Hi Bucks! I'm a M2 and haven't been on here as often this year, but Myuu snagged me to field this one.

The fin aid process was confusing to understand, but you can borrow up to the COA without problem, whether you are married or not. In order to qualify for need-based grants through the school, they will require you provide them with your financial records etc as a couple, but that won't determine your ability to take loans.

If you have any questions about it specifically, you can contact the student aid office, they are quite nice about explaining things 🙂

Hope this helps!

thanks! that's what I was hoping 👍

I forgot where I heard/read this from, but do we have to buy a new laptop from the school upon matriculation? I already have a pretty baller laptop. It would be a waste to purchase another one.

I remember them saying that they would give us a laptop ("give" = out of our tuition) and a choice between a Mac and a Dell. I could be wrong tho, but this is what's on the website:

http://casemed.case.edu/financial_aid/general/budget_guide.cfm

Books, supplies, microscope and computer for first years was $4300 and significantly dropped after first year, making it seem that they require us to buy one of their computers first year

We do, but if you meet or beat the system specs, talk to administrative computing.

But, the specs are pretty decent, if you want a preview of what current M1's got: http://casemed.case.edu/admin_computing/student/2015/notebook_comp.cfm

And on that note, if you have a mac you would at least have to bootcamp it and buy windows 7 ultimate OS, cause some parts of the school's curriculum works only through windows ( e.g. testing software and virtual microscopy)

Possibly later this week.

EDIT: I will tweet if I find out more.
I interviewed at CCLCM in the very beginning of December. Do you think I might hear something this week or will I have to wait until a later date?

I just found the answer to my question: http://casemed.case.edu/admin_computing/student/2015/policy.cfm

"Students will not be allowed to make their own notebook computer purchase, nor will they be allowed to substitute a notebook computer that they already own for the notebook computer required by the school. This ensures a high level of compatibility and the highest level of full service technical support for all students."

I'm still going to ask if I can use my own though. $2000.00 buys a whole lot of pizza.

You should (probably) be fine--the director of Administrative Computing is quite accommodating.

Admissions decisions being sent this week!!! Is everyone else as nervous/anxious/excited as I am???

interviewed in August! still on hold...should I be worried? 🙁

thank you!! 😀

BTW, at this moment hold =/= wait-list. Since, Case doesn't have rolling admissions, you did well enough in your interview that you were not rejected outright, but they are not sure if you are part of the top ~160 or so. From what I hear only a several handfuls of people get acceptances so early, many more are put on hold until end of season (Maybe, Myuu can confirm or deny what I said in more detail).

Interviewed on 12/9. I know 11/29'ers should hear this week. Anybody have any insight on if I might hear next week at all? Or does the adcom take a break the week before Christmas? Thanks! Sorry if I'm sounding overly neurotic. I just want to know! So excited about possibly attending Case!

I don't have an answer but have you tried following the admissions office on twitter? They usually post info about adcom meetings and about case in general. Another reason why this school is great🙂

Did they let you know when your adcom meeting date was? I don't know if you would have gone to the committee on 12/12, and most likely will have to wait until their next adcom meeting sometime in early January (due to the holidays). Good luck!

I didn't know they had a twitter! I do now, and I found the page. Thanks!

No, they did not outright tell us. Was the 12/12 meeting the last one before the holidays, do you know?
Thanks! Really hoping to get in at Case. I love everything about the place.

I believe it is, since a friend who interviewed on 12/12 was told that their adcom meeting was most likely 1/4 due to holiday breaks and such.

And I know what you mean! I'm definitely in love with the school. Working on a letter of intent right now to hopefully get off hold/waitlist!

thank you!

Two things:

1. We do rolling admissions.
2. That number's a weeeeee bit low.

But yes, holds are re-evaluated in March/April. Some acceptances will come at that time. Others will come with the post-May 15th waitlist domino dance.

s a long wait then...lol oh well 🙂

The decisions from their last adcom meeting have been officially entered and things should update later this evening per their twitter. Best of luck to those who are supposed to hear from them.

Does anybody know if they reviewed the 12/6 interview group on Monday?

Just read through the twitter posts. Wish I would have read those "tip" posts sooner🙁

Also, check your iapply. My decision was posted at 1:50pm, but I didn't get an email until the system refreshed at 8pm. Good luck! 👍

I just found out they had a twitter page today ha! I feel you there. I went on 12/9. The only things we can do is check iapply, SDN, and our emails 24/7 ha. Good luck!

Wish I didn't know this. Now I'll be F5ing iapply every couple of minutes until 8pm hah

Interviewed last week and got the notification that I'm on hold for a final decision. But hey, at least I still have a chance.
