I was put on the alternate/wait list Yesterday (weds). I interviewed 10/7.. I really thought my interview went well. :/

I felt the same way, my interviewers even said they thought GW would be a really good fit for me. Don't know what happened. Oh well, hopefully we'll just have to wait a bit longer :xf::luck:

Ugh rejected post-"Re-Review Hold"

Has anyone else been on hold forever and NOT been rejected? I was actually complete here around 6/23 and haven't heard a word since being put on re-review. I was fully expecting a rejection but still nothing😕

sorry to hear that -- alt/wlist is definitely better than a rejection though! I interviewed the same day.. so I was just wondering if you heard via e-mail or snail mail or both?

Still on HOLD since 7/27.

I think I've been on hold since 7/5 or around that date...no rejection yet...:ninja:

hey, i got alternated as well, i know my interview went great when the faculty interviewer said i did great, and he would highly recommend me...so im really confused/disappointed...is there any advantage of interviewing earlier in the cycle?

Pre-interview rejection. At least I'm not on hold anymore  Once I got the interview invite I thought I'd maybe have a shot at GW. Oh well.

are you guys hearing back tonight...or did you hear back earlier and are posting just now..?

I heard first by email, then I just got snail mail yesterday saying the same thing.

Yeah, faculty interviewer pretty much said the same thing to me. Grrr this is frustrating.

what's the deadline to file the secondary application?

Interview invite today! Woot woot! Complete Sept. 26, was on re-review for about a month.

wait, so they invited you for an interview, then rejected you before your interview?

i think they mean if they had gotten an interview, they liked their chances

i have been reading the threads on this site for the last couple years, but i didn't join until today.. lol.. i just received my first med school interview invite (to GWU obviously).. do any accepted applicants have any words of wisdom for the interview?

thanks 🙂

Is anyone else having problems logging in to the status check website?

Nice to know! Gives me and those of us who have been on hold forever yet survived the first cuts some hope!

Surviving the first round of rejections after being on hold so long makes me think we might get one of the last rounds of interviews....?

I wonder if any acceptance will go out today like the past two weeks...

I'm hoping the same thing...been complete since early July, and been on hold practically since then. C'mon, GWU!!

Interviewed 10/13, acceptance e-mail this afternoon! They were pretty adamant that we would not hear for 8-10 weeks (probably closer to 10 weeks) so this kind of caught me off guard.

If anyone's curious both my interviews went well, the student told me I'd be a good fit and gave me a heads up on the background of my faculty interviewer (an OB Doc who was very friendly). The faculty kept insisting I refine my answers to a few different questions until I said whatever it was he clearly wanted me to arrive at. For example:

Him: "Why is xyz important for medicine?"
Me: "Well its important because of abc..."
Him: (clearly not satified by my answer) "Why else?"
Me: "Oh well I guess the most simple answer is 123..."
Him: "Exactly!"

It threw me off a little but he kept saying I was doing fine and he was just messing with me.

Also I'm 3.6 overall 3.5 science in Honors Biomedical Engineering with a 35R

Anyway best of luck to those still awaiting reply!

YESSSSSS! First application to med school ever, first med school interview at GWU (10/7), and first med school acceptance this afternoon too! OMG soooo happy

stats: first mcat P7 V7 B10 (24), second mcat P6 V10 B6 (22)
3.35 overall, 3.0 or 3.1 science, BS in Human Biology, currently doing MPH

Secret to success with such dismal stats: GOD! No way this could've possible without Him. Thank you Jesus and see you all at the top!

God's favor on this journey everyone!

Are you ready for medical school? Just worried because MCAT correlates with board scores....

Congrats and good luck! God is great!

^
Obiviously GWU thought that he/she was ready for med school. Would they admit somebody they thought that wasn't?

Actually I heard from a dean that studies show that MCAT does NOT predict USMLE scores at all.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes GW to start reviewing completed files? Just wondering, since I submitted my secondary in mid-October but wasn't complete till two weeks ago when my final letter of recommendation was submitted to AMCAS....

who cares? just get accepted and work your ass off once you're in. let your own efforts do the talking.

Submitted secondary 11/1
confirmed ~ 11/3
complete e-mail ~11/4
on hold for re-review ~11/10

talk about efficient processing. After thorough research on this school and the fact that I LOVE the DC area, this has moved up to my top three choices.
I know I submitted my secondary LATE, considering I received the secondary back in July... I hope they won't hold it against me. :xf:

anyone know chances of being interviewed after being placed on hold?

They must do it in batches. I submitted on 10/8, received the completion email on 10/17, and was put on re-review on 11/8. Still, pretty efficient compared to the 7-9 week processing period I'm grinding through at some other schools.

For those of you that got post-interview decisions -- did you receive an e-mail and/or snail mail? My status seems to have changed on the status page, but I still have not officially received an e-mail or anything.

I got an email right when they sent out decisions, and then a snail mail letter shortly after. My status didn't change until after I got both of those. What does your status say (if you don't mind sharing)?
