earlier in the thread someone stated a statistic that about 1/3 of applicants get a secondary and then about 10% of those that receive a secondary will get an interview.

This seems a bit extreme to me for some reason. I know for OOS the probability of being interviewed is less than 10%. Makes me think once you get a secondary after their screen if it is true that only 1/3 of applicants get one then you should have a more decent shot of being interviewed than 1/10. But then I always forget I suck at math :laugh:

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for an interview but seeing those odds makes me shudder.
 
The interview rate for OOS applicants is ~6%, acceptance rate is ~3%.
 
Does anyone know how long it takes Wake Forest to screen for secondaries? I submitted my primary about a week ago.

Did you receive a complete email? That's about when I submitted mine, but I haven't heard anything back from the admissions office.

No, I got nothing from Wake Forest after primary submission. Are we screened out?

After you submit your primary, I'm not sure if you have to wait til it's verified before hearing anything from WF. Either way (whether you have to wait a while longer or not), you'll get an email with a status link that will typically just say "we have received your AMCAS application and are screening..." - after you go through this screening, which is about 7-10 days (in my experience), they either send you a secondary or you're rejected. So, wait on their initial email and go from there.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I don't even have an email saying that ("we have received your AMCAS application"). So far, silence, so I don't know what to do, haha.

Just get all your secondaries done for other schools - you'll hear something eventually (hopefully that you're screened in!). :luck:
 
Ugh, screened out!🙁

And it was one of my top choices, if not my top choice with NYU.

Oh well, I guess their Med MAR emails just give false hope.

They said they have not received my AMCAS primary application yet, even though I submitted 10 days ago. Is it possible that the primary got lost? I have a similar problem at Mount Sinai. This is discouraging, lol.

Wake Forest does everything in batches so try to stay calm. 10 days is jumping the gun a little. My primary was submitted about two months ago and it took them about 3 weeks to recognize that they had received it. Since that time they have only received more applications so know that it is going to take some time.
 
should we write a thank you letter after interview? how important the letter is?
 
When we send a confirmation email regarding attendance at the interview date, should we expect anything in return? I doubt it, but just want to make sure.
 
Does anyone know what's the best way to get from Greensboro airport to Winston-Salem? Is there a cheap shuttle or anything? I would hate to have to take a cab...

On a similar note, how long after scheduling your interview did you receive an email with all of the information? I scheduled my interview earlier this morning after seeing the status change yesterday. The friendly lady who answered my call said I would receive an email confirming all the information. Is the information in the email pertinent?
 
I also noticed my status change yesterday. I quickly called to schedule an interview... still have not received the email. It should come within the next three days, so I guess we have to just stick it out.

Also, does anyone know if student hosting is available?!?!?!?

If anyone is wondering, WF typically accepts 270-290 students for their class. For 2010 class, they accepted 220. I forget how many interviews they normally get, you would have to look in MSAR.

Thanks wanderer100; Ladyloe, I don't mind waiting at all. I absolutely love Wake Forest and am so excited to be given the opportunity to interview here. What day did you sign up for? Maybe we'll be in the same interview group.

I dont think student housing is available, or I just couldn't find any info about it anywhere...

I got the email the day after I called them and yes the info in it is pretty important (you need to send them an email to confirm your interview)

Does anyone know how long it takes from secondary complete to when you hear about an interview? (Typically, I mean).

It sounds like acceptances go out after periodic adcom meetings. I heard the first meeting is around 10/20 and acceptances go out in early Nov. (I'm not sure why it takes 10+ days to send out a pre-written e-mail or snail mail letter....shrug?)

Please post if you have more info or know when the next adcom meeting is.
 
I don't think Wake Forest loves me. I've called every week (poor admissions lady) and sent in a letter of intent! Grrr Wake ... no love.

I know when I went to my interview in mid-Sept. They said the committee would meet to discuss our files on Oct 6 and we proably wouldn't hear back until mid-Nov and that WF doesn't start offering any acceptances until Nov. 1.

::Sigh:: They just want to torture us some more. This is definitely my top choice so I am just a ball of nerves waiting. ACK.

Not sure why it would take until November though to send out decisions, but I love them anyway 😍 More hurry up and wait 😴

It was 4 days for me, but I think I was completed right before the committee decided to get together. Strategic timing 🙂

Hee yeah, I feel ya. They're definately my top choice. I love the area and the program. Hopefully we will get to be classmates. 😀 I only know the adcom date because a fellow interviewee asked when they met and I specifically wrote down the date.

Thanks again for writing down Oct. 6th, but it does freak me out :scared: because it means that our fates have most likely already been decided. I interviewed in early-ish September. 😍

I was waitlisted last year.. and missed getting in by a few people.. they even ran a background check on me but nobody withdrew in the month prior to classes starting... hopefully they won't be so cruel as to waitlist me again... I will probably just cry my eyes. :scared:

lol yeah. it was horrible.. i wouldn't wish it on anyone. I had already moved on and gotten over not getting accepted.. then had hope again only to get it crushed.. lol

I refuse to get excited until I get the acceptance letter from somewhere this time. I learned my lesson. I think I deserve an acceptance somewhere this time for being tricked twice last year. hehehe. Don't mind me, I'm a little jaded this cycle. lol and all the schools I interviewed at don't give out acceptances until Nov/Dec. it makes me want to scream because I was hoping Sept interviews might yield a Oct 15 acceptance. Joke was on me though. lol
 
wait... so when are they going to start sending acceptances?

I interviewed in September and they made it sound like stuff would go out Nov 1 (or atleast early in Nov). Are people now hearing that they are going to wait until mid November to send anything??

No, no, it's all speculation. Some people heard some things, others---other things. I think we are all agreeing that they said, something akin to "wait until Nov. for any word".
I heard "early November".
Last year apparently they said the same thing, but people received word towards the end of October.
Wake, is a great place and very straight forward. We'll just have to see what happens 👍
 
At my interview, they said i'll be notified on Nov 1.
 
I'm looking for some help from anyone who has filled out the secondary (I'm still waiting for one to arrive). Is there anywhere in the secondary which asks about any family members who have attended Wake Forest? I'm an OOS applicant and my sister recently graduated near the top of her class from Wake Law School, so I'm hoping the family connection might increase my odds of at least getting an interview. Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't remember that kind of question, but I do think it asks if someone in your family is a graduate of the med. school or faculty at the med. school. I seem to remember 3 categories, but they were all medically related.
 
This might be a stupid question but how do I check my status? Someone earlier mentioned the website is in my "application complete email", but it appears that website is just the general website for the medical school - I still can't find where I can go to check the status of my application.
