for merit scholarships?
No idea! Didn't get offered one, so I wouldn't know, I'm afraid.
for merit scholarships?
For the forms, you'll need FAFSA (as always) and NeedAccess. FAFSA does not require parental info, but NeedAccess does, if you have any desire for need-based aid. Financial aid packages usuallyl go out around waitlist domino season.
For perfectly ordinary financial aid? No.
Depends on how much you value saving money versus having your own space. For me, having my own space was more important. I cut costs by not having a car.I hope I am not repeating a question already asked somewhere on this thread, but I am looking around at housing. I know housing has been discussed somewhere here. What I wish to know from any current/former students is this: do most M1's, or medical students at Case for that matter, live with roommates? Would you recommend living with other medical students during med school or not? I am trying to cut costs wherever I can. As far as living arrangements, I just need something comfortable and secure that is close to campus since most of my time will be spent in the library or elsewhere studying anyway. Thanks! 👍
For me it was mainly between CCLCM, Pritzker, WashU, Baylor, and UMich.CCLM students/applicants/accepteders (college track) -- what other schools were (are) you guys deciding between?
Either or would be a good decision. Most of the Ivy programs are also pretty heavily research-oriented, and I seem to recall all of them offering a fifth year for research and a MS if you want to do that.is is program a better decision, than say, an Ivy league school (assuming we want to be involved with academic medicine throughout our career).
It did for me. I was offered scholarships at my top five choices, so I wasn't about to pay full tuition to go to an Ivy school.Or does the $$$ play a big role in that decision...
So what? College advisers are idiots. Most of them, anyway. And besides, this is YOU going to medical school, not them. You're at least, what, 21, 22 years old? If you're smart enough to get accepted to several med schools, you should be smart enough to think for yourself by now. Make a decision based on YOUR values, not on what some random college adviser who barely knows you says. When you interviewed at each of the schools you're considering, how did you like them? Did you think you fit in with the students you met? Can you see yourself living in that location? For me, CCLCM was the clear winner, and if I had to make the same decision again, I'd still choose CCLCM. But if you want to go to an Ivy school, then that's what you should do, assuming you can get into one. It's not like CCLCM is the only good research-oriented school in the whole country. Go wherever you like best, especially if the costs are comparable.i haven't heard much about this program from my college advisors, so i dunno\
just wondering, does the scholarship app for UP involve more essays?
I applied in 2005-2006, and at least back then, yes, you had to write an additional essay. I don't remember it being particularly onerous though. My advice is that if you get offered a merit app, you should just do it, especially if Case is one of your top choices. Considering that the scholarship is worth $200,000 if you get the full tuition version, don't you think that would be an hour of your time well spent?for merit scholarships?
Sorry, I meant to justify me asking a Q in this thread b/c of lack of information sources, not to play the US News Ranking game.So what? College advisers are idiots. Most of them, anyway. Thanks for your responses though
If I was initially not invited for merit based aid...does that entirely rule me out of receiving it?
anybody have insight on how much (on average) case gives in grants? wasn't offered a merit scholarship.
I know it is based on financial need, and everyone has different finances, but i'm just looking for a ballpark figure...or just some of the current experiences with this?
thanks
Hope all is well!
Yay! Snow in Cleveland!

Wow, three days without a post? Something is not right 😏
In other news, I'm planning to send in my letter of intent this week 😀 Hopefully this and a few more letters is enough to get me off the waitlist!![]()
Hey everyone! I'm interviewing this Friday, January 20th - so excited! Mostly have a logistical question, about the weather in Cleveland and appropriate footwear. This is my first interview in the full-force wintertime, and I'm wondering if during the interview day you find yourself outside a lot, and if so, how snowy it is. Are women's dress shoes still weather appropriate, or should I be considering something more substantial?
Regardless, can't wait to visit case in t-2 days!
Is anybody else interviewing this upcoming Monday (1/23)?
In other news... Case tweeted that they reviewed my interview date today. Excited for news tomorrow!
Am withdrawing from my interview tomorrow so that someone else can have an opportunity to experience Case love. Best of luck!
Maybe he was going to call today to decline his interview? 😀While I think many appreciate you declining the interview if you are certain you will not attend - I think that 1-day notice is pretty tight and may mean it is impossible to fill the spot. Protip: Give programs much more advanced notice than this in the future.

Wow.
Pro-tip to everyone else: don't do this.

ANY of these alternative realities is better than withdrawing the day before and not to mention: much more...suave?I'm sure he meant that he was withdrawing today, not that his interview was today. At least...I hope so...

I got my II at exactly 7pm central time so I'll expect to hear back from them at that time tooHot off Twitter:
@CaseMedAdmissions:
"Admissions decisions from last night's mtg have been entered! Those who interviewed recently should find out this evening on iApply."
Gameface.

iapply updates earlier than the emails that get sent out I believe. Good luck! 👍
Accepted sometime in the last half hour via iapply. I don't see anything about being a potential scholarship candidate... Does this come later or am I out of the running? Not that I really care because this acceptance is awesome.
Accepted 👍
So if there was nothing about merit-based scholarship in the letter, then it isn't happening?
I also liked this line, "We also expect that you will maintain your current high level of academic success, personal integrity and professionalism at every level, including internet-based activities"
hmmm.
A couple questions for CWRU students...
Which society is the best? 😀😀
Also, are students randomly placed in their society, or do they choose which they would like to be in before coming?
Accepted 👍
