Anyone else heard anything about whether or not they have rejected anyone yet (or at what point they will start dishing out rejections)?

Just received an interview invite. Since it's so late, am I just interviewing for the waitlist here? I've been pretty set on attending Case Western for awhile now, and I am debating if I should even come to Dart to interview. Any thoughts on my situation? Dart vs Case? Thanks!👍

Prob case.

Similar question. I just got an interview at Dartmouth today, but had already pretty much decided to go to UVA. Is it worth it to interview?

I'm not taking a side, but Dartmouth would say no, that is not the case. They mentioned that they save several seats in the class for each interview date, so as to give everyone a fair shot. Those spots, I imagine are not reserved for interviewees from your interview date necessarily, but they are not given until that date has passed (or maybe until after that group was already discussed by the committee). Not certain how you should interpret it but that appears to be their thing.

Anyone interviewing march 13th? I tried to get student hosting, but seems everyone is out of down because it is spring break for them. So anyone want to split a hotel room?
I'll be driving in from New Jersey so, we can split for the 12th

Is it still true that there is no class ranking? How is membership into AOA determined?
Hi, on the previous page my classmate Matt wrote a wonderful essay, in which he said "only a single faculty member knows all of the grades for each student." That faculty does keep a ranking, and would reveal it only when a student is under consideration for competitions that require the ranking info, the AOA competition included. The ranking is otherwise secret info and does not appear on residency application whatsoever. For each course, you do know the class mean and standard deviation, and so can guess where you are. However, I must stress that at Dartmouth AOA is not elected based on grade only, but takes service into serious consideration, and in recent years only 5-10% of the class is elected to AOA. Dartmouth has wonderful match results even though most students do not carry the AOA aura. Because few people care about ranking or AOA here, we all help each other in studying and share materials. Gunners are rare, if not extinct, here.

When I interviewed, the students I met seemed more chill and laid-back than at any other schools. It seems Dartmouth targets certain kinds of students. I couldn't believe how easily I got along with most of the interviewees I met. Great student body! It would be awesome studying in a class with students here 👍

Does anyone know when people who interviewed in March will start hearing back?

I asked this question a while back, but has no one who interview beginning of February heard back from Dartmouth?

I interviewed in November and have yet to hear back...those who interviewed in March what did they say about when they will release their final decisions. Did they say anything about post-interview rejections? Or is everyone not offered acceptance initially put on a wait-list?

From what I understood. Those that are given a high score (from application and interview) and given an acceptance. Those that are given a low score are rejected. Everyone else is slowly given an acceptance or rejection depending on their score. Everyone not accepted or rejected by a certain date (can't remember) is wait listed.

What is the relative importance of the overall application post-interview? Does the interview carry more weight? I don't recall this being addressed.

The impression I got was that the interview holds a lot of weight, but overall application is looked at too.

How many have gotten acceptances so far?

I recall from a reading a post here that the bulk of acceptances were given in late March/early April. I personally know one person that was accepted in Jan/Feb but surely won't be attending.

There is a DMS class of 2016 Facebook group but some of those people are in the class of 2015.

About recent interviews: I interviewed yesterday and they noted that interviewing later does not effect your odds of acceptance. They space them out over the year on purpose. From the horses mouth.

Ah, yes. Intruders in the 2016 group! You may come to appreciate our attendance, based on the wisdom we have to offer. 🙂

Once orientation begins, we'll vacate the group, but we're there to post announcements about DMS (e.g. housing opportunities), to answer any of your questions, and to moderate the group until the matriculating group of students attending this fall is set.

Can anyone give me their interview experience at DMS this year? Questions, feel, suggestions? Much appreciated!

Nothing too crazy... It was my first interview thought it was pretty neutral... Hoping for the best! Dartmouth is pretty amazing!

I'm looking for somewhere to stay March 12 (the night before 3/13 interviews) too. If anyone else is in the same boat, please feel free to PM or email ([email protected]) me! Too bad about it being spring break this week, all the students can't host us):

Has Dartmouth given out post-interview rejections yet?

If they have, none of these people have posted.

Just was wondering... I'm currently on the waitlist and wanted to see if they were just putting everyone the waitlist who they didn't immediately accept this year. Have you decided on a school yet Cinclus or still waiting it out?

So I called and was informed that they have started rejecting post-interview...

Thanks for calling AJgem 🙂.

Do you know if they've been doing it all along, or is this more a recent development?

As far as I can tell it seems to be more recent (this was my second time calling) the first time they said they had not rejected anyone yet but as of last week they have!

Oh cripes, that's comforting. This whole process seems so bizarre.

Have most people on here been notified that they are on the wait list?

Just wanted to bump the thread...anyone heard anything lately? When/how often does the committee meet?

When is the last interview date March 20th? By end of March they'll have probably scored everyone. I wonder how many of the 900 they interviewed have gotten accepted/waitlisted/rejected.

They interviewed 900? I thought it was 650?

I thought the admissions secretary said 900. Maybe they send 900 invites, but only 650 show up?

I can't remember but did they say how many acceptances go out? Is it around 200 for 90 spots?

I thought it was interview 600, accept ~250 for a 90 person class. Congrats to the acceptees who have had to wait for so long!

So 2/3 of accepted people reject Dartmouth?

I think we were told around ~200+ total admitted students on interview day too, so that sounds about right. I think the isolated location costs Dartmouth a lot in the crossadmit battle. Not that bad of a news if you're waitlisted!👍

I agree, and I wouldn't expect crossadmit matriculation to have a linear relationship with the 'eliteness' of a school. It would get quite complicated because obviously the more impressive the school, the more amazing options admitted students are likely to have.
