Does dartmouth have a second look weekend/day? Has there been any info on it yet?
Yes, I believe it's May 4-5. I don't know much else about it, though.
Nothing on my end... 🙁 No one who interviewed late January/early February has reported acceptances which is quite strange. This was one of my best interviews...
It's not looking good sigh 🙁

Most of the decisions were sent last year at the very end of March and the beginning of April, so hang in there, guys!
Congrats, pirung1 and Cinclus! You should check out the Fbook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/401524006530184/
Hey,
I was accepted to Dartmouth in early February and am strongly considering coming here. I was wondering if any current med students could address the fact that the M1 year consists of a bunch of quizzes given on Mondays and whether that interferes with any potential weekend plans? I was hoping to spend some weekends traveling to visit my family and my boyfriend, so I was just wondering if these plans would be affected significantly by the Monday quizzes.
Thanks in advance!

To any of the current students hanging around here: where do most DMS students end up living? Is there any one area where you would say a majority end up, at least first year? I'd like to end up living near other students, obviously, and I think i'd prefer Hanover, but it's also ~twice the price of surrounding towns...
Also, how/when in the year do people set up living situations/find roommates/sign leases?

There are two graduate apartment complexes where many of the first years end up. North Park is right across the street from the med school, but tends to be pretty expensive. Sachem Village is about a mile and a half south of campus, but is quite a bit cheaper (maybe $550-700 per person depending on the apt). There are also a variety of private housing opportunities around Hanover/West Lebanon, etc.
I think I remember setting up housing around May of last year. Quite a few students end up posting in the Facebook group when looking for roommates for the coming year.
To answer your question Catiness, the weekend planning is ultimately up to you. It's certainly possible to finish studying early for a quiz.

The quizzes are every 2-3 weeks, so you have quite a few weekends when you don't have Monday quizzes to worry about. I wouldn't plan on doing anything on the weekends right before the quizzes because you'll be very busy studying.
Second year is much, much better when it comes to free time. My (now) wife (then girlfriend) went to med school 5 hours away and we saw each other quite a bit during my second year.
me too. i was interviewed on the 28th of Feb.ACCEPTED! 😎 Surprised at how quick it was...interviewed close to March 1.
Congrats. When did you interview Zed?

March 1st, 6th, and 8th. I interviewed the 8th and haven't heard yet. If someone got in who interviewed Feb 28th then those who interviewed in March should hear soon.
I think the last interview day is Mar 20.

I apologize for my error. It seems the bulk of decisions won't be made until sometime in April, possibly mid to late April.

Did you call admissions to find out this information, I was thinking of calling to ask... I interviewed in December and am feeling quite nervous.

Does anyone know if it is better to email a letter of intent or mail (I'm out of the country)???...
I pdf'ed mine and then emailed. They took it.
Email joan, the admission lady. She is the nicest! I also emailed mine (with update) to mr welsh. I have a feeling that update letters are taken very seriously there. I emailed a lot of those.Does anyone know if it is better to email a letter of intent or mail (I'm out of the country)???...

I got that from this thread. Apparently that was the pattern last year.

Thanks Zed! Congrats on your acceptance... I'm on the waitlist, so I'll be hoping for some movement in May. Dartmouth is definitely my top choice! 🙂

Wow they have already started notifying people about being on a waitlist? If so, when did you find out?
Best of luck!

I found out I was WL just a few weeks after my interview in Feb. Not too sure exactly what to make out of it, I guess I'm exactly in the middle of their list?

First of all, I am very very sorry for the wait list placement. 🙁 Hold on tight May 15th in coming soon! It's almost April! May I inquire when you interviewed and when did you hear back?
Well, it was a tough thing to do, but I have declined my offer of acceptance at Dartmouth. I hope it goes to someone waiting to hear back or someone waiting on the waitlist. Best of luck to all of you!

Curious as to how you found out you were wait listed. Did you get an email notification when you were wait listed?
Yes, from the Director of Admissions...
How soon after you interviewed?
How soon after you interviewed?
I interviewed in mid september and found out in late january
Interviewed late Feb, received WL email 3/19
Anyone know how well DMS students match? I tried looking for their match list but couldn't find it. It would be interesting to see how they do considering the school appears to have a really nice step 1 average (236-240, I think).
