

Declining my pre-match at A&M... so that's one open spot for someone.

Good luck all. 🙂

Geez this process is nerve-wracking.

During my second look at the Temple campus last week the admissions director there told us they are adding 20 more seats at the temple campus this year, and 20 more each year at both sites until 2013 I believe, so at least there are 20 more seats for people waiting to get accepted in the match... good luck, Ive already been accepted here but am also waiting to hear from 2 OOS schools also

Did anyone else notice that on the stats sheet A&M gave the interviewees the number listed by 'matched (feb. 1)' is 128? They did say that they fill most of their class during the prematch, but their own numbers don't seem to back that up. Eh, it's probably that they offered enough to fill most of the class, but then had a bunch withdraw before match day. Should give those like me with non-stellar stats hope that we'll match to this awesome school.

I was checking the TMDSAS rank page and I noticed that A&M was no longer there. I then checked the BAMF site and saw the rejection email. I guess I knew it was coming because I interviewed so early and did not get a pre-match. Send an email to [email protected] and you can see your entire application file, including what your interviewers wrote about you. You are legally entitled to review information that the school keeps on you. I was a bit shocked by what I read. I didn't know that I came off that way.

I'm pretty sure that the majority of 128 number are the pre-match applicants who were then matched into TAMU on Feb 1st because they ranked TAMU #1 or did not get into the schools they ranked higher than TAMU. I dont think it was an additional 128 students that were matched into TAMU whom do not have a pre-match to TAMU.

How were you able to check your rank page? When I logged in all it said was that the time had past to enter your rankings...
My BAMF is still good though.
I really hope for some amazing news on match day.:xf:

Did you do it already? Is there anything pre-interview included in what you got back? I didn't interview, so I'm wondering if they wrote anything about my application that I might be able to see about why they didn't interview me.

I would like to know this as well. Would be very interesting to see what my interviewers and the ADCOM thought of me.

Yes. Anyone can do it. Because A&M is a public university, it is considered part of the government/an arm of the State of Texas. There is a law that allows you review information that the government keeps on you. All you have to do is submit an open records request. They will get back with you within 10 business days. If you email the request, they will usually send it as a pdf file at no charge. Just be as specific as possible and include your name and address.

To answer the other questions, there were no pre-interview comments and I just checked the schools that I previously ranked before the deadline. I just noticed that A&M was no longer there, so I was a little shocked. I posted my first post a while after all of this happened.

I'm curious about the pre-interview comments as well. A&M was the only Texas school that didn't interview me and I'm wondering why they didn't like my app 😕

So, on Tuesday do we get an email from TMDSAS, the Medical School we are matched at, or just log on to TMDSAS to find out?

Thanks

i believe it's up...to skerr'd to check...😳
