talk about efficient processing. After thorough research on this school and the fact that I LOVE the DC area, this has moved up to my top three choices.
I know I submitted my secondary LATE, considering I received the secondary back in July... I hope they won't hold it against me. :xf:

anyone know chances of being interviewed after being placed on hold?

I'm also on hold. Based on last year's thread, it's quite difficult to get an II after being put on hold but it's not impossible. Let's not lose hope just yet! 🙂

Interviewed on Oct 12. This is very hard to take from one of my top choices!

Does anyone know the stats regarding getting off of the alternate list?

I'd love to know this too! I was just alternated and it's really a top choice for me too :-(
I interviewed later in October than you so I wasn't even expecting the email.
I had thought my interviews went really well, and it was the school I felt happiest and most at home at.
It doesn't even seem like they do post-interview rejections? So it seems like the alternate list must be really big?

Ditto! Now I'm doubting my ability to judge the success of my interviews...
 
alternate list email today. interviewed mid-october.

I'm pretty disappointed. I thought the interviews went extremely well despite a rather aggressive interviewer. Does anyone know how GWU treats their alt list? It sounds like its synonymous with reject pile.

seriously, i was like wow...my interview went perfect...then i get wait listed..

It makes you really nervous for the rest of your interviews...
 
I think that although the interview is important, there are just so many other factors in play. They're basically trying to judge your passion for medicine based on experiences, essays, and interview while at the same time making sure that you can handle the curriculum (gpa/mcat). I wouldn't read too much into your interviewing skills just because you get waitlisted. Just remember there are tons of other applicants that feel just as qualified as you do who will not even get an interview!
 
About a week ago I got pre-interview rejection from GW. Yesterday I got interview invitation from Wash U. Go figure!

It's really hard to judge your success on interviews haha....but it can work both ways too (I felt like I had a pretty bad second interview somewhere else and I got in anyways) so just try your best and things will work itself out.
 
so it looks like the turnaround time after interviews is 4 weeks? i interviewed on oct. 21
 
Should I send another update letter? I don't have a lot to say other than I am continuing my education/receiving As on exams/volunteering and have a lot of interest in interviewing at GWU.

I am kind of wondering the same thing...
 
Only send updates if you have something worth saying (i.e. began a new project, update in grades.) Updates are great but you don't want to annoy the adcoms.

For those waitlisted, it's completely fine. Many of us were waitlisted and then eventually got off. Realize, though, that the chances of getting off the waitlist aren't great, but they aren't too bad considering you have already gone through the interview process--which is probably the most difficult hurdle.
 
I'm currently on hold and it says right on the status page that updates are welcome. With so many applicants, showing a genuine interest in the program is a good thing to help you stand out. I'd say go for it if you have significant things to say to them 🙂

To those of you who sent in or are writing an update letter, who did you address the letter to? Just the admissions committee in general or someone in particular?
 
Do you guys think that admissions offers are sent in batches? All of the people that interviewed around the same time I did were put on the waitlist. The wait is making me very anxious!
 
When did you interview? I interviewed on 10/18 and am also very anxious to hear back.

Anyone in the same boat as me? I been on re-review since the beginning of the cycle and haven't been rejected yet...
 
Is being on the alternate list such a bad thing? I feel like there would be a lot of movement at GWU...
 
Quick question: Does GW email interview invites? or do you have to constantly check the status page for updates? Thanks!

Congrats! Are you guys from the 10/14 interview date as well? I interviewed the following week, so I'm trying to gauge when I will hear back. 🙂
