Good Morning Cleveland!

We have had our first significant snowfall in what seems like an eternity here! Good times. Good times.

The interview season is completed, and I am updating (as promised) on the "path forward" for CCLCM:

As I have said, during this upcoming week will be the admissions committee meeting. At this meeting the remainder of the first 32 acceptances will be decided. There are a few subsequent meetings and paperwork to be done which means that the actual calls will not go out until the week after, roughly. Also, decisions about all applicants will be made at that time. These results will be posted shortly thereafter to iApply. If I learn more about exact dates/times of acceptances going out, I will let you know.

Again, I remind you that CCLCM cannot over-accept - so there will be exactly 32 accepted after this last round of the admissions committee, so a dozen or so acceptances will be going out with this round immediately. A waiting list will be formed at this meeting a well. It is a zero-sum game wherein applicants will be accepted of this waiting list only after individuals decline their acceptances.

As the "traffic date" approaches, I would anticipate more movement off the waiting list to occur.

Good luck. I hope I have made this clear. If you have any questions, let me know. :luck::xf:

Thanks for keeping us posted! Judging from your MDapps, I'm pretty sure I met you last week at my interview during lunch. It's nice to finally be able to put a face to the (user)name! 😀

Accepted! Congrats to everyone else who was accepted.

Anyone know what the odds of getting the merit scholarships are if you're invited to apply for them? Thanks!

I'm on hold. I want to send them an update with my fall grades... I don't know if it will make a difference but I figure it won't hurt. Just wanted some advice: do you think in this update email I should include something about my interest in/fit for the school (letter of interest type thing), or just update them with the grades? I wasn't sure since it's not a waitlist yet. Thanks!

I like the info you share for us ,, but vision is not clear in this post, what you exactly want to promote..

Hi all, I was accepted to the UP back in January and have a question for the current students. This has probably been discussed somewhere in the 49 pages of the thread 🙂laugh🙂, but for someone from the West Coast (i.e. one of those many peeps from California), do many from that group bring cars to Cleveland? I would imagine that a lot of housing options are within walking distance of the school, but I'm still curious since having a car would obviously be practical, but impractical to drive cross country. Thanks!!

I'm on hold too, and I think telling case why you would be a good fit is a great idea. I imagine they like to see interest. Also, I believe that Mr. (Dr.?) Essman and Dean Mehta make the decisions on the waitlist, so showing them your interest can never hurt. By the way, I sent a short email and got a short response right away, which I thought was nice. Maybe it's a pre- written response but it seemed personal nonetheless. I really like Case's admissions office- they are helpful and nice🙂

Any more information regarding admissions decisions at CCLCM?

I believe that, if you are offered to apply for one, they will notify you with your acceptance.

Case rulesssssss :horns::nod::horns:

I got a second letter that said I was invited to apply for merit scholarships and that more info would be sent my way in march. I guess I was just wondering if anyone knew how many people apply and the number of scholarships available. I'm from the west coast and case is going to cost a pretty penny without some aid. ha

Thanks!

Well good for you! 👍 Good luck. :luck:

Is there time blocked off for Step 1 prep?

Thanks in advance for the info.

I remember from the information session that there is a 6 week "block" of study time built into 3rd year that you can use for Step 1 review. it sounded like most use this as their 1st block (I plan on it) but if you wanted to you could take it after a rotation.

Unless it's changed and no one has told me, it's an 8-week block. You used to be able to do Core III first, but recent changes in the clinical rotation set up have eliminated that as an option, to my knowledge.

Accepted to CCLCM!!! OMG so happy!!! Does anyone remember when Dr. Franco said the Second Look would be? I was totally dazed when talking to her on the phone.

Accepted at CCLCM! Got the phone call this afternoon!

SOO HAPPY!!

Is there a High Priority wait list here at CCLCM?? and then a general waitlist? Or how does it work?

Any suggestions for getting off the waitlist?

Were you already waitlisted? I seem to remember them saying during interview day there was a higher priority list, but don't quote me on it...

Yes, I am also curious if there are different levels of waitlist. Is there a waitlist and also a hold list, or just hold? Anyone have any idea how big this list is and if it is ranked? If any CCLCMers could chime in it would be much appreciated. Excited about the program, but nervous about where I stand.

Are you on the regular waitlist?

Also - Gears of war fan?

Waitlisted to CCLCM as well, my status changed on my iapply page this afternoon (I assume, I checked only after seeing others were accepted). However, I've been placed on the "High Hold List," which seems like a good thing. I would love to hear some comments on hold lists as well, if there are different lists, what the probability of getting off hold is, etc.

My status doesn't appear to have changed.
I wonder if this means I am rejected or on the "low waitlist".
Oh dear.

Im wondering how many are on the high hold list vs regular waitlist. At my interview date I heard some people said they got off waitlist....well, which one?

Any fellow acceptees on here interested in finding a roommate to live with in Cleveland? PM me!

😀

I looked through all of last years thread, and couldn't find out much about the high hold; one person I saw got in, but no idea how many people got it. It seems as if a lot of us on here got it.

Me too. I had to stop watching it before it reduced my entire brain to a shapeless mass of protoplasm. Oh wait, it already is.... :d

Awesome, congrats, guys!

In the past, the waitlist wasn't ranked. I don't know if they're changing that for this year. Maybe vc7777 can find out for you if you ask her nicely? 😉

Any suggestions for getting off the waitlist?
Now is the time to write your letter of intent if you're planning to write one. Just to be clear, this is a letter that says CCLCM is your top choice, and you will attend the school if accepted off the waitlist. Obviously, if that's not true, you shouldn't write a LOI. But if CCLCM is definitely your top choice, you should write one. Send it to Dean Franco.

So if we haven't seen any new correspondences on our page it means we've been... rejected? I assume everyone who was accepted got something already, right? I already sent a LOI, so I guess its off to begging my next school... any info?

I'd also like to know this. I wonder if it's too soon for us...I interviewed late January and don't have an update on my status page.

From their website...

"Applicants accepted by the CCLCM Admissions Committee will also be reviewed by the CWRU Admissions Committee before any offers for admission are made"

I'm holding on to hope since my CWRU interview has most likely not been reviewed yet.

I'm afraid you are mis-reading this line: The list of people who were just accepted were reviewed by Case proper in a joint meeting before CCLCM made the offers. This, again, is not the same as having your application reviewed for the University Program. In other words, the two admissions processes are entirely separate. Decisions for all CCLCM candidate (Accept/High-hold/hold/Reject) have been made and will be communicated shortly.

Like CCLCMer said in his post - now is the time to express interest in CLCCM. Emphasize your intention to remain on the waitlist, and professing your love of our school are key components. This doesn't mean calling the office or obsessively e-mailing them. The adcom has a list. They have your info. They know how to contact you. :luck:

Were you already waitlisted? I seem to remember them saying during interview day there was a higher priority list, but don't quote me on it...
There is a high-hold and a hold waiting list.

Yes, I am also curious if there are different levels of waitlist. Is there a waitlist and also a hold list, or just hold? Anyone have any idea how big this list is and if it is ranked? Folks - Nobody but the "inner sanctum" of the admissions committee (i.e. the Deans and the top admissions staff members) can answer that. Is it ranked? Unknown. How many people? Again, unknown.

Waitlisted to CCLCM as well, my status changed on my iapply page this afternoon (I assume, I checked only after seeing others were accepted). However, I've been placed on the "High Hold List," which seems like a good thing. First, as mentioned above we would have to know how many are on the wait lists. Second, we would have to predict how many people will decline their acceptances. Both of these are impossible to predict. <--you will be seeing a lot of this.

Im wondering how many are on the high hold list vs regular waitlist. At my interview date I heard some people said they got off waitlist....well, which one?

Unknown. Rather, not knowable. As I mentioned above, the "high-hold" is a new category as of last cycle. So unless they were first years at CCLCM, then they were referring to the single hold-list rom their application cycle.

+1 Also on the high hold list

:luck: LOIs - like CCLCMer mentioned, are a good idea.

Any fellow acceptees on here interested in finding a roommate to live with in Cleveland? PM me!

😀

I'd wait till Second Look weekend, to really start thinking about this.

You cannot judge the high-hold list acceptance rate by reporting on SDN. Sorry - again the "high-hold" list has only existed for one year. So there is almost no precendence. Sorry.

I've received some PMs - I will try to address the gist of them here...

Especially the part about NOT writing one if you are NOT truly interested in coming to CCLCM above all other schools. Also, again - as a Public Service Announcement - pestering the admissions office will not further your cause. I would write a well-thought-out letter, maybe include updates on grades. But otherwise, you guys need to understand your fellow applicants who are already accepted are more-or-less driving the show now - until they start withdrawing their acceptances NOTHING more will happen.

So if we haven't seen any new correspondences on our page it means we've been... rejected? I assume everyone who was accepted got something already, right? I already sent a LOI, so I guess its off to begging my next school... any info?
Unknown. I wouldn't jump to that conclusion. I think you should wait until something is posted before doing so. Also - if you sent an LOI to CCLCM, I expect you to not go saying the same to the next school, amirite? 'cause that would be bad form. 😉

I'd also like to know this. I wonder if it's too soon for us...I interviewed late January and don't have an update on my status page.
for...CCLCM? All applicants have been reviewed - even the ones from the very last interview date. Decisions will be posted very soon, if not already. If you are talking about the UP program, then ignore this.

It seems like many people have not had a status update yet (including myself). Since acceptance calls were made on Friday, I'm guessing they did not have enough time on Friday to get all the updates into the computer. So maybe we will see an update on Monday after they all get entered?
