Did you guys get an email about interview dates? My status says interview to be scheduled, but I've not received anything from UK about it.

I did. Yours should be coming soon - no worries!

What does "interview to be scheduled mean"? I just got that too...

IS. Complete 7/20.

My wild guess is that they are about to pick a date for you. You should get the email soon.

Interview to be scheduled!!! Woopie! 😀
IS complete 7/26

I am sort of bothered, though, that I haven't gotten the email yet to actually pick a date. I wonder why? 😕

Really, I don't think you should worry at all. They don't ask you to pick a date - they offer you a date. The email would come.

I called admissions about the "Interview(s) to be scheduled" status update and they informed me that email invitations would go out by the end of the week. Just thought I would pass that on...

My status was "interview to be scheduled" when I checked on Saturday and I just got the interview invite email. Just thought I would let you guys know that it does pull through! 🙂

If you guys have any questions about Lexington, I'm in-state and I live in Richmond, which is ten minutes away from Lex. Just ask!

Yay! Congrats! So when is your interview?
I'll have tons of questions for you after I get accepted!

Yay! Interview Invite as well! Mine is for 9/25 and I was complete on 7/31. I was nervous that I would be rejected right after my secondary because I am OOS.

do you have strong ties to KY? if you don't mind, could you post your stats?

Mine's October 5th. Sort of late I guess but maybe I will slide into that first batch of acceptances. I might have missed a previous post about when your interview is.

Mine's 9/11. Yes, you'll make the first batch cos the admissions committee meets frequently and they are fast with decisions...and look on the bright side, you only have 10 days to wait!

Same day as me! I'll be the one looking incredibly worn out--my interview at VCU is scheduled for October 4th, so I'll have to drive back that night and be up for UK in the morning. :scared:. C'est la vie.

Wow... I have an interview at VCU as well. Good luck!

Just a heads up: I noticed when looking for hotels that my interview is in the middle of the World Equestrian Games. Anyone interviewing 9/25 - 10/10 should book a hotel NOW if you're willing to pay for it, or try to find with someone in the area to stay with. All the hotels within a 30 minute radius of Lexington will be booked pretty soon.

My interview is on 9/25 as well. Booking a room isn't the only problem, the rooms are super expensive. My mom (who is traveling with me) was looking at a Hamptom Inn (not top of the line) and they wanted $1000, a lot of places are asking between $500-$1000. I am actually e-mailing them today to ask their advice. I'll let you know what I find out.

just got an interview scheduled for Oct 23rd... I've never even been to Kentucky before, but I'm pretty excited about it!

I live about an hour away from Lexington. If you guys try to get hotels a little bit further from Lexington, maybe in Richmond they might be cheaper. I would hate to pay even $500 for a hotel!!! Craziness.

Anyone have their status as "Interview(s) to be scheduled." but not received an actual date yet? Still waiting on mine...

hopefully they are seeing if some of the earlier spots open up with people rescheduling or something... because right now it looks like they are into late October based on the most recent people who have posted with invites

Ive got the same status but no news yet

Anyone OOS gotten an interview yet? If so, do you mind sharing when you submitted your secondary and when the interview is? 🙂

Hey OOS here, I submitted my secondary on July 21, and was invited on August 6 for my interview on September 11.

I am also an OOS applicant to Kentucky for this cycle. If you don't mind me asking, how did you write the Out of State Essay (the very long one with five parts)? My understanding is that the committee essentially requests another personal statement, but I'm having trouble coming up with novel topics or perspectives that I didn't already discuss in my AMCAS.

I've also noticed that the prompt asks "Please elaborate on any Kentucky ties: personal, familial, etc." One of my major motivations for applying to UK is so that I can attend school with my significant other (i.e. we're trying to get in med school in the same city, but we aren't married or engaged yet). I think this is important information and I would like to include it; however, do you think it will come off as trivial or immature?

I wrote my OOS essay about all the research I had done about Kentucky and the area using specifics about the things I particularly liked. While I have never been to the area, I have a really good friend who lives in Louisville and so through talking to her I was able to get a good enough feel about the area that I wanted to apply there. I don't think that it is immature at all to mention that you are trying to get into school with your significant other. Family is extremely important as a kind of built in support system IMO. I have a wife and little girl and couldn't imagine going anywhere without them. Course my wife is not applying to med school either.
Good luck anyway.

Hey OOS here, I submitted my secondary on July 21, and was invited on August 6 for my interview on September 11.

Same interview date Sept 11 and also OOS. I mentioned that I spent 5 weeks with a family in the mountains of Kentucky and I have a close friend who is attending UKCOM. I think mentioning your significant other is ok, except I wish you guys were engaged cos that could further strengthen your case. Well, give it a shot.

hi,

can anyone please guide me in the right direction. I am an OOS with very strong ties to Kentucky. I have received a letter from UK COM saying that my application is put on hold and will be compared with other applicants.

Is this a soft rejection? Can anyone recommend anything? I am very interested in this school but this is heart breaking!

Thank you

Recieved the UK Secondary at 2:10 pm. Apparently, I missed 1 question from my previous post:

7. Please share unique, personally important, and/or challenging facts in your background, such as the quality of your early educational environment, socioeconomic status, culture, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or life or work experiences. Please discuss how such factors have influenced your goals and preparation for a career in medicine.

Then, there's the OOS essay:
Essay
(Out of State Students Only)
This is an opportunity to describe more about yourself to the Admissions Committee. The Personal Comments section of the AMCAS application is not an acceptable substitute. In the essay, please address the following points:

a.Reasons for selecting a medical career;
b.Things you have done to prepare yourself for a medical education and career;
c.Personal characteristics and other accomplishments and experiences that you feel help qualify you for the practice of medicine; and,
d.Why you chose to apply to the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
e.Please elaborate on any Kentucky ties: personal, familial, etc.

So the prompts were the same as last year? What about the MD/PhD prompts? Has anyone seen those yet? If so, can someone please post them?

Thanks!

I received the same!! I am also out of state, strong ties, and got the letter today.
anyone have any idea what it means?

I dunno. I got the same thing last year from another school. And I never heard anything else. Im still working on getting the secondary out this weekend. I was told that they are finished early at this school, like around december.

To those who have gotten interviews and are OOS:
could you please share your numbers with us?
Thanks

Does anybody know how long the answers to the questions on the secondary should be? Im doing it now.
