i was just offered an interview for 11/13 this thursday. i think i submitted about one month ago, i cant remember when i was complete though

Just got the secondary. How many do they send out? Is it worth sending it in this late in the game? (this program seems great). Also, did your guys' secondary come in like a Word format for you to fill out?

I would if I were you! I don't think it's late at all, given what I have read about CDU's process. I think they really, really want applicants who have served the underserved though. Good luck!

And yes, it was a Word file.
 
Email! I sent in secondary at the end of September and they marked it received last week some time. Good luck!!

Wow, that was fast! I submitted my secondary at the end of August. Still no word....
 
Ahh, sorry they're keeping you waiting! Seriously, if they invited me, I'm sure it is just a matter of time til they invite you!!

I will copy you and publicly state that I would really LOVE an interview here. It is truly my first choice. Now they'll track me down and hopefully an interview invite follows within the next week. Good luck to you!

My secondary was just marked received today - is there a difference between received and complete?
 
Trying to make this forum more lively.

If anyone is interviewing 11/13, I can offer rides to the airport. I know this process is competitive but above all we are all human and $30 taxi fees hurt everyone. I live literally right next to LAX so I would feel terrible if anyone had to pay a taxi or rental car. If you have any questions about LA or need a ride, PM me.
 
Any interview invites lately? I've been complete for well over four weeks and I'm starting to get nervous!

Hey guys, I just received my secondary for CDU...I'd really love to go here, but think there's any chance this late in the game? I should be able to get it in by the end of the week, but still...

Also, if we had already forwarded our LoR from AMCAS, do we need to resend them directly to the CDU address listed on the Secondary?

It's definitely still worth it! Drew, like most of the California schools, is a bit slower in the entire application process & your application will still be considered.

It looks like last year a number of people received a status change along the lines of, "your decision will be sent to you in the mail after November 15th", which turned out to be a rejection. Has anyone gotten this this year? Or has anyone been rejected pre-interview/ post-secondary?
 
Received an interview invite earlier this week and will interview in mid / late December. Took them less than a week from application completion to giving me an interview.

CDU is definitely one of my top choice and good luck for everyone who is waiting to hear back.

Congrats! Its great to hear people who have CDU as their first choice receiving interviews. From my date, I really got the feeling every student we met was completely and absolutely dedicated to the program. I hope I was able to convey the same commitment and passion.

Do you mind sharing which date in december? It seems like theres only been 2 dates so far and 1 more on 12/11.

Doing my secondary right now and a little confused on the character limit. Is the limit 600 characters with or without spaces - having a hard time cutting my answers down. Thanks in advance.

Don't count spaces.

I was complete 10/25. My status still says 'please allow four weeks...'

Should I send them a letter of interest?

I don't know about sending a letter of interest, since people typically send them after completing the interview. I would definetely send an update letter (if you have any update) instead and put in your continued "interest" in the letter.

They sent the interview invite rather quickly for me (less than 5 business days).

Does anyone know how many secondaries they send out? Got one last week and want to get an idea of its significance. I know many UCs cut their applicant pools by a lot with secondaries, but this isn't a traditional UC program. Thanks!!!

Hey ppls,
I said this before but once again...don't play the role of the admissions committee. If you really want to go somewhere, then apply. In the grand scheme of things, $50 bucks on a secondary is really insignificant in comparison to the 4+ years of non-stop work we put in, in order to apply to medical school.....Just don't let next year come around and you begin to have regrets for not completing one secondary...I say this because I was thinking the same thoughts, and wasn't going to do the application until my buddy said "Dude, you might have a chance"...low and behold..I'm gonna take my Block II exam in 10 days...

Duno how many they give out, but you'll probably have to keep waiting for one. Looking back, people have been getting them in recent weeks.

The secondary (if awarded) is a Word doc they send you that you have to fill in. There's about 12 questions that you need to answer in bullet-form asking about your current activities, goals, family, socioeconomic factors etc. If you look back on last year's thread, I think someone put them up.

I've been complete since the end of August and still no word 🙁 My status still says "please wait 4 weeks"....at this point it's starting to get really freaking annoying.

Do you mind sharing your stats? I have below average stats but strong ECs. I think that's why I even got a secondary... An interview from Drew would be just amazing. 😍

Yo! My stats are far from amazing...3.55 BCPM, sub 30 MCAT, with PS being my lowest score. I think that my ECs helped me get an interview for sure! I've taught, currently doing AmeriCorps, volunteered over 700 hours at a hospital with leadership experience, did some basic research, and I am a non-traditional student. I first got a degree in sociology and returned to school for one in biology. I also worked really, REALLY hard on my personal statement! Good luck!

I'm a non-traditional as well. with stats similar to yours. I have done some abroad missions and, lot of volunteer work and A LOT of research... I wonder if I should send them something to let them know how very interested I am. I think I'm a perfect fit for this program...

The sheet of paper said 4-6 weeks, but according to last year's thread, it won't be until mid-late January. Depending on when you interviewed, 4-6 weeks might be true.

For our interview in October, the dean just said it would be "a while." 🙄
 
yeah......I interviewed in the first batch.........still just crickets........I called and they said to wait until mid/late Dec....I;m just hanging on to the fact that December is not really an overly productive month, what with vacations and all.....January is the month to wait for......:xf:

I interviewed Nov 13, still haven't heard anything

I interviewed Oct 16th and I still haven't heard anything. I am hoping for UCLA/DREW too, I loved their program.
 
From past year's threads and students from previous years, they don't even have their first committee meeting until mid Jan (i think 15th or whatever the corresponding day would be this year). I really am hoping for good news soon too. Good luck guys.

Has anyone heard anything as far as interview invites lately?

For CDU students: are they planning any more interview dates in Jan, Feb or March?



Been complete for about 8ish weeks...
 
Which email have you all used to contact the admissions office? I sent a question to [email protected] on Monday and haven't heard back yet. Is there another address they prefer?

I'd like to know the answer to Stevo's question too since the website doesn't state how far out interviews will be scheduled.

You could call the admissions office, they pick up.

Btw (for anyone waiting post interview) I called recently and they said my application was going to committee next week, and that I should know my admissions decision earliest by the last week in January.
