Anyone interviewing on September 30th/Early October want to switch to an earlier date? I was originally planning to interview September 16th, but I can no longer interview that day. If you're interested in switching, please PM me.

Definitely. Why wouldn't you? As long as you are confident in your scores/stats, the sooner they get it, the sooner your file is complete, the sooner your file will be reviewed, especially considering they use snail mail! I sent mine as soon as I finished it! It seems GW has offered a lot of interviews thus far, so I definitely would not hesitate to get in the review pile.

Lets say I wasn't confident in my mcat test score which is coming out in a couple of days. Should I go ahead with it?
 
Got a new interview date this morning that is much more convenient for me. It seems like there is some flexibility with the dates, so it's worth it to send an email if you are assigned one that doesn't fit with a busy class/work schedule! I'm going to book transportation soon. What is everyone doing with regards to hotels? They don't have a student host list, do they?
 
I am wondering if this whole hold thing is as bad as many seem to think it is. For example I am applying to a special master program(SMP) in January 2012. I am shooting for Georgetown but I will take what I get. Anyway, if I apply to GWU the year I get start the SMP at GTU, I would expect GWU to put me on hold pending grades from the GTU program. This would mean if they like my grades in the GTU program I could get an interview later in the season ( December to Febuaryish). Is that an unrealistic expectation? Are there others out there that had a similar situation happen to them?

If it's coming out soon I would just wait. It's $125 you don't really want to waste... though, I've seen quite a few people on here get interviews with 29s. Maybe work on the essays so it is ready to mail as soon as you get your scores. That is what I did for a few schools when I was waiting for my MCAT.

Hey... a friend of mine who went the GW told me the GW INN or the doubletree are on campus/across the street from where the interview was. GW INN cost me about $240 for the night, but I have never been to DC so I was looking for convenience.

Also concerning student hosting... I thought since we received our interview invites before they had their MS1's set up, I figured they wouldn't have a student hosting option this early... When are you interviewing? (I'm 9/23).

I'm interviewing about a month after you, so perhaps the option will be available by then? I would prefer to stay with a student host rather than pay for a hotel! I'll call tomorrow and ask. 🙂
 
If you can't get a student host, it may be worth it to stay in a hotel outside of downtown DC. I've lived in this area for >6 years now, and Foggy Bottom is probably one of the most expensive areas. I'd probably stay in downtown Silver Spring (Maryland) by the metro-- its MUCH cheaper and you can easily take the metro to Foggy Bottom. OR I'd look in Virginia (around Ballston, VA Square) -- somewhere on the Blue or Orange line, so that it is a straight shot to GW on the metro.

I definitely recommend taking the metro over driving. You definitely do NOT want to drive in that area. If you do, be prepared to pay $20+ for parking (if you can find any!)
 
I'm from Virginia and guys trust me you DO NOT want to drive in Washington DC, parking is hella expensive and parking on the street is usually for 2 hours after that you get hammered with tickets and possibly towed.

There IS a student host list, it just isn't advertised. Email [email protected] (the same one you confirmed your interview with) and they'll help you. They say it isn't guaranteed but it's totally worth a shot.
 
Some general questions for interview day:

1) It is okay to bring a backpack? Is there a storage area for these?

2) Are the 2 interviews held back-to-back?

1) You can store backpacks in the room where you'll have presentations and lunch. The interview coordinator will always be there to watch over all belongings

2) Usually they are, there might be a small gap between interviews though. Mine, last year, were back-to-back

So I got my new MCAT score yesterday and I submitted my secondary on June 30th. Does anyone know how long will it take for them to review? Thanks!

Chances are they have already reviewed you if everything was complete except your MCAT. My MCAT scores posted on 8/16 and I got an interview invite (via e-mail 8/18. A friend of mine had the same experience last cycle.

The status page did not update until a week after my scores were recevied -- so I'd say you should hear something within one week.

Doesn't George Washington take the highest score of each section for multiple MCATs?

ie, a person with: MCAT1 PS: 8 BS 11 VR 9, and MCAT2 PS: 11 BS:12 VR:7 would get a cumulative MCAT of: 32

???

Yup, per their FAQ section: "The Committee on Admissions accepts the highest score in each section. Please keep in mind that for the 2012 cycle, the committee will only consider MCAT scores from April 2009-September 2011."

6/17: Received secondary application
6/28: Secondary complete
7/20/2011: On hold until they get my second MCAT score
9/2/2011: Put on hold for re-review for a later date, although I got a 31Q in the second MCAT :/

I got put on hold for re-review. 🙁 OOS 35R, 3.78. I am really hoping for an interview somewhere down the line.

interviewed 9/2, very laid back and friendly community they got goin on over there
 
Does this school actually reject anybody at all or they are just putting everybody on hold?

by "in the area" email i meant if they would consider me for an interview when i'm in DC for my other DC interview
 
Ye, I also want to know that. Being stuck in limbo is no fun..(better than rejection i guess)
 
Finally complete today. I submitted beginning of August before my MCAT score came back (got MCAT back on 8/9) and my status has been "waiting on MCAT scores" ever since. Glad to finally be under review!

So you are asking whether the school will grant you an interview because you are visiting DC?

no i have another interview in DC already and just seeing if they'd possibly consider me for an interview around that date to cut down on costs and time on travel. i mean i also would mention that i would return to DC for an interview if i was offered one.

not just because i was visiting DC.

I've been watching this thread for sometime now and I got an interview! I'm very excited because it's my first. I'm a somewhat late applicant.

8/19 received
8/30 Complete (waiting for my LOR)
9/7 I finally checked and saw that I was on hold
9/8 Interview invite for Nov. 4 (I'm sure the later date is probably because of my less than stellar stats)

Hope for the on-hold people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was complete 8/5, on hold almost immediately (I believe it was 8/7) and I just got the interview invite about an hour ago! I'm scheduled for 11/4 but I will have to reschedule.

I know there are mixed opinions on doing this, but I wrote an update letter/letter of interest to GW and e-mailed it to Dean McQuail three days ago. Of course, it could be a coincidence, but I really do think it helped. Especially with my sub-par MCAT 😳
 
Also, the status page still says I'm on hold. I hope this is normal XD
 
On hold for re-review. I think it has been at least a week.

Seeing lots of people her on hold get an interview is making me happy (congrats guys!!), which is good considering how nerve wracking this entire process is and how the simplest thing can send someone on edge hahahaha.

I would love to go to this school!!! The affiliated children's hospital is awesome and being there would be a great experience 😀

+ 1 minus the letter of update... I was also put on hold a few days after I was complete.

Just got an interview invite. Submitted early August, was complete today and offered interview today. Excited!
